Igjen kom Herrens, hærskarenes Guds, ord til meg og sa:

Again the word of the LORD of hosts came to me, saying,

Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Jeg har vært nidkjær for Sion med stor iver, og jeg har vært nidkjær for henne med stor vrede.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I was jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I was jealous for her with great fury.

Så sier Herren: Jeg har vendt tilbake til Sion og vil bo midt i Jerusalem. Jerusalem skal kalles sannhetens by, og Herrens, hærskarenes Guds, fjell skal kalles det hellige fjell.

Thus saith the LORD; I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the LORD of hosts the holy mountain.

Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Det skal igjen bo gamle menn og gamle kvinner i Jerusalems gater, og alle skal ha staven i hånden på grunn av sin høye alder.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for very age.

Og byens gater skal fylles med gutter og jenter som leker der.

And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof.

Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Om dette er underfullt i restene av dette folkets øyne i de dager, skal det da også være underfullt i mine øyne? sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If it be marvellous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvellous in mine eyes? saith the LORD of hosts.

Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Se, jeg vil frelse mitt folk fra landene i øst og fra landene i vest.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country;

Jeg vil føre dem tilbake, og de skal bo midt i Jerusalem. De skal være mitt folk, og jeg vil være deres Gud i sannhet og rettferdighet.

And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.

Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: La hendene deres være sterke, dere som hører disse ordene i disse dager fra profetenes munn, de som var der da grunnvollen til Herrens, hærskarenes Guds, hus ble lagt, for at tempelet skulle bli bygget.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Let your hands be strong, ye that hear in these days these words by the mouth of the prophets, which were in the day that the foundation of the house of the LORD of hosts was laid, that the temple might be built.

For før disse dager var det ingen lønn for menneskene, og ingen lønn for dyrene, og det var ingen fred for dem som gikk ut eller kom inn på grunn av fienden. For jeg satte alle menn mot hverandre.

For before these days there was no hire for man, nor any hire for beast; neither was there any peace to him that went out or came in because of the affliction: for I set all men every one against his neighbour.

Men nå vil jeg ikke være som i de tidligere dager mot restene av dette folket, sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud.

But now I will not be unto the residue of this people as in the former days, saith the LORD of hosts.

For såkornet skal gi sin grøde, vinranken skal gi sin frukt, jorden skal gi sitt utbytte, og himmelen skal gi sin dugg. Jeg vil gi restene av dette folket alt dette.

For the seed shall be prosperous; the vine shall give her fruit, and the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.

Det skal skje at slik dere var en forbannelse blant folkene, Judas hus og Israels hus, slik vil jeg frelse dere, og dere skal være en velsignelse. Frykt ikke, men la hendene deres være sterke.

And it shall come to pass, that as ye were a curse among the heathen, O house of Judah, and house of Israel; so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear not, but let your hands be strong.

For så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Slik jeg tenkte å straffe dere da deres fedre vakte min vrede, sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud, og jeg angret ikke,

For thus saith the LORD of hosts; As I thought to punish you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath, saith the LORD of hosts, and I repented not:

har jeg nå i disse dager tenkt å gjøre godt mot Jerusalem og Judas hus. Frykt ikke.

So again have I thought in these days to do well unto Jerusalem and to the house of Judah: fear ye not.

Dette er de tingene dere skal gjøre: Tal sannhet til hverandre, døm rettferdige dommer som fører til fred innenfor portene deres.

These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:

Ingen av dere skal planlegge ondskap i hjertet mot sin neste, og elsk ikke en falsk ed. For alt dette hater jeg, sier Herren.

And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD.

Herrens, hærskarenes Guds, ord kom til meg og sa:

And the word of the LORD of hosts came unto me, saying,

Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Fasten i den fjerde måneden, og fasten i den femte, og fasten i den syvende, og fasten i den tiende, skal bli hus til glede og fest og gode måltider for Judas hus. Elsk derfor sannhet og fred.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts; therefore love the truth and peace.

Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Det skal skje at folk skal komme, og innbyggerne fra mange byer.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities:

Innbyggerne i en by skal gå til en annen og si: La oss raskt gå for å be for Herrens åsyn og for å søke Herren, hærskarenes Gud. Jeg vil også gå.

And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also.

Ja, mange folk og mektige nasjoner skal komme for å søke Herren, hærskarenes Gud, i Jerusalem og for å be for Herrens åsyn.

Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD.

Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: I de dager skal det skje at ti menn fra alle nasjoners språk skal gripe en jødisk manns kappe og si: Vi vil gå med deg, for vi har hørt at Gud er med dere.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.
