The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

The sons of Levi; Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

Verse 2

And the sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

Verse 3

And the children of Amram: Aaron, Moses, and Miriam. And the sons of Aaron: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

Verse 4

Eleazar fathered Phinehas, and Phinehas fathered Abishua,

Eleazar begat Phinehas, Phinehas begat Abishua,

And Abishua fathered Bukki, and Bukki fathered Uzzi,

And Abishua begat Bukki, and Bukki begat Uzzi,

Verse 6

And Uzzi fathered Zerahiah, and Zerahiah fathered Meraioth,

And Uzzi begat Zerahiah, and Zerahiah begat Meraioth,

Verse 7

Meraioth fathered Amariah, and Amariah fathered Ahitub,

Meraioth begat Amariah, and Amariah begat Ahitub,

Verse 8

And Ahitub fathered Zadok, and Zadok fathered Ahimaaz,

And Ahitub begat Zadok, and Zadok begat Ahimaaz,

Verse 9

And Ahimaaz fathered Azariah, and Azariah fathered Johanan,

And Ahimaaz begat Azariah, and Azariah begat Johanan,

Verse 10

And Johanan fathered Azariah, (he is the one who ministered as priest in the temple that Solomon built in Jerusalem:)

Verse 11

And Azariah fathered Amariah, and Amariah fathered Ahitub,

And Ahitub fathered Zadok, and Zadok fathered Shallum,

And Ahitub begat Zadok, and Zadok begat Shallum,

And Shallum fathered Hilkiah, and Hilkiah fathered Azariah,

And Shallum begat Hilkiah, and Hilkiah begat Azariah,

Verse 14

And Azariah fathered Seraiah, and Seraiah fathered Jehozadak,

And Azariah begat Seraiah, and Seraiah begat Jehozadak,

And Jehozadak went into captivity when the LORD carried away Judah and Jerusalem by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.

The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to their fathers.

And their brethren, the sons of Merari, stood on the left hand: Ethan the son of Kishi, the son of Abdi, the son of Malluch,

Their brethren also, the Levites, were appointed for all kinds of service of the tabernacle of the house of God.

Now these are their dwelling places throughout their settlements within their borders, of the sons of Aaron, of the families of the Kohathites: for theirs was the first lot.

And they gave them Hebron in the land of Judah, and its surrounding pasturelands.

And out of the tribe of Benjamin: Geba with its pasturelands, Alemeth with its pasturelands, and Anathoth with its pasturelands. All their cities throughout their families were thirteen cities.

Verse 61

And to the sons of Kohath, those remaining of the family of that tribe, were given cities out of the half tribe of Manasseh, by lot, ten cities.

And unto the sons of Kohath, which were left of the family of that tribe, were cities given out of the half tribe, namely, out of the half tribe of Manasseh, by lot, ten cities.

And to the sons of Gershom, according to their families, out of the tribe of Issachar, out of the tribe of Asher, out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.

Verse 63

To the sons of Merari were given by lot, according to their families, out of the tribe of Reuben, out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.

Verse 64

And the children of Israel gave to the Levites these cities with their pasturelands.

And the remaining families of the sons of Kohath had cities of their territory out of the tribe of Ephraim.

And they gave to them, of the cities of refuge, Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim with its pasturelands; they also gave Gezer with its pasturelands,

And Jokmeam with its pasturelands, and Bethhoron with its pasturelands,

And Aijalon with its pasturelands, and Gathrimmon with its pasturelands:

And out of the half tribe of Manasseh: Aner with its pasturelands, and Bileam with its pasturelands, for the family of the remnant of the sons of Kohath.

Verse 71

To the sons of Gershom were given out of the family of the half tribe of Manasseh, Golan in Bashan with its pasturelands, and Ashtaroth with its pasturelands:

And out of the tribe of Issachar: Kedesh with its pasturelands, Daberath with its pasturelands,

And Ramoth with its pasturelands, and Anem with its pasturelands:

And out of the tribe of Asher: Mashal with its pasturelands, and Abdon with its pasturelands,

And Hukok with its pasturelands, and Rehob with its pasturelands:

And out of the tribe of Naphtali: Kedesh in Galilee with its pasturelands, Hammon with its pasturelands, and Kirjathaim with its pasturelands.

Verse 77

To the rest of the children of Merari were given out of the tribe of Zebulun, Rimmon with its pasturelands, Tabor with its pasturelands:

Verse 78

And on the other side of the Jordan by Jericho, on the east side of the Jordan, were given to them out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer in the wilderness with its pasturelands, and Jahzah with its pasturelands,

Heshbon with its pasturelands, and Jazer with its pasturelands.
