Verse 12

Be careful not to make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it become a snare among you.

• Judg 8:27 : 27 Gideon used all this to make an ephod, which he put in his hometown of Ophrah. All the Israelites prostituted themselves to it by worshiping it there. It became a snare to Gideon and his family.
• Ps 106:36 : 36 They worshiped their idols, which became a snare to them.
• Deut 7:16 : 16 Exhortation to Destroy Canaanite Paganism You must destroy all the people whom the LORD your God is about to deliver over to you; you must not pity them or worship their gods, for that will be a snare to you.
