And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath driven thee,

og du vender tilbake til Herren din Gud og adlyder hans røst etter alt det jeg befaler deg i dag, du og dine barn, av hele ditt hjerte og av hele din sjel,

And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul;

da vil Herren din Gud vende din lagnad og ha medfølelse med deg, og han vil igjen samle deg fra alle folkene som Herren din Gud har spredt deg blant.

That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.

Om noen av dere er drevet ut helt til verdens ende, skal Herren din Gud samle deg derfra, og hente deg derfra.

If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the LORD thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee:

Og Herren din Gud vil føre deg inn i det landet som dine fedre eide, og du skal eie det; og han vil gjøre godt mot deg og gjøre deg mer tallrik enn dine fedre.

And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.

Og Herren din Gud vil omskjære ditt hjerte og hjertet til din avkom, slik at du elsker Herren din Gud av hele ditt hjerte og av hele din sjel, for at du kan leve.

And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

Og Herren din Gud vil legge alle disse forbannelsene på dine fiender, på dem som hater deg og forfølger deg.

And the LORD thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee.

Og du skal igjen vende tilbake og adlyde Herrens røst, og gjøre alle hans bud som jeg befaler deg i dag.

And thou shalt return and obey the voice of the LORD, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day.

Og Herren din Gud vil gi deg overflod i alt ditt henders verk, i fruktbarheten av ditt legeme, buskapen din og landet ditt for det gode. For Herren vil igjen glede seg over deg, på samme måte som han gledet seg over dine fedre.

And the LORD thy God will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, for good: for the LORD will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers:

Hvis du lytter til Herrens din Guds røst, for å holde hans bud og lover som er skrevet i denne lovboken, og hvis du vender om til Herren din Gud av hele ditt hjerte og av hele din sjel.

If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.

For dette budet som jeg gir deg i dag, er ikke skjult for deg, ei heller langt borte.

For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidn from thee, neither is it far off.

Det er ikke i himmelen, slik at du skulle si: Hvem vil gå opp til himmelen for oss og hente det til oss, så vi kan høre det og gjøre det?

It is not in heaven, that thou shoulst say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?

Heller ikke er det bortenfor havet, slik at du skulle si: Hvem vil krysse over havet for oss og hente det til oss, så vi kan høre det og gjøre det?

Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shoulst say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?

Men ordet er meget nært deg, i din munn og i ditt hjerte, så du kan gjøre det.

But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.

Se, jeg har lagt fram for deg i dag liv og godt, død og ondt;

See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and ath and evil;

i det jeg befaler deg i dag å elske Herren din Gud, å vandre på hans veier og å holde hans bud, lover og forskrifter, for at du kan leve og bli mange: og Herren din Gud vil velsigne deg i landet som du går for å ta i eie.

In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.

Men hvis ditt hjerte vender seg bort, slik at du ikke vil høre, men blir dratt bort for å tilbe andre guder og tjene dem,

But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;

da kunngjør jeg for dere i dag at dere sannelig skal gå til grunne, og at dere ikke skal forlenge deres dager i det landet som dere skal krysse Jordan for å ta i eie.

I nounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and ath, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

så du kan elske Herren din Gud, høre hans røst og holde fast ved ham: for han er ditt liv og dine dagers lengde, så du kan bo i det landet som Herren sverget til dine fedre, Abraham, Isak og Jakob, å gi dem.

That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
