Verse 39

For this cause they couldn't believe, for Isaiah said again,

John 5:44 : 44 How can you believe, who receive glory from one another, and you don't seek the glory that comes from the only God?
John 6:44 : 44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up in the last day.
John 10:38 : 38 But if I do them, though you don't believe me, believe the works; that you may know and believe that the Father is in me, and I in the Father."
2 Pet 2:14 : 14 having eyes full of adultery, and who can't cease from sin; enticing unsettled souls; having a heart trained in greed; children of cursing;
Isa 6:9-9 : 9 He said, "Go, and tell this people, 'You hear indeed, but don't understand; and you see indeed, but don't perceive.' 10 Make the heart of this people fat. Make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and turn again, and be healed."
Isa 44:18-20 : 18 They don't know, neither do they consider: for he has shut their eyes, that they can't see; and their hearts, that they can't understand. 19 No one thinks, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, "I have burned part of it in the fire. Yes, I have also baked bread on its coals. I have roasted meat and eaten it. Shall I make the rest of it into an abomination? Shall I bow down to a tree trunk?" 20 He feeds on ashes. A deceived heart has turned him aside; and he can't deliver his soul, nor say, "Isn't there a lie in my right hand?"
