And they said{H559}{(H8799)}, There was no harlot{H6948} in this{H2088} place. 22 And he returned{H7725}{(H8799)} to Judah{H3063}, and said{H559}{(H8799)}, I cannot{H3808} find{H4672}{(H8804)} her; and also the men{H582} of the place{H4725} said{H559}{(H8804)}, that there was no harlot{H6948} in this place. 23 And Judah{H3063} said{H559}{(H8799)}, Let her take{H3947}{(H8799)} it to her, lest we be shamed{H937}: behold, I sent{H7971}{(H8804)} this kid{H1423}, and thou hast not found{H4672}{(H8804)} her. 24 And it came to pass about three{H7969} months{H2320} after, that it was told{H5046}{(H8714)} Judah{H3063}, saying{H559}{(H8800)}, Tamar{H8559} thy daughter in law{H3618} hath played the harlot{H2181}{(H8804)}; and also, behold, she is with child{H2030} by whoredom{H2183}. And Judah{H3063} said{H559}{(H8799)}, Bring her forth{H3318}{(H8685)}, and let her be burnt{H8313}{(H8735)}. 25 When she was brought forth{H3318}{(H8716)}, she sent{H7971}{(H8804)} to her father in law{H2524}, saying{H559}{(H8800)}, By the man{H376}, whose these are, am I with child{H2030}: and she said{H559}{(H8799)}, Discern{H5234}{(H8685)}, I pray thee, whose are these, the signet{H2858}, and bracelets{H6616}, and staff{H4294}. 26 And Judah{H3063} acknowledged{H5234}{(H8686)} them, and said{H559}{(H8799)}, She hath been more righteous{H6663}{(H8804)} than I; because that I gave{H5414}{(H8804)} her not to Shelah{H7956} my son{H1121}. And he knew her{H3045}{(H8800)} again{H3254}{(H8804)} no more. 27 And it came to pass in the time{H6256} of her travail{H3205}{(H8800)}, that, behold, twins{H8380} were in her womb{H990}. 28 And it came to pass, when she travailed{H3205}{(H8800)}, that the one put out{H5414}{(H8799)} his hand{H3027}: and the midwife{H3205}{(H8764)} took{H3947}{(H8799)} and bound{H7194}{(H8799)} upon his hand{H3027} a scarlet thread{H8144}, saying{H559}{(H8800)}, This came out{H3318}{(H8804)} first{H7223}. 29 And it came to pass, as he drew back{H7725}{(H8688)} his hand{H3027}, that, behold, his brother{H251} came out{H3318}{(H8804)}: and she said{H559}{(H8799)}, How hast thou broken forth{H6555}{(H8804)}? this breach{H6556} be upon thee: therefore his name{H8034} was called{H7121}{(H8799)} Pharez{H6557}. 30 And afterward{H310} came out{H3318}{(H8804)} his brother{H251}, that had the scarlet thread{H8144} upon his hand{H3027}: and his name{H8034} was called{H7121}{(H8799)} Zarah{H2226}.

Gen 44:18-34 : 18 Then Judah{H3063} came near{H5066}{(H8799)} unto him, and said{H559}{(H8799)}, Oh{H994} my lord{H113}, let thy servant{H5650}, I pray thee, speak{H1696}{(H8762)} a word{H1697} in my lord's{H113} ears{H241}, and let not thine anger{H639} burn{H2734}{(H8799)} against thy servant{H5650}: for thou art even as Pharaoh{H6547}. 19 My lord{H113} asked{H7592}{(H8804)} his servants{H5650}, saying{H559}{(H8800)}, Have{H3426} ye a father{H1}, or a brother{H251}? 20 And we said{H559}{(H8799)} unto my lord{H113}, We have{H3426} a father{H1}, an old man{H2205}, and a child{H3206} of his old age{H2208}, a little one{H6996}; and his brother{H251} is dead{H4191}{(H8804)}, and he alone is left{H3498}{(H8735)} of his mother{H517}, and his father{H1} loveth{H157}{(H8804)} him. 21 And thou saidst{H559}{(H8799)} unto thy servants{H5650}, Bring him down{H3381}{(H8685)} unto me, that I may set{H7760}{(H8799)} mine eyes{H5869} upon him. 22 And we said{H559}{(H8799)} unto my lord{H113}, The lad{H5288} cannot{H3201}{(H8799)} leave{H5800}{(H8800)} his father{H1}: for if he should leave{H5800}{(H8804)} his father{H1}, his father would die{H4191}{(H8804)}. 23 And thou saidst{H559}{(H8799)} unto thy servants{H5650}, Except{H3808} your youngest{H6996} brother{H251} come down{H3381}{(H8799)} with you, ye shall see{H7200}{H3254} my face{H6440} no more{H7200}{(H8800)}{H3254}{(H8686)}. 24 And it came to pass when we came up{H5927}{(H8804)} unto thy servant{H5650} my father{H1}, we told{H5046}{(H8686)} him the words{H1697} of my lord{H113}. 25 And our father{H1} said{H559}{(H8799)}, Go again{H7725}{(H8798)}, and buy{H7666}{(H8798)} us a little{H4592} food{H400}. 26 And we said{H559}{(H8799)}, We cannot{H3201}{(H8799)} go down{H3381}{(H8800)}: if our youngest{H6996} brother{H251} be{H3426} with us, then will we go down{H3381}{(H8804)}: for we may{H3201}{(H8799)} not see{H7200}{(H8800)} the man's{H376} face{H6440}, except{H369} our youngest{H6996} brother{H251} be with us. 27 And thy servant{H5650} my father{H1} said{H559}{(H8799)} unto us, Ye know{H3045}{(H8804)} that my wife{H802} bare{H3205}{(H8804)} me two{H8147} sons: 28 And the one{H259} went out{H3318}{(H8799)} from me, and I said{H559}{(H8799)}, Surely{H2963}{(H8800)} he is torn in pieces{H2963}{(H8776)}; and I saw him{H7200}{(H8804)} not since{H2008}: 29 And if ye take{H3947}{(H8804)} this also from{H5973} me{H6440}, and mischief{H611} befall him{H7136}{(H8804)}, ye shall bring down{H3381}{(H8689)} my gray hairs{H7872} with sorrow{H7451} to the grave{H7585}. 30 Now therefore when I come{H935}{(H8800)} to thy servant{H5650} my father{H1}, and the lad{H5288} be not with us; seeing that his life{H5315} is bound up{H7194}{(H8803)} in the lad's life{H5315}; 31 It shall come to pass, when he seeth{H7200}{(H8800)} that the lad{H5288} is not with us, that he will die{H4191}{(H8804)}: and thy servants{H5650} shall bring down{H3381}{(H8689)} the gray hairs{H7872} of thy servant{H5650} our father{H1} with sorrow{H3015} to the grave{H7585}. 32 For thy servant{H5650} became surety{H6148}{(H8804)} for the lad{H5288} unto{H5973} my father{H1}, saying{H559}{(H8800)}, If I bring{H935}{(H8686)} him not unto thee, then I shall bear the blame{H2398}{(H8804)} to my father{H1} for ever{H3117}. 33 Now therefore, I pray thee, let thy servant{H5650} abide{H3427}{(H8799)} instead of the lad{H5288} a bondman{H5650} to my lord{H113}; and let the lad{H5288} go up{H5927}{(H8799)} with his brethren{H251}. 34 For how{H349} shall I go up{H5927}{(H8799)} to my father{H1}, and the lad{H5288} be not with me? lest peradventure I see{H7200}{(H8799)} the evil{H7451} that shall come on{H4672}{(H8799)} my father{H1}.
