Ps 78:17-42 : 17 And they add still to sin against Him, To provoke the Most High in the dry place. 18 And they try God in their heart, To ask food for their lust. 19 And they speak against God -- they said: `Is God able to array a table in a wilderness?' 20 Lo, He hath smitten a rock, And waters flow, yea, streams overflow. `Also -- bread `is' He able to give? Amos 5:25-26 : 25 Sacrifices and offering did ye bring nigh to Me, In a wilderness forty years, O house of Israel? 26 And ye bare Succoth your king, and Chiun your images, The star of your god, that ye made for yourselves.

1 Cor 10:1-9 : 1 And I do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, 2 and all to Moses were baptized in the cloud, and in the sea; 3 and all the same spiritual food did eat, 4 and all the same spiritual drink did drink, for they were drinking of a spiritual rock following them, and the rock was the Christ; 5 but in the most of them God was not well pleased, for they were strewn in the wilderness, 6 and those things became types of us, for our not passionately desiring evil things, as also these did desire. 7 Neither become ye idolaters, as certain of them, as it hath been written, `The people sat down to eat and to drink, and stood up to play;' 8 neither may we commit whoredom, as certain of them did commit whoredom, and there fell in one day twenty-three thousand; 9 neither may we tempt the Christ, as also certain of them did tempt, and by the serpents did perish; 10 neither murmur ye, as also some of them did murmur, and did perish by the destroyer.
Heb 3:7-9 : 7 Wherefore, (as the Holy Spirit saith, `To-day, if His voice ye may hear -- 8 ye may not harden your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of the temptation in the wilderness, 9 in which tempt Me did your fathers, they did prove Me, and saw My works forty years; 10 wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, Always do they go astray in heart, and these have not known My ways;
Heb 3:16-19 : 16 for certain having heard did provoke, but not all who did come out of Egypt through Moses; 17 but with whom was He grieved forty years? was it not with those who did sin, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness? 18 and to whom did He swear that they shall not enter into His rest, except to those who did not believe? -- 19 and we see that they were not able to enter in because of unbelief.
