And Ehud{H164} said{H559}{(H8799)}, I have a message{H1697} from God{H430} unto thee. And the land{H776} had rest{H8252}{(H8799)} fourscore{H8084} years{H8141}. 31 And after{H310} him was Shamgar{H8044} the son{H1121} of Anath{H6067}, which slew{H5221}{(H8686)} of the Philistines{H6430} six{H8337} hundred{H3967} men{H376} with an ox{H1241} goad{H4451}: and he also delivered{H3467}{(H8686)} Israel{H3478}.

And the LORD{H3068} preserved{H3467}{(H8686)} David{H1732} whithersoever he went{H1980}{(H8804)}. 7 And David{H1732} took{H3947}{(H8799)} the shields{H7982} of gold{H2091} that were on the servants{H5650} of Hadadezer{H1909}, and brought{H935}{(H8686)} them to Jerusalem{H3389}. 8 And from Betah{H984}, and from Berothai{H1268}, cities{H5892} of Hadadezer{H1909}, king{H4428} David{H1732} took{H3947}{(H8804)} exceeding{H3966} much{H7235}{(H8687)} brass{H5178}. 9 When Toi{H8583} king{H4428} of Hamath{H2574} heard{H8085}{(H8799)} that David{H1732} had smitten{H5221}{(H8689)} all the host{H2428} of Hadadezer{H1909}, 10 Then Toi{H8583} sent{H7971}{(H8799)} Joram{H3141} his son{H1121} unto king{H4428} David{H1732}, to salute{H7592}{(H8800)}{H7965} him, and to bless{H1288}{(H8763)} him, because he had fought{H3898}{(H8738)} against Hadadezer{H1909}, and smitten{H5221}{(H8686)} him: for Hadadezer{H1909} had wars{H376}{H4421} with Toi{H8583}. And Joram brought with him{H3027} vessels{H3627} of silver{H3701}, and vessels{H3627} of gold{H2091}, and vessels{H3627} of brass{H5178}: 11 Which also king{H4428} David{H1732} did dedicate{H6942}{(H8689)} unto the LORD{H3068}, with the silver{H3701} and gold{H2091} that he had dedicated{H6942}{(H8689)} of all nations{H1471} which he subdued{H3533}{(H8765)}; 12 Of Syria{H758}, and of Moab{H4124}, and of the children{H1121} of Ammon{H5983}, and of the Philistines{H6430}, and of Amalek{H6002}, and of the spoil{H7998} of Hadadezer{H1909}, son{H1121} of Rehob{H7340}, king{H4428} of Zobah{H6678}. 13 And David{H1732} gat{H6213}{(H8799)} him a name{H8034} when he returned{H7725}{(H8800)} from smiting{H5221}{(H8687)} of the Syrians{H758} in the valley{H1516} of salt{H4417}, being eighteen{H8083}{H6240} thousand{H505} men. 14 And he put{H7760}{(H8799)} garrisons{H5333} in Edom{H123}; throughout all Edom{H123} put{H7760}{(H8804)} he garrisons{H5333}, and all they of Edom{H123} became David's{H1732} servants{H5650}. And the LORD{H3068} preserved{H3467}{(H8686)} David{H1732} whithersoever he went{H1980}{(H8804)}. 15 And David{H1732} reigned{H4427}{(H8799)} over all Israel{H3478}; and David{H1732} executed{H6213}{(H8802)} judgment{H4941} and justice{H6666} unto all his people{H5971}. 16 And Joab{H3097} the son{H1121} of Zeruiah{H6870} was over the host{H6635}; and Jehoshaphat{H3092} the son{H1121} of Ahilud{H286} was recorder{H2142}{(H8688)}; 17 And Zadok{H6659} the son{H1121} of Ahitub{H285}, and Ahimelech{H288} the son{H1121} of Abiathar{H54}, were the priests{H3548}; and Seraiah{H8304} was the scribe{H5608}{(H8802)}; 18 And Benaiah{H1141} the son{H1121} of Jehoiada{H3077} was over both the Cherethites{H3774} and the Pelethites{H6432}; and David's{H1732} sons{H1121} were chief rulers{H3548}.

And one{H259} of the king{H4428} of Israel's{H3478} servants{H5650} answered{H6030}{(H8799)} and said{H559}{(H8799)}, Here is Elisha{H477} the son{H1121} of Shaphat{H8202}, which poured{H3332}{(H8804)} water{H4325} on the hands{H3027} of Elijah{H452}. 12 And Jehoshaphat{H3092} said{H559}{(H8799)}, The word{H1697} of the LORD{H3068} is{H3426} with him. So the king{H4428} of Israel{H3478} and Jehoshaphat{H3092} and the king{H4428} of Edom{H123} went down{H3381}{(H8799)} to him. 13 And Elisha{H477} said{H559}{(H8799)} unto the king{H4428} of Israel{H3478}, What have I to do with thee? get{H3212}{(H8798)} thee to the prophets{H5030} of thy father{H1}, and to the prophets{H5030} of thy mother{H517}. And the king{H4428} of Israel{H3478} said{H559}{(H8799)} unto him, Nay: for the LORD{H3068} hath called{H7121} these three{H7969} kings{H4428} together{H7121}{(H8804)}, to deliver{H5414}{(H8800)} them into the hand{H3027} of Moab{H4124}. 14 And Elisha{H477} said{H559}{(H8799)}, As the LORD{H3068} of hosts{H6635} liveth{H2416}, before{H6440} whom I stand{H5975}{(H8804)}, surely, were it not that{H3884} I regard{H5375}{(H8802)} the presence{H6440} of Jehoshaphat{H3092} the king{H4428} of Judah{H3063}, I would not look{H5027}{(H8686)} toward thee, nor see{H7200}{(H8799)} thee. 15 But now bring{H3947}{(H8798)} me a minstrel{H5059}{(H8764)}. And it came to pass, when the minstrel{H5059}{(H8764)} played{H5059}{(H8763)}, that the hand{H3027} of the LORD{H3068} came upon him. 16 And he said{H559}{(H8799)}, Thus saith{H559}{(H8804)} the LORD{H3068}, Make{H6213}{(H8800)} this valley{H5158} full of ditches{H1356}. 17 For thus saith{H559}{(H8804)} the LORD{H3068}, Ye shall not see{H7200}{(H8799)} wind{H7307}, neither shall ye see{H7200}{(H8799)} rain{H1653}; yet that valley{H5158} shall be filled{H4390}{(H8735)} with water{H4325}, that ye may drink{H8354}{(H8804)}, both ye, and your cattle{H4735}, and your beasts{H929}. 18 And this is but a light thing{H7043}{(H8738)} in the sight{H5869} of the LORD{H3068}: he will deliver{H5414}{(H8804)} the Moabites{H4124} also into your hand{H3027}. 19 And ye shall smite{H5221}{(H8689)} every fenced{H4013} city{H5892}, and every choice{H4004} city{H5892}, and shall fell{H5307}{(H8686)} every good{H2896} tree{H6086}, and stop{H5640}{(H8799)} all wells{H4599} of water{H4325}, and mar{H3510}{(H8686)} every good{H2896} piece{H2513} of land with stones{H68}. 20 And it came to pass in the morning{H1242}, when the meat offering{H4503} was offered{H5927}{(H8800)}, that, behold, there came{H935}{(H8802)} water{H4325} by the way{H1870} of Edom{H123}, and the country{H776} was filled{H4390}{(H8735)} with water{H4325}. 21 And when all the Moabites{H4124} heard{H8085}{(H8804)} that the kings{H4428} were come up{H5927}{(H8804)} to fight{H3898}{(H8736)} against them, they gathered{H6817}{(H8735)} all that were able to put{H2296}{(H8802)} on armour{H2290}, and upward{H4605}, and stood{H5975}{(H8799)} in the border{H1366}. 22 And they rose up early{H7925}{(H8686)} in the morning{H1242}, and the sun{H8121} shone{H2224}{(H8804)} upon the water{H4325}, and the Moabites{H4124} saw{H7200}{(H8799)} the water{H4325} on the other side{H5048} as red{H122} as blood{H1818}: 23 And they said{H559}{(H8799)}, This is blood{H1818}: the kings{H4428} are surely{H2717}{(H8715)} slain{H2717}{(H8738)}, and they have smitten{H5221}{(H8686)} one{H376} another{H7453}: now therefore, Moab{H4124}, to the spoil{H7998}. 24 And when they came{H935}{(H8799)} to the camp{H4264} of Israel{H3478}, the Israelites{H3478} rose up{H6965}{(H8799)} and smote{H5221}{(H8686)} the Moabites{H4124}, so that they fled{H5127}{(H8799)} before{H6440} them: but they went forward{H5221}{(H8686)} smiting{H5221}{(H8687)} the Moabites{H4124}, even in their country. 25 And they beat down{H2040}{(H8799)} the cities{H5892}, and on every good{H2896} piece{H2513} of land cast{H7993}{(H8686)} every man{H376} his stone{H68}, and filled{H4390}{(H8765)} it; and they stopped{H5640}{(H8799)} all the wells{H4599} of water{H4325}, and felled{H5307}{(H8686)} all the good{H2896} trees{H6086}: only in Kirharaseth{H7025} left{H7604}{(H8689)} they the stones{H68} thereof; howbeit the slingers{H7051} went about{H5437}{(H8799)} it, and smote{H5221}{(H8686)} it. 26 And when the king{H4428} of Moab{H4124} saw{H7200}{(H8799)} that the battle{H4421} was too sore{H2388}{(H8804)} for him, he took{H3947}{(H8799)} with him seven{H7651} hundred{H3967} men{H376} that drew{H8025}{(H8802)} swords{H2719}, to break through{H1234}{(H8687)} even unto the king{H4428} of Edom{H123}: but they could{H3201}{(H8804)} not. 27 Then he took{H3947}{(H8799)} his eldest{H1060} son{H1121} that should have reigned{H4427}{(H8799)} in his stead, and offered{H5927}{(H8686)} him for a burnt offering{H5930} upon the wall{H2346}. And there was great{H1419} indignation{H7110} against Israel{H3478}: and they departed{H5265}{(H8799)} from him, and returned{H7725}{(H8799)} to their own land{H776}.

Now he was riding{H7392}{(H8802)} upon his ass{H860}, and his two{H8147} servants{H5288} were with him. 23 And the ass{H860} saw{H7200}{(H8799)} the angel{H4397} of the LORD{H3068} standing{H5324}{(H8737)} in the way{H1870}, and his sword{H2719} drawn{H8025}{(H8803)} in his hand{H3027}: and the ass{H860} turned aside{H5186}{(H8799)} out of the way{H1870}, and went{H3212}{(H8799)} into the field{H7704}: and Balaam{H1109} smote{H5221}{(H8686)} the ass{H860}, to turn{H5186}{(H8687)} her into the way{H1870}. 24 But the angel{H4397} of the LORD{H3068} stood{H5975}{(H8799)} in a path{H4934} of the vineyards{H3754}, a wall{H1447} being on this side, and a wall{H1447} on that side. 25 And when the ass{H860} saw{H7200}{(H8799)} the angel{H4397} of the LORD{H3068}, she thrust{H3905}{(H8735)} herself unto the wall{H7023}, and crushed{H3905}{(H8799)} Balaam's{H1109} foot{H7272} against the wall{H7023}: and he smote{H5221}{(H8687)} her again{H3254}{(H8686)}. 26 And the angel{H4397} of the LORD{H3068} went{H5674}{(H8800)} further{H3254}{(H8686)}, and stood{H5975}{(H8799)} in a narrow{H6862} place{H4725}, where was no way{H1870} to turn{H5186}{(H8800)} either to the right hand{H3225} or to the left{H8040}. 27 And when the ass{H860} saw{H7200}{(H8799)} the angel{H4397} of the LORD{H3068}, she fell down{H7257}{(H8799)} under Balaam{H1109}: and Balaam's{H1109} anger{H639} was kindled{H2734}{(H8799)}, and he smote{H5221}{(H8686)} the ass{H860} with a staff{H4731}. 28 And the LORD{H3068} opened{H6605}{(H8799)} the mouth{H6310} of the ass{H860}, and she said{H559}{(H8799)} unto Balaam{H1109}, What have I done{H6213}{(H8804)} unto thee, that thou hast smitten{H5221}{(H8689)} me these three{H7969} times{H7272}? 29 And Balaam{H1109} said{H559}{(H8799)} unto the ass{H860}, Because thou hast mocked{H5953}{(H8694)} me: I would{H3863} there were{H3426} a sword{H2719} in mine hand{H3027}, for now would I kill{H2026}{(H8804)} thee. 30 And the ass{H860} said{H559}{(H8799)} unto Balaam{H1109}, Am not I thine ass{H860}, upon which thou hast ridden{H7392}{(H8804)} ever since I was thine unto this day{H3117}? was I ever{H5532}{(H8687)} wont{H5532}{(H8689)} to do so{H6213}{(H8800)} unto thee? And he said{H559}{(H8799)}, Nay. 31 Then the LORD{H3068} opened{H1540}{(H8762)} the eyes{H5869} of Balaam{H1109}, and he saw{H7200}{(H8799)} the angel{H4397} of the LORD{H3068} standing{H5324}{(H8737)} in the way{H1870}, and his sword{H2719} drawn{H8025}{(H8803)} in his hand{H3027}: and he bowed down{H6915}{(H8799)} his head, and fell flat{H7812}{(H8691)} on his face{H639}. 32 And the angel{H4397} of the LORD{H3068} said{H559}{(H8799)} unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten{H5221}{(H8689)} thine ass{H860} these three{H7969} times{H7272}? behold, I went out{H3318}{(H8804)} to withstand{H7854} thee, because thy way{H1870} is perverse{H3399}{(H8804)} before me: 33 And the ass{H860} saw{H7200}{(H8799)} me, and turned{H5186}{(H8799)} from me{H6440} these three{H7969} times{H7272}: unless{H194} she had turned{H5186}{(H8804)} from me{H6440}, surely now also I had slain{H2026}{(H8804)} thee, and saved her alive{H2421}{(H8689)}. 34 And Balaam{H1109} said{H559}{(H8799)} unto the angel{H4397} of the LORD{H3068}, I have sinned{H2398}{(H8804)}; for I knew{H3045}{(H8804)} not that thou stoodest{H5324}{(H8737)} in the way{H1870} against{H7125}{(H8800)} me: now therefore, if it displease thee{H7489}{(H8804)}{H5869}, I will get me back again{H7725}{(H8799)}. 35 And the angel{H4397} of the LORD{H3068} said{H559}{(H8799)} unto Balaam{H1109}, Go{H3212}{(H8798)} with the men{H582}: but only{H657} the word{H1697} that I shall speak{H1696}{(H8762)} unto thee, that thou shalt speak{H1696}{(H8762)}. So Balaam{H1109} went{H3212}{(H8799)} with the princes{H8269} of Balak{H1111}. 36 And when Balak{H1111} heard{H8085}{(H8799)} that Balaam{H1109} was come{H935}{(H8802)}, he went out{H3318}{(H8799)} to meet{H7125}{(H8800)} him unto a city{H5892} of Moab{H4124}, which is in the border{H1366} of Arnon{H769}, which is in the utmost{H7097} coast{H1366}. 37 And Balak{H1111} said{H559}{(H8799)} unto Balaam{H1109}, Did I not earnestly{H7971}{(H8800)} send{H7971}{(H8804)} unto thee to call{H7121}{(H8800)} thee? wherefore camest{H1980}{(H8804)} thou not unto me? am I not able{H3201}{(H8799)} indeed{H552} to promote thee to honour{H3513}{(H8763)}? 38 And Balaam{H1109} said{H559}{(H8799)} unto Balak{H1111}, Lo, I am come{H935}{(H8804)} unto thee: have I now any power{H3201}{(H8799)} at all{H3201}{(H8800)} to say{H1696}{(H8763)} any thing{H3972}? the word{H1697} that God{H430} putteth{H7760}{(H8799)} in my mouth{H6310}, that shall I speak{H1696}{(H8762)}. 39 And Balaam{H1109} went{H3212}{(H8799)} with Balak{H1111}, and they came{H935}{(H8799)} unto Kirjathhuzoth{H2351}{H7155}. 40 And Balak{H1111} offered{H2076}{(H8799)} oxen{H1241} and sheep{H6629}, and sent{H7971}{(H8762)} to Balaam{H1109}, and to the princes{H8269} that were with him. 41 And it came to pass on the morrow{H1242}, that Balak{H1111} took{H3947}{(H8799)} Balaam{H1109}, and brought him up{H5927}{(H8686)} into the high places{H1116} of Baal{H1120}, that thence he might see{H7200}{(H8799)} the utmost{H7097} part of the people{H5971}.
  • Num 24:1-9 : 1 And when Balaam{H1109} saw{H7200}{(H8799)} that it pleased{H5869}{H2895}{(H8804)} the LORD{H3068} to bless{H1288}{(H8763)} Israel{H3478}, he went{H1980}{(H8804)} not, as at other times{H6471}, to seek{H7125}{(H8800)} for enchantments{H5173}, but he set{H7896}{(H8799)} his face{H6440} toward the wilderness{H4057}. 2 And Balaam{H1109} lifted up{H5375}{(H8799)} his eyes{H5869}, and he saw{H7200}{(H8799)} Israel{H3478} abiding{H7931}{(H8802)} in his tents according to their tribes{H7626}; and the spirit{H7307} of God{H430} came upon him. 3 And he took up{H5375}{(H8799)} his parable{H4912}, and said{H559}{(H8799)}, Balaam{H1109} the son{H1121} of Beor{H1160} hath said{H5002}{(H8803)}, and the man{H1397} whose eyes{H5869} are open{H8365}{(H8803)} hath said{H5002}{(H8803)}: 4 He hath said{H5002}{(H8803)}, which heard{H8085}{(H8802)} the words{H561} of God{H410}, which saw{H2372}{(H8799)} the vision{H4236} of the Almighty{H7706}, falling{H5307}{(H8802)} into a trance, but having his eyes{H5869} open{H1540}{(H8803)}: 5 How goodly{H2895}{(H8804)} are thy tents{H168}, O Jacob{H3290}, and thy tabernacles{H4908}, O Israel{H3478}! 6 As the valleys{H5158} are they spread forth{H5186}{(H8738)}, as gardens{H1593} by the river's side{H5104}, as the trees of lign aloes{H174} which the LORD{H3068} hath planted{H5193}{(H8804)}, and as cedar trees{H730} beside the waters{H4325}. 7 He shall pour{H5140} the water{H4325} out{H5140}{(H8799)} of his buckets{H1805}, and his seed{H2233} shall be in many{H7227} waters{H4325}, and his king{H4428} shall be higher{H7311}{(H8799)} than Agag{H90}, and his kingdom{H4438} shall be exalted{H5375}{(H8691)}. 8 God{H410} brought him forth{H3318}{(H8688)} out of Egypt{H4714}; he hath as it were the strength{H8443} of an unicorn{H7214}: he shall eat up{H398}{(H8799)} the nations{H1471} his enemies{H6862}, and shall break{H1633}{(H8762)} their bones{H6106}, and pierce{H4272}{(H8799)} them through with his arrows{H2671}. 9 He couched{H3766}{(H8804)}, he lay down{H7901}{(H8804)} as a lion{H738}, and as a great lion{H3833}: who shall stir him up{H6965}{(H8686)}? Blessed{H1288}{(H8803)} is he that blesseth{H1288}{(H8764)} thee, and cursed{H779}{(H8803)} is he that curseth{H779}{(H8802)} thee. 10 And Balak's{H1111} anger{H639} was kindled{H2734}{(H8799)} against Balaam{H1109}, and he smote{H5606} his hands{H3709} together{H5606}{(H8799)}: and Balak{H1111} said{H559}{(H8799)} unto Balaam{H1109}, I called{H7121}{(H8804)} thee to curse{H6895}{(H8800)} mine enemies{H341}{(H8802)}, and, behold, thou hast altogether{H1288}{(H8763)} blessed{H1288}{(H8765)} them these three{H7969} times{H6471}. 11 Therefore now flee{H1272}{(H8798)} thou to thy place{H4725}: I thought{H559}{(H8804)} to promote{H3513} thee unto great{H3513}{(H8763)} honour{H3513}{(H8762)}; but, lo, the LORD{H3068} hath kept thee back{H4513}{(H8804)} from honour{H3519}. 12 And Balaam{H1109} said{H559}{(H8799)} unto Balak{H1111}, Spake{H1696}{(H8765)} I not also to thy messengers{H4397} which thou sentest{H7971}{(H8804)} unto me, saying{H559}{(H8800)}, 13 If Balak{H1111} would give{H5414}{(H8799)} me his house{H1004} full{H4393} of silver{H3701} and gold{H2091}, I cannot{H3201}{(H8799)} go beyond{H5674}{(H8800)} the commandment{H6310} of the LORD{H3068}, to do{H6213}{(H8800)} either good{H2896} or bad{H7451} of mine own mind{H3820}; but what the LORD{H3068} saith{H1696}{(H8762)}, that will I speak{H1696}{(H8762)}? 14 And now, behold, I go{H1980}{(H8802)} unto my people{H5971}: come{H3212}{(H8798)} therefore, and I will advertise{H3289}{(H8799)} thee what this people{H5971} shall do{H6213}{(H8799)} to thy people{H5971} in the latter{H319} days{H3117}. 15 And he took up{H5375}{(H8799)} his parable{H4912}, and said{H559}{(H8799)}, Balaam{H1109} the son{H1121} of Beor{H1160} hath said{H5002}{(H8803)}, and the man{H1397} whose eyes{H5869} are open{H8365}{(H8803)} hath said{H5002}{(H8803)}: 16 He hath said{H5002}{(H8803)}, which heard{H8085}{(H8802)} the words{H561} of God{H410}, and knew{H3045}{(H8802)} the knowledge{H1847} of the most High{H5945}, which saw{H2372}{(H8799)} the vision{H4236} of the Almighty{H7706}, falling{H5307}{(H8802)} into a trance, but having his eyes{H5869} open{H1540}{(H8803)}: 17 I shall see{H7200}{(H8799)} him, but not now: I shall behold{H7789}{(H8799)} him, but not nigh{H7138}: there shall come{H1869}{(H8804)} a Star{H3556} out of Jacob{H3290}, and a Sceptre{H7626} shall rise{H6965}{(H8804)} out of Israel{H3478}, and shall smite{H4272}{(H8804)} the corners{H6285} of Moab{H4124}, and destroy{H6979}{(H8773)} all the children{H1121} of Sheth{H8352}{(H8676)}{H8351}. 18 And Edom{H123} shall be a possession{H3424}, Seir{H8165} also shall be a possession{H3424} for his enemies{H341}{(H8802)}; and Israel{H3478} shall do{H6213}{(H8802)} valiantly{H2428}. 19 Out of Jacob{H3290} shall come he that shall have dominion{H7287}{(H8799)}, and shall destroy{H6}{(H8689)} him that remaineth{H8300} of the city{H5892}. 20 And when he looked{H7200}{(H8799)} on Amalek{H6002}, he took up{H5375}{(H8799)} his parable{H4912}, and said{H559}{(H8799)}, Amalek{H6002} was the first{H7225} of the nations{H1471}; but his latter{H319} end shall be that he perish{H8} for ever{H5703}. 21 And he looked{H7200}{(H8799)} on the Kenites{H7017}, and took up{H5375}{(H8799)} his parable{H4912}, and said{H559}{(H8799)}, Strong{H386} is thy dwellingplace{H4186}, and thou puttest{H7760}{(H8798)} thy nest{H7064} in a rock{H5553}. 22 Nevertheless the Kenite{H7014} shall{H518} be wasted{H1197}{(H8763)}, until Asshur{H804} shall carry thee away captive{H7617}{(H8799)}. 23 And he took up{H5375}{(H8799)} his parable{H4912}, and said{H559}{(H8799)}, Alas{H188}, who shall live{H2421}{(H8799)} when God{H410} doeth{H7760}{(H8800)} this! 24 And ships{H6716} shall come from the coast{H3027} of Chittim{H3794}, and shall afflict{H6031}{(H8765)} Asshur{H804}, and shall afflict{H6031}{(H8765)} Eber{H5677}, and he also shall perish{H8} for ever{H5703}. 25 And Balaam{H1109} rose up{H6965}{(H8799)}, and went{H3212}{(H8799)} and returned{H7725}{(H8799)} to his place{H4725}: and Balak{H1111} also went{H1980}{(H8804)} his way{H1870}.
