Therefore, you will be among the first to go into exile, and your feasting and lounging will come to an end.

For the LORD has given the command: The great house will be shattered into pieces, and the small house into bits.

Løper hester på klipper? Eller pløyer man der med okser? Likevel har dere gjort rett til gift, og rettferds frukt til malurt.

Do horses run on rocky cliffs? Does one plow there with oxen? Yet you have turned justice into poison and the fruit of righteousness into bitterness.

Dere som gleder dere i ingenting og sier: Har vi ikke ved vår styrke brakt oss horn?

You who rejoice in nothingness and say, 'By our own strength we have taken horns for ourselves!'

For se, jeg reiser opp en nasjon mot dere, Israels hus, sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud. De skal undertrykke dere fra inngangen til Hamat til dalen av Araba.

For behold, I am raising up against you, house of Israel—this is the declaration of the LORD, the God of Hosts—a nation that will oppress you from the entrance of Hamath to the Brook of the Arabah.
