Verse 38

He came to the synagogue ruler's house, and he saw an uproar, weeping, and great wailing.

Jer 9:17-20 : 17 Thus says Yahweh of Armies, Consider, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for the skillful women, that they may come: 18 and let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters. 19 For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we ruined! we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because they have cast down our dwellings. 20 Yet hear the word of Yahweh, you women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth; and teach your daughters wailing, and everyone her neighbor lamentation.
Matt 9:23-24 : 23 When Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the flute players, and the crowd in noisy disorder, 24 he said to them, "Make room, because the girl isn't dead, but sleeping." They were ridiculing him.
Matt 11:17 : 17 and say, 'We played the flute for you, and you didn't dance. We mourned for you, and you didn't lament.'
Mark 5:22 : 22 Behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, came; and seeing him, he fell at his feet,
Luke 8:52-53 : 52 All were weeping and mourning her, but he said, "Don't weep. She isn't dead, but sleeping." 53 They were ridiculing him, knowing that she was dead.
Acts 9:39 : 39 Peter got up and went with them. When he had come, they brought him into the upper room. All the widows stood by him weeping, and showing the coats and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them.
