Igjen løftet jeg blikket og så en mann med en målesnor i hånden.

I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand.

Da spurte jeg: Hvor går du hen? Og han sa til meg: For å måle Jerusalem, for å se hvor bredt og langt det er.

Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.

Og se, engelen som snakket med meg gikk frem, og en annen engel gikk ut for å møte ham,

And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,

og sa til ham: Løp og si til denne unge mannen: Jerusalem skal være bebodd som byer uten murer på grunn av mengden av mennesker og dyr der.

And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:

For jeg, sier Herren, vil være en ildmur rundt henne, og jeg vil være herlighetens midtpunkt i henne.

For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.

Kom, kom, fly ut fra landet i nord, sier Herren, for jeg har spredt dere som himmelens fire vinder, sier Herren.

Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the LORD: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the LORD.

Fri deg selv, Sion, du som bor hos Babylons datter.

Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.

For slik sier Herren over hærskarene: Etter herligheten har han sendt meg til nasjonene som plyndret dere, for den som rører dere, rører ved hans øyesten.

For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.

For se, jeg vil vifte med hånden over dem, og de skal bli bytte for sine tjenere, og dere skal vite at Herren over hærskarene har sendt meg.

For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me.

Syng og gled deg, du Sions datter, for se, jeg kommer, og jeg vil bo midt iblant deg, sier Herren.

Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD.

Og mange nasjoner skal slutte seg til Herren den dagen og skal bli mitt folk, og jeg vil bo midt iblant deg, og du skal vite at Herren over hærskarene har sendt meg til deg.

And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto thee.

Og Herren skal ta Juda i arv som sin del i det hellige landet, og han skal igjen utvelge Jerusalem.

And the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.

Vær stille, alt kjød, for Herren, for han har reist seg fra sin hellige bolig.

Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.
