Samuel said to Jesse, "Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives here." 12 So Jesse sent for him and brought him in. He was ruddy, with beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance. Then the LORD said, "Rise and anoint him; this is the one." 13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and the Spirit of the LORD came powerfully upon David from that day forward. Then Samuel left and went to Ramah.
