- 2 Sam 10:1-9 : 1 And it came to pass after this{H310}, that the king{H4428} of the children{H1121} of Ammon{H5983} died{H4191}{(H8799)}, and Hanun{H2586} his son{H1121} reigned{H4427}{(H8799)} in his stead. 2 Then said{H559}{(H8799)} David{H1732}, I will shew{H6213}{(H8799)} kindness{H2617} unto Hanun{H2586} the son{H1121} of Nahash{H5176}, as his father{H1} shewed{H6213}{(H8804)} kindness{H2617} unto me. And David{H1732} sent{H7971}{(H8799)} to comfort{H5162}{(H8763)} him by the hand{H3027} of his servants{H5650} for his father{H1}. And David's{H1732} servants{H5650} came{H935}{(H8799)} into the land{H776} of the children{H1121} of Ammon{H5983}. 3 And the princes{H8269} of the children{H1121} of Ammon{H5983} said{H559}{(H8799)} unto Hanun{H2586} their lord{H113}, Thinkest{H5869} thou that David{H1732} doth honour{H3513}{(H8764)} thy father{H1}, that he hath sent{H7971}{(H8804)} comforters{H5162}{(H8764)} unto thee? hath not David{H1732} rather sent{H7971}{(H8804)} his servants{H5650} unto thee, to{H5668} search{H2713}{(H8800)} the city{H5892}, and to spy it out{H7270}{(H8763)}, and to overthrow{H2015}{(H8800)} it? 4 Wherefore Hanun{H2586} took{H3947}{(H8799)} David's{H1732} servants{H5650}, and shaved off{H1548}{(H8762)} the one half{H2677} of their beards{H2206}, and cut off{H3772}{(H8799)} their garments{H4063} in the middle{H2677}, even to their buttocks{H8357}, and sent them away{H7971}{(H8762)}. 5 When they told{H5046}{(H8686)} it unto David{H1732}, he sent{H7971}{(H8799)} to meet{H7125}{(H8800)} them, because the men{H582} were greatly{H3966} ashamed{H3637}{(H8737)}: and the king{H4428} said{H559}{(H8799)}, Tarry{H3427}{(H8798)} at Jericho{H3405} until your beards{H2206} be grown{H6779}{(H8762)}, and then return{H7725}{(H8804)}. 6 And when the children{H1121} of Ammon{H5983} saw{H7200}{(H8799)} that they stank{H887}{(H8738)} before David{H1732}, the children{H1121} of Ammon{H5983} sent{H7971}{(H8799)} and hired{H7936}{(H8799)} the Syrians{H758} of Bethrehob{H1050}, and the Syrians{H758} of Zoba{H6678}, twenty{H6242} thousand{H505} footmen{H7273}, and of king{H4428} Maacah{H4601} a thousand{H505} men{H376}, and of Ishtob{H382} twelve{H6240}{H8147} thousand{H505} men{H376}. 7 And when David{H1732} heard{H8085}{(H8799)} of it, he sent{H7971}{(H8799)} Joab{H3097}, and all the host{H6635} of the mighty men{H1368}. 8 And the children{H1121} of Ammon{H5983} came out{H3318}{(H8799)}, and put the battle{H4421} in array{H6186}{(H8799)} at the entering in{H6607} of the gate{H8179}: and the Syrians{H758} of Zoba{H6678}, and of Rehob{H7340}, and Ishtob{H382}, and Maacah{H4601}, were by themselves{H905} in the field{H7704}. 9 When Joab{H3097} saw{H7200}{(H8799)} that the front{H6440} of the battle{H4421} was against him before{H6440} and behind{H268}, he chose{H977}{(H8799)} of all the choice{H977}{(H8803)} men of Israel{H3478}, and put them in array{H6186}{(H8799)} against{H7125}{(H8800)} the Syrians{H758}: 10 And the rest{H3499} of the people{H5971} he delivered{H5414}{(H8804)} into the hand{H3027} of Abishai{H52} his brother{H251}, that he might put them in array{H6186}{(H8799)} against{H7125}{(H8800)} the children{H1121} of Ammon{H5983}. 11 And he said{H559}{(H8799)}, If the Syrians{H758} be too strong{H2388}{(H8799)} for me, then thou shalt help{H3444} me: but if the children{H1121} of Ammon{H5983} be too strong{H2388}{(H8799)} for thee, then I will come{H1980}{(H8804)} and help{H3467}{(H8687)} thee. 12 Be of good courage{H2388}{(H8798)}, and let us play the men{H2388}{(H8691)} for our people{H5971}, and for the cities{H5892} of our God{H430}: and the LORD{H3068} do{H6213}{(H8799)} that which seemeth{H5869} him good{H2896}. 13 And Joab{H3097} drew nigh{H5066}{(H8799)}, and the people{H5971} that were with him, unto the battle{H4421} against the Syrians{H758}: and they fled{H5127}{(H8799)} before{H6440} him. 14 And when the children{H1121} of Ammon{H5983} saw{H7200}{(H8804)} that the Syrians{H758} were fled{H5127}{(H8804)}, then fled{H5127}{(H8799)} they also before{H6440} Abishai{H52}, and entered{H935}{(H8799)} into the city{H5892}. So Joab{H3097} returned{H7725}{(H8799)} from the children{H1121} of Ammon{H5983}, and came{H935}{(H8799)} to Jerusalem{H3389}. 15 And when the Syrians{H758} saw{H7200}{(H8799)} that they were smitten{H5062}{(H8738)} before{H6440} Israel{H3478}, they gathered{H622}{(H8735)} themselves together{H3162}. 16 And Hadarezer{H1928} sent{H7971}{(H8799)}, and brought out{H3318}{(H8686)} the Syrians{H758} that were beyond{H5676} the river{H5104}: and they came{H935}{(H8799)} to Helam{H2431}; and Shobach{H7731} the captain{H8269} of the host{H6635} of Hadarezer{H1928} went before{H6440} them. 17 And when it was told{H5046}{(H8714)} David{H1732}, he gathered{H622} all Israel{H3478} together{H622}{(H8799)}, and passed over{H5674}{(H8799)} Jordan{H3383}, and came{H935}{(H8799)} to Helam{H2431}. And the Syrians{H758} set themselves in array{H6186}{(H8799)} against{H7125}{(H8800)} David{H1732}, and fought{H3898}{(H8735)} with him. 18 And the Syrians{H758} fled{H5127}{(H8799)} before{H6440} Israel{H3478}; and David{H1732} slew{H2026}{(H8799)} the men of seven{H7651} hundred{H3967} chariots{H7393} of the Syrians{H758}, and forty{H705} thousand{H505} horsemen{H6571}, and smote{H5221}{(H8689)} Shobach{H7731} the captain{H8269} of their host{H6635}, who died{H4191}{(H8799)} there. 19 And when all the kings{H4428} that were servants{H5650} to Hadarezer{H1928} saw{H7200}{(H8799)} that they were smitten{H5062}{(H8738)} before{H6440} Israel{H3478}, they made peace{H7999}{(H8686)} with Israel{H3478}, and served{H5647}{(H8799)} them. So the Syrians{H758} feared{H3372}{(H8799)} to help{H3467}{(H8687)} the children{H1121} of Ammon{H5983} any more.
- 2 Chr 14:1-9 : 1 So Abijah{H29} slept{H7901}{(H8799)} with his fathers{H1}, and they buried{H6912}{(H8799)} him in the city{H5892} of David{H1732}: and Asa{H609} his son{H1121} reigned{H4427}{(H8799)} in his stead. In his days{H3117} the land{H776} was quiet{H8252}{(H8804)} ten{H6235} years{H8141}. 2 And Asa{H609} did{H6213}{(H8799)} that which was good{H2896} and right{H3477} in the eyes{H5869} of the LORD{H3068} his God{H430}: 3 For he took away{H5493}{(H8686)} the altars{H4196} of the strange{H5236} gods, and the high places{H1116}, and brake down{H7665}{(H8762)} the images{H4676}, and cut down{H1438}{(H8762)} the groves{H842}: 4 And commanded{H559}{(H8799)} Judah{H3063} to seek{H1875}{(H8800)} the LORD{H3068} God{H430} of their fathers{H1}, and to do{H6213}{(H8800)} the law{H8451} and the commandment{H4687}. 5 Also he took away{H5493}{(H8686)} out of all the cities{H5892} of Judah{H3063} the high places{H1116} and the images{H2553}: and the kingdom{H4467} was quiet{H8252}{(H8799)} before{H6440} him. 6 And he built{H1129}{(H8799)} fenced{H4694} cities{H5892} in Judah{H3063}: for the land{H776} had rest{H8252}{(H8804)}, and he had no war{H4421} in those years{H8141}; because the LORD{H3068} had given him rest{H5117}{(H8689)}. 7 Therefore he said{H559}{(H8799)} unto Judah{H3063}, Let us build{H1129}{(H8799)} these cities{H5892}, and make about{H5437}{(H8686)} them walls{H2346}, and towers{H4026}, gates{H1817}, and bars{H1280}, while the land{H776} is yet before{H6440} us; because we have sought{H1875}{(H8804)} the LORD{H3068} our God{H430}, we have sought{H1875}{(H8804)} him, and he hath given us rest{H5117}{(H8799)} on every side{H5439}. So they built{H1129}{(H8799)} and prospered{H6743}{(H8686)}. 8 And Asa{H609} had an army{H2428} of men that bare{H5375}{(H8802)} targets{H6793} and spears{H7420}, out of Judah{H3063} three{H7969} hundred{H3967} thousand{H505}; and out of Benjamin{H1144}, that bare{H5375}{(H8802)} shields{H4043} and drew{H1869}{(H8802)} bows{H7198}, two hundred{H3967} and fourscore{H8084} thousand{H505}: all these were mighty men{H1368} of valour{H2428}. 9 And there came out{H3318}{(H8799)} against them Zerah{H2226} the Ethiopian{H3569} with an host{H2428} of a thousand{H505} thousand{H505}, and three{H7969} hundred{H3967} chariots{H4818}; and came{H935}{(H8799)} unto Mareshah{H4762}. 10 Then Asa{H609} went out{H3318}{(H8799)} against{H6440} him, and they set the battle{H4421} in array{H6186}{(H8799)} in the valley{H1516} of Zephathah{H6859} at Mareshah{H4762}. 11 And Asa{H609} cried{H7121}{(H8799)} unto the LORD{H3068} his God{H430}, and said{H559}{(H8799)}, LORD{H3068}, it is nothing with thee to help{H5826}{(H8800)}, whether{H996} with many{H7227}, or with them that have no power{H3581}: help{H5826}{(H8798)} us, O LORD{H3068} our God{H430}; for we rest{H8172}{(H8738)} on thee, and in thy name{H8034} we go{H935}{(H8804)} against this multitude{H1995}. O LORD{H3068}, thou art our God{H430}; let not man{H582} prevail{H6113}{(H8799)} against thee. 12 So the LORD{H3068} smote{H5062}{(H8799)} the Ethiopians{H3569} before{H6440} Asa{H609}, and before{H6440} Judah{H3063}; and the Ethiopians{H3569} fled{H5127}{(H8799)}. 13 And Asa{H609} and the people{H5971} that were with him pursued{H7291}{(H8799)} them unto Gerar{H1642}: and the Ethiopians{H3569} were overthrown{H5307}{(H8799)}, that they could not recover{H4241} themselves; for they were destroyed{H7665}{(H8738)} before{H6440} the LORD{H3068}, and before{H6440} his host{H4264}; and they carried away{H5375}{(H8799)} very{H3966} much{H7235}{(H8687)} spoil{H7998}. 14 And they smote{H5221}{(H8686)} all the cities{H5892} round about{H5439} Gerar{H1642}; for the fear{H6343} of the LORD{H3068} came upon them: and they spoiled{H962}{(H8799)} all the cities{H5892}; for there was exceeding much{H7227} spoil{H961} in them. 15 They smote{H5221}{(H8689)} also the tents{H168} of cattle{H4735}, and carried away{H7617}{(H8799)} sheep{H6629} and camels{H1581} in abundance{H7230}, and returned{H7725}{(H8799)} to Jerusalem{H3389}.
- 2 Chr 20:1-9 : 1 It came to pass after this{H310} also, that the children{H1121} of Moab{H4124}, and the children{H1121} of Ammon{H5983}, and with them other beside the Ammonites{H5984}, came{H935}{(H8804)} against Jehoshaphat{H3092} to battle{H4421}. 2 Then there came{H935}{(H8799)} some that told{H5046}{(H8686)} Jehoshaphat{H3092}, saying{H559}{(H8800)}, There cometh{H935}{(H8802)} a great{H7227} multitude{H1995} against thee from beyond{H5676} the sea{H3220} on this side Syria{H758}; and, behold, they be in Hazazontamar{H2688}, which is Engedi{H5872}. 3 And Jehoshaphat{H3092} feared{H3372}{(H8799)}, and set{H5414}{(H8799)} himself{H6440} to seek{H1875}{(H8800)} the LORD{H3068}, and proclaimed{H7121}{(H8799)} a fast{H6685} throughout{H5921} all Judah{H3063}. 4 And Judah{H3063} gathered themselves together{H6908}{(H8735)}, to ask{H1245}{(H8763)} help of the LORD{H3068}: even out of all the cities{H5892} of Judah{H3063} they came{H935}{(H8804)} to seek{H1245}{(H8763)} the LORD{H3068}. 5 And Jehoshaphat{H3092} stood{H5975}{(H8799)} in the congregation{H6951} of Judah{H3063} and Jerusalem{H3389}, in the house{H1004} of the LORD{H3068}, before{H6440} the new{H2319} court{H2691}, 6 And said{H559}{(H8799)}, O LORD{H3068} God{H430} of our fathers{H1}, art not thou God{H430} in heaven{H8064}? and rulest{H4910}{(H8802)} not thou over all the kingdoms{H4467} of the heathen{H1471}? and in thine hand{H3027} is there not power{H3581} and might{H1369}, so that none is able to withstand{H3320}{(H8692)} thee? 7 Art not thou our God{H430}, who didst drive out{H3423}{(H8689)} the inhabitants{H3427}{(H8802)} of this land{H776} before{H6440} thy people{H5971} Israel{H3478}, and gavest{H5414}{(H8799)} it to the seed{H2233} of Abraham{H85} thy friend{H157}{(H8802)} for ever{H5769}? 8 And they dwelt{H3427}{(H8799)} therein, and have built{H1129}{(H8799)} thee a sanctuary{H4720} therein for thy name{H8034}, saying{H559}{(H8800)}, 9 If, when evil{H7451} cometh{H935}{(H8799)} upon us, as the sword{H2719}, judgment{H8196}, or pestilence{H1698}, or famine{H7458}, we stand{H5975}{(H8799)} before{H6440} this house{H1004}, and in thy presence{H6440},(for thy name{H8034} is in this house{H1004},) and cry{H2199}{(H8799)} unto thee in our affliction{H6869}, then thou wilt hear{H8085}{(H8799)} and help{H3467}{(H8686)}. 10 And now, behold, the children{H1121} of Ammon{H5983} and Moab{H4124} and mount{H2022} Seir{H8165}, whom thou wouldest not let{H5414}{(H8804)} Israel{H3478} invade{H935}{(H8800)}, when they came out{H935}{(H8800)} of the land{H776} of Egypt{H4714}, but they turned{H5493}{(H8804)} from them, and destroyed{H8045}{(H8689)} them not; 11 Behold, I say, how they reward{H1580}{(H8802)} us, to come{H935}{(H8800)} to cast us out{H1644}{(H8763)} of thy possession{H3425}, which thou hast given us to inherit{H3423}{(H8689)}. 12 O our God{H430}, wilt thou not judge{H8199}{(H8799)} them? for we have no might{H3581} against{H6440} this great{H7227} company{H1995} that cometh{H935}{(H8802)} against us; neither know{H3045}{(H8799)} we{H587} what to do{H6213}{(H8799)}: but our eyes{H5869} are upon thee. 13 And all Judah{H3063} stood{H5975}{(H8802)} before{H6440} the LORD{H3068}, with{H1571} their little ones{H2945}, their wives{H802}, and their children{H1121}. 14 Then upon Jahaziel{H3166} the son{H1121} of Zechariah{H2148}, the son{H1121} of Benaiah{H1141}, the son{H1121} of Jeiel{H3273}, the son{H1121} of Mattaniah{H4983}, a Levite{H3881} of the sons{H1121} of Asaph{H623}, came the Spirit{H7307} of the LORD{H3068} in the midst{H8432} of the congregation{H6951}; 15 And he said{H559}{(H8799)}, Hearken{H7181}{(H8685)} ye, all Judah{H3063}, and ye inhabitants{H3427}{(H8802)} of Jerusalem{H3389}, and thou king{H4428} Jehoshaphat{H3092}, Thus saith{H559}{(H8804)} the LORD{H3068} unto you, Be not afraid{H3372}{(H8799)} nor dismayed{H2865}{(H8735)} by reason{H6440} of this great{H7227} multitude{H1995}; for the battle{H4421} is not yours, but God's{H430}. 16 To morrow{H4279} go ye down{H3381}{(H8798)} against them: behold, they come up{H5927}{(H8802)} by the cliff{H4608} of Ziz{H6732}; and ye shall find{H4672}{(H8804)} them at the end{H5490} of the brook{H5158}, before{H6440} the wilderness{H4057} of Jeruel{H3385}. 17 Ye shall not need to fight{H3898}{(H8736)} in this{H2063} battle: set{H3320}{(H8690)} yourselves, stand{H5975}{(H8798)} ye still, and see{H7200}{(H8798)} the salvation{H3444} of the LORD{H3068} with you, O Judah{H3063} and Jerusalem{H3389}: fear{H3372}{(H8799)} not, nor be dismayed{H2865}{(H8735)}; to morrow{H4279} go out{H3318}{(H8798)} against{H6440} them: for the LORD{H3068} will be with you. 18 And Jehoshaphat{H3092} bowed{H6915}{(H8799)} his head with his face{H639} to the ground{H776}: and all Judah{H3063} and the inhabitants{H3427}{(H8802)} of Jerusalem{H3389} fell{H5307}{(H8804)} before{H6440} the LORD{H3068}, worshipping{H7812}{(H8692)} the LORD{H3068}. 19 And the Levites{H3881}, of the children{H1121} of the Kohathites{H6956}, and of the children{H1121} of the Korhites{H7145}, stood up{H6965}{(H8799)} to praise{H1984}{(H8763)} the LORD{H3068} God{H430} of Israel{H3478} with a loud{H1419} voice{H6963} on high{H4605}. 20 And they rose early{H7925}{(H8686)} in the morning{H1242}, and went forth{H3318}{(H8799)} into the wilderness{H4057} of Tekoa{H8620}: and as they went forth{H3318}{(H8800)}, Jehoshaphat{H3092} stood{H5975}{(H8804)} and said{H559}{(H8799)}, Hear{H8085}{(H8798)} me, O Judah{H3063}, and ye inhabitants{H3427}{(H8802)} of Jerusalem{H3389}; Believe{H539}{(H8685)} in the LORD{H3068} your God{H430}, so shall ye be established{H539}{(H8735)}; believe{H539}{(H8685)} his prophets{H5030}, so shall ye prosper{H6743}{(H8685)}. 21 And when he had consulted{H3289}{(H8735)} with the people{H5971}, he appointed{H5975}{(H8686)} singers{H7891}{(H8789)} unto the LORD{H3068}, and that should praise{H1984}{(H8764)} the beauty{H1927} of holiness{H6944}, as they went out{H3318}{(H8800)} before{H6440} the army{H2502}{(H8803)}, and to say{H559}{(H8802)}, Praise{H3034}{(H8685)} the LORD{H3068}; for his mercy{H2617} endureth for ever{H5769}. 22 And when{H6256} they began{H2490}{(H8689)} to sing{H7440} and to praise{H8416}, the LORD{H3068} set{H5414}{(H8804)} ambushments{H693}{(H8764)} against the children{H1121} of Ammon{H5983}, Moab{H4124}, and mount{H2022} Seir{H8165}, which were come{H935}{(H8802)} against Judah{H3063}; and they were smitten{H5062}{(H8735)}. 23 For the children{H1121} of Ammon{H5983} and Moab{H4124} stood up{H5975}{(H8799)} against the inhabitants{H3427}{(H8802)} of mount{H2022} Seir{H8165}, utterly to slay{H2763}{(H8687)} and destroy{H8045}{(H8687)} them: and when they had made an end{H3615}{(H8763)} of the inhabitants{H3427}{(H8802)} of Seir{H8165}, every one{H376} helped{H5826}{(H8804)} to destroy{H4889} another{H7453}. 24 And when Judah{H3063} came{H935}{(H8804)} toward the watch tower{H4707}{(H8677)}{H4708} in the wilderness{H4057}, they looked{H6437}{(H8799)} unto the multitude{H1995}, and, behold, they were dead bodies{H6297} fallen{H5307}{(H8802)} to the earth{H776}, and none escaped{H6413}. 25 And when Jehoshaphat{H3092} and his people{H5971} came{H935}{(H8799)} to take away{H962}{(H8800)} the spoil{H7998} of them, they found{H4672}{(H8799)} among them in abundance{H7230} both riches{H7399} with the dead bodies{H6297}, and precious{H2532} jewels{H3627}, which they stripped off{H5337}{(H8762)} for themselves, more than{H369} they could carry away{H4853}: and they were three{H7969} days{H3117} in gathering{H962}{(H8802)} of the spoil{H7998}, it was so much{H7227}. 26 And on the fourth{H7243} day{H3117} they assembled{H6950}{(H8738)} themselves in the valley{H6010} of Berachah{H1294}; for there they blessed{H1288}{(H8765)} the LORD{H3068}: therefore the name{H8034} of the same place{H4725} was called{H7121}{(H8804)}, The valley{H6010} of Berachah{H1294}, unto this day{H3117}. 27 Then they returned{H7725}{(H8799)}, every man{H376} of Judah{H3063} and Jerusalem{H3389}, and Jehoshaphat{H3092} in the forefront{H7218} of them, to go again{H7725}{(H8800)} to Jerusalem{H3389} with joy{H8057}; for the LORD{H3068} had made them to rejoice{H8055}{(H8765)} over their enemies{H341}{(H8802)}. 28 And they came{H935}{(H8799)} to Jerusalem{H3389} with psalteries{H5035} and harps{H3658} and trumpets{H2689} unto the house{H1004} of the LORD{H3068}. 29 And the fear{H6343} of God{H430} was on all the kingdoms{H4467} of those countries{H776}, when they had heard{H8085}{(H8800)} that the LORD{H3068} fought{H3898}{(H8738)} against the enemies{H341}{(H8802)} of Israel{H3478}. 30 So the realm{H4438} of Jehoshaphat{H3092} was quiet{H8252}{(H8799)}: for his God{H430} gave him rest{H5117}{(H8799)} round about{H5439}. 31 And Jehoshaphat{H3092} reigned{H4427}{(H8799)} over Judah{H3063}: he was thirty{H7970} and five{H2568} years{H8141} old{H1121} when he began to reign{H4427}{(H8800)}, and he reigned{H4427}{(H8804)} twenty{H6242} and five{H2568} years{H8141} in Jerusalem{H3389}. And his mother's{H517} name{H8034} was Azubah{H5806} the daughter{H1323} of Shilhi{H7977}. 32 And he walked{H3212}{(H8799)} in the way{H1870} of Asa{H609} his father{H1}, and departed{H5493}{(H8804)} not from it, doing{H6213}{(H8800)} that which was right{H3477} in the sight{H5869} of the LORD{H3068}. 33 Howbeit the high places{H1116} were not taken away{H5493}{(H8804)}: for as yet the people{H5971} had not prepared{H3559}{(H8689)} their hearts{H3824} unto the God{H430} of their fathers{H1}. 34 Now the rest{H3499} of the acts{H1697} of Jehoshaphat{H3092}, first{H7223} and last{H314}, behold, they are written{H3789}{(H8803)} in the book{H1697} of Jehu{H3058} the son{H1121} of Hanani{H2607}, who is mentioned{H5927}{(H8717)} in the book{H5612} of the kings{H4428} of Israel{H3478}. 35 And after{H310} this did Jehoshaphat{H3092} king{H4428} of Judah{H3063} join{H2266}{(H8694)} himself with Ahaziah{H274} king{H4428} of Israel{H3478}, who did{H6213}{(H8800)} very wickedly{H7561}{(H8689)}: 36 And he joined{H2266}{(H8762)} himself with him to make{H6213}{(H8800)} ships{H591} to go{H3212}{(H8800)} to Tarshish{H8659}: and they made{H6213}{(H8799)} the ships{H591} in Eziongeber{H6100}. 37 Then Eliezer{H461} the son{H1121} of Dodavah{H1735} of Mareshah{H4762} prophesied{H5012}{(H8691)} against Jehoshaphat{H3092}, saying{H559}{(H8800)}, Because thou hast joined{H2266}{(H8692)} thyself with Ahaziah{H274}, the LORD{H3068} hath broken{H6555}{(H8804)} thy works{H4639}. And the ships{H591} were broken{H7665}{(H8735)}, that they were not able{H6113}{(H8804)} to go{H3212}{(H8800)} to Tarshish{H8659}.
- Job 40:21 : 21 He lieth{H7901}{(H8799)} under the shady trees{H6628}, in the covert{H5643} of the reed{H7070}, and fens{H1207}.
- Ps 2:12 : 12 Kiss{H5401}{(H8761)} the Son{H1248}, lest he be angry{H599}{(H8799)}, and ye perish{H6}{(H8799)} from the way{H1870}, when his wrath{H639} is kindled{H1197}{(H8799)} but a little{H4592}. Blessed{H835} are all they that put their trust{H2620}{(H8802)} in him.
- Ps 18:44 : 44 As soon as they hear{H8088}{H241} of me, they shall obey{H8085}{(H8735)} me: the strangers{H1121}{H5236} shall submit{H3584}{(H8762)} themselves unto me.
- Ps 22:12-13 : 12 Many{H7227} bulls{H6499} have compassed{H5437}{(H8804)} me: strong{H47} bulls of Bashan{H1316} have beset me round{H3803}{(H8765)}. 13 They gaped{H6475}{(H8804)} upon me with their mouths{H6310}, as a ravening{H2963}{(H8802)} and a roaring{H7580}{(H8802)} lion{H738}.
- Ps 89:10 : 10 Thou hast broken{H1792} Rahab{H7294} in pieces{H1792}{H8765)}, as one that is slain{H2491}; thou hast scattered{H6340}{H8765)} thine enemies{H341}{H8802)} with thy strong{H5797} arm{H2220}.
- Ps 120:7 : 7 I am for peace{H7965}: but when I speak{H1696}{(H8762)}, they are for war{H4421}.
- Isa 34:7 : 7 And the unicorns{H7214} shall come down{H3381}{(H8804)} with them, and the bullocks{H6499} with the bulls{H47}; and their land{H776} shall be soaked{H7301}{(H8765)} with blood{H1818}, and their dust{H6083} made fat{H1878}{(H8792)} with fatness{H2459}.
- Isa 37:1-9 : 1 And it came to pass, when king{H4428} Hezekiah{H2396} heard{H8085}{(H8800)} it, that he rent{H7167}{(H8799)} his clothes{H899}, and covered{H3680}{(H8691)} himself with sackcloth{H8242}, and went{H935}{(H8799)} into the house{H1004} of the LORD{H3068}. 2 And he sent{H7971}{(H8799)} Eliakim{H471}, who was over the household{H1004}, and Shebna{H7644} the scribe{H5608}{(H8802)}, and the elders{H2205} of the priests{H3548} covered{H3680}{(H8693)} with sackcloth{H8242}, unto Isaiah{H3470} the prophet{H5030} the son{H1121} of Amoz{H531}. 3 And they said{H559}{(H8799)} unto him, Thus saith{H559}{(H8804)} Hezekiah{H2396}, This day{H3117} is a day{H3117} of trouble{H6869}, and of rebuke{H8433}, and of blasphemy{H5007}: for the children{H1121} are come{H935}{(H8804)} to the birth{H4866}, and there is not strength{H3581} to bring forth{H3205}{(H8800)}. 4 It may be the LORD{H3068} thy God{H430} will hear{H8085}{(H8799)} the words{H1697} of Rabshakeh{H7262}, whom the king{H4428} of Assyria{H804} his master{H113} hath sent{H7971}{(H8804)} to reproach{H2778}{(H8763)} the living{H2416} God{H430}, and will reprove{H3198}{(H8689)} the words{H1697} which the LORD{H3068} thy God{H430} hath heard{H8085}{(H8804)}: wherefore lift up{H5375}{(H8804)} thy prayer{H8605} for the remnant{H7611} that is left{H4672}{(H8737)}. 5 So the servants{H5650} of king{H4428} Hezekiah{H2396} came{H935}{(H8799)} to Isaiah{H3470}. 6 And Isaiah{H3470} said{H559}{(H8799)} unto them, Thus shall ye say{H559}{(H8799)} unto your master{H113}, Thus saith{H559}{(H8804)} the LORD{H3068}, Be not afraid{H3372}{(H8799)} of{H6440} the words{H1697} that thou hast heard{H8085}{(H8804)}, wherewith the servants{H5288} of the king{H4428} of Assyria{H804} have blasphemed{H1442}{(H8765)} me. 7 Behold, I will send{H5414}{(H8802)} a blast{H7307} upon him, and he shall hear{H8085}{(H8804)} a rumour{H8052}, and return{H7725}{(H8804)} to his own land{H776}; and I will cause him to fall{H5307}{(H8689)} by the sword{H2719} in his own land{H776}. 8 So Rabshakeh{H7262} returned{H7725}{(H8799)}, and found{H4672}{(H8799)} the king{H4428} of Assyria{H804} warring{H3898}{(H8737)} against Libnah{H3841}: for he had heard{H8085}{(H8804)} that he was departed{H5265}{(H8804)} from Lachish{H3923}. 9 And he heard{H8085}{(H8799)} say{H559}{(H8800)} concerning Tirhakah{H8640} king{H4428} of Ethiopia{H3568}, He is come forth{H3318}{(H8804)} to make war{H3898}{(H8736)} with thee. And when he heard{H8085}{(H8799)} it, he sent{H7971}{(H8799)} messengers{H4397} to Hezekiah{H2396}, saying{H559}{(H8800)}, 10 Thus shall ye speak{H559}{(H8799)} to Hezekiah{H2396} king{H4428} of Judah{H3063}, saying{H559}{(H8800)}, Let not thy God{H430}, in whom thou trustest{H982}{(H8802)}, deceive{H5377}{(H8686)} thee, saying{H559}{(H8800)}, Jerusalem{H3389} shall not be given{H5414}{(H8735)} into the hand{H3027} of the king{H4428} of Assyria{H804}. 11 Behold, thou hast heard{H8085}{(H8804)} what the kings{H4428} of Assyria{H804} have done{H6213}{(H8804)} to all lands{H776} by destroying them utterly{H2763}{(H8687)}; and shalt thou be delivered{H5337}{(H8735)}? 12 Have the gods{H430} of the nations{H1471} delivered{H5337}{(H8689)} them which my fathers{H1} have destroyed{H7843}{(H8689)}, as Gozan{H1470}, and Haran{H2771}, and Rezeph{H7530}, and the children{H1121} of Eden{H5729} which were in Telassar{H8515}? 13 Where is the king{H4428} of Hamath{H2574}, and the king{H4428} of Arphad{H774}, and the king{H4428} of the city{H5892} of Sepharvaim{H5617}, Hena{H2012}, and Ivah{H5755}? 14 And Hezekiah{H2396} received{H3947}{(H8799)} the letter{H5612} from the hand{H3027} of the messengers{H4397}, and read{H7121}{(H8799)} it: and Hezekiah{H2396} went up{H5927}{(H8799)} unto the house{H1004} of the LORD{H3068}, and spread{H6566}{(H8799)} it before{H6440} the LORD{H3068}. 15 And Hezekiah{H2396} prayed{H6419}{(H8691)} unto the LORD{H3068}, saying{H559}{(H8800)}, 16 O LORD{H3068} of hosts{H6635}, God{H430} of Israel{H3478}, that dwellest{H3427}{(H8802)} between the cherubims{H3742}, thou art the God{H430}, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms{H4467} of the earth{H776}: thou hast made{H6213}{(H8804)} heaven{H8064} and earth{H776}. 17 Incline{H5186}{(H8685)} thine ear{H241}, O LORD{H3068}, and hear{H8085}{(H8798)}; open{H6491}{(H8798)} thine eyes{H5869}, O LORD{H3068}, and see{H7200}{(H8798)}: and hear{H8085}{(H8798)} all the words{H1697} of Sennacherib{H5576}, which hath sent{H7971}{(H8804)} to reproach{H2778}{(H8763)} the living{H2416} God{H430}. 18 Of a truth{H551}, LORD{H3068}, the kings{H4428} of Assyria{H804} have laid waste{H2717}{(H8689)} all the nations{H776}, and their countries{H776}, 19 And have cast{H5414}{(H8800)} their gods{H430} into the fire{H784}: for they were no gods{H430}, but the work{H4639} of men's{H120} hands{H3027}, wood{H6086} and stone{H68}: therefore they have destroyed{H6}{(H8762)} them. 20 Now therefore, O LORD{H3068} our God{H430}, save{H3467}{(H8685)} us from his hand{H3027}, that all the kingdoms{H4467} of the earth{H776} may know{H3045}{(H8799)} that thou art the LORD{H3068}, even thou only. 21 Then Isaiah{H3470} the son{H1121} of Amoz{H531} sent{H7971}{(H8799)} unto Hezekiah{H2396}, saying{H559}{(H8800)}, Thus saith{H559}{(H8804)} the LORD{H3068} God{H430} of Israel{H3478}, Whereas thou hast prayed{H6419}{(H8694)} to me against Sennacherib{H5576} king{H4428} of Assyria{H804}: 22 This is the word{H1697} which the LORD{H3068} hath spoken{H1696}{(H8765)} concerning him; The virgin{H1330}, the daughter{H1323} of Zion{H6726}, hath despised{H959}{(H8804)} thee, and laughed thee to scorn;{H3932}{(H8804)} the daughter{H1323} of Jerusalem{H3389} hath shaken{H5128}{(H8689)} her head{H7218} at thee{H310}. 23 Whom hast thou reproached{H2778}{(H8765)} and blasphemed{H1442}{(H8765)}? and against whom hast thou exalted{H7311}{(H8689)} thy voice{H6963}, and lifted up{H5375}{(H8799)} thine eyes{H5869} on high{H4791}? even against the Holy One{H6918} of Israel{H3478}. 24 By{H3027} thy servants{H5650} hast thou reproached{H2778}{(H8765)} the Lord{H136}, and hast said{H559}{(H8799)}, By the multitude{H7230} of my chariots{H7393} am I come up{H5927}{(H8804)} to the height{H4791} of the mountains{H2022}, to the sides{H3411} of Lebanon{H3844}; and I will cut down{H3772}{(H8799)} the tall{H6967} cedars{H730} thereof, and the choice{H4005} fir trees{H1265} thereof: and I will enter{H935}{(H8799)} into the height{H4791} of his border{H7093}, and the forest{H3293} of his Carmel{H3760}. 25 I have digged{H6979}{(H8804)}, and drunk{H8354}{(H8804)} water{H4325}; and with the sole{H3709} of my feet{H6471} have I dried up{H2717}{(H8686)} all the rivers{H2975} of the besieged places{H4693}. 26 Hast thou not heard{H8085}{(H8804)} long ago{H7350}, how I have done{H6213}{(H8804)} it; and of ancient{H6924} times{H3117}, that I have formed{H3335}{(H8804)} it? now have I brought{H935}{(H8689)} it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste{H7582}{(H8687)} defenced{H1219}{(H8803)} cities{H5892} into ruinous{H5327}{(H8737)} heaps{H1530}. 27 Therefore their inhabitants{H3427}{(H8802)} were of small{H7116} power{H3027}, they were dismayed{H2865}{(H8804)} and confounded{H954}{(H8804)}: they were as the grass{H6212} of the field{H7704}, and as the green{H3419} herb{H1877}, as the grass{H2682} on the housetops{H1406}, and as corn blasted{H7709} before{H6440} it be grown up{H7054}. 28 But I know{H3045}{(H8804)} thy abode{H3427}{(H8800)}, and thy going out{H3318}{(H8800)}, and thy coming in{H935}{(H8800)}, and thy rage{H7264}{(H8692)} against me. 29 Because thy rage{H7264}{(H8692)} against me, and thy tumult{H7600}, is come up{H5927}{(H8804)} into mine ears{H241}, therefore will I put{H7760}{(H8804)} my hook{H2397} in thy nose{H639}, and my bridle{H4964} in thy lips{H8193}, and I will turn thee back{H7725}{(H8689)} by the way{H1870} by which thou camest{H935}{(H8804)}. 30 And this shall be a sign{H226} unto thee, Ye shall eat{H398}{(H8800)} this year{H8141} such as groweth{H5599} of itself; and the second{H8145} year{H8141} that which springeth{H7823} of the same: and in the third{H7992} year{H8141} sow{H2232}{(H8798)} ye, and reap{H7114}{(H8798)}, and plant{H5193}{(H8798)} vineyards{H3754}, and eat{H398}{(H8798)} the fruit{H6529} thereof. 31 And the remnant{H7604}{(H8737)} that is escaped{H6413} of the house{H1004} of Judah{H3063} shall again{H3254}{(H8804)} take root{H8328} downward{H4295}, and bear{H6213}{(H8804)} fruit{H6529} upward{H4605}: 32 For out of Jerusalem{H3389} shall go forth{H3318}{(H8799)} a remnant{H7611}, and they that escape{H6413} out of mount{H2022} Zion{H6726}: the zeal{H7068} of the LORD{H3068} of hosts{H6635} shall do{H6213}{(H8799)} this. 33 Therefore thus saith{H559}{(H8804)} the LORD{H3068} concerning the king{H4428} of Assyria{H804}, He shall not come{H935}{(H8799)} into this city{H5892}, nor shoot{H3384}{(H8686)} an arrow{H2671} there, nor come before{H6923}{(H8762)} it with shields{H4043}, nor cast{H8210}{(H8799)} a bank{H5550} against it. 34 By the way{H1870} that he came{H935}{(H8804)}, by the same shall he return{H7725}{(H8799)}, and shall not come{H935}{(H8799)} into this city{H5892}, saith{H5002}{(H8803)} the LORD{H3068}. 35 For I will defend{H1598}{(H8804)} this city{H5892} to save{H3467}{(H8687)} it for mine own sake, and for my servant{H5650} David's{H1732} sake. 36 Then the angel{H4397} of the LORD{H3068} went forth{H3318}{(H8799)}, and smote{H5221}{(H8686)} in the camp{H4264} of the Assyrians{H804} a hundred{H3967} and fourscore{H8084} and five{H2568} thousand{H505}: and when they arose early{H7925}{(H8686)} in the morning{H1242}, behold, they were all dead{H4191}{(H8801)} corpses{H6297}. 37 So Sennacherib{H5576} king{H4428} of Assyria{H804} departed{H5265}{(H8799)}, and went{H3212}{(H8799)} and returned{H7725}{(H8799)}, and dwelt{H3427}{(H8799)} at Nineveh{H5210}. 38 And it came to pass, as he was worshipping{H7812}{(H8693)} in the house{H1004} of Nisroch{H5268} his god{H430}, that Adrammelech{H152} and Sharezer{H8272} his sons{H1121} smote{H5221}{(H8689)} him with the sword{H2719}; and they escaped{H4422}{(H8738)} into the land{H776} of Armenia{H780}: and Esarhaddon{H634} his son{H1121} reigned{H4427}{(H8799)} in his stead.
- Jer 50:11 : 11 Because ye were glad{H8055}{(H8799)}, because ye rejoiced{H5937}{(H8799)}, O ye destroyers{H8154}{(H8802)} of mine heritage{H5159}, because ye are grown fat{H6335}{(H8799)} as the heifer{H5697} at grass{H1877}{(H8676)}{H1758}{(H8801)}, and bellow{H6670}{(H8799)} as bulls{H47};
- Ezek 29:3 : 3 Speak{H1696}{(H8761)}, and say{H559}{(H8804)}, Thus saith{H559}{(H8804)} the Lord{H136} GOD{H3069}; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh{H6547} king{H4428} of Egypt{H4714}, the great{H1419} dragon{H8577} that lieth{H7257}{(H8802)} in the midst{H8432} of his rivers{H2975}, which hath said{H559}{(H8804)}, My river{H2975} is mine own, and I have made{H6213}{(H8804)} it for myself.
- Rom 7:22 : 22 For{G1063} I delight{G4913}{(G5736)} in the law{G3551} of God{G2316} after{G2596} the inward{G2080} man{G444}:
- Jas 4:1 : 1 From whence{G4159} come wars{G4171} and{G2532} fightings{G3163} among{G1722} you{G5213}? come they not{G3756} hence{G1782}, even of{G1537} your{G5216} lusts{G2237} that war{G4754}{(G5734)} in{G1722} your{G5216} members{G3196}?
- Jer 51:32-33 : 32 And that the passages{H4569} are stopped{H8610}{(H8738)}, and the reeds{H98} they have burned{H8313}{(H8804)} with fire{H784}, and the men{H582} of war{H4421} are affrighted{H926}{(H8738)}. 33 For thus saith{H559}{(H8804)} the LORD{H3068} of hosts{H6635}, the God{H430} of Israel{H3478}; The daughter{H1323} of Babylon{H894} is like a threshingfloor{H1637}, it is time{H6256} to thresh{H1869}{(H8687)} her: yet a little while{H4592}, and the time{H6256} of her harvest{H7105} shall come{H935}{(H8804)}.
