So Jesus came to Bethany six days before the Passover, where Lazarus was—the one who had died and whom He had raised from the dead.

Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

There they prepared a dinner for Him. Martha served, and Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with Him.

There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

Then Mary took a pound of pure, expensive nard perfume, anointed Jesus' feet, and wiped His feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples (the one who was about to betray Him), said,

Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him,

"Why wasn’t this perfume sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?"

Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

He said this not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief; he kept the money box and would steal from what was put into it.

This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

Jesus replied, "Leave her alone. She has kept this for the day of My burial preparation."

Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.

"For you will always have the poor with you, but you will not always have Me."

For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

A large crowd of Jews learned that Jesus was there. They came, not just because of Jesus, but also to see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.

Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

So the chief priests planned to kill Lazarus as well,

But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;

because many of the Jews were leaving them and believing in Jesus because of him.

Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

The next day, a large crowd that had come to the festival heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem.

On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

So they took palm branches and went out to meet Him, shouting, "Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, the King of Israel!"

Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written:

And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,

Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion; see, your King is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.

Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.

At first, His disciples did not understand these things. But when Jesus was glorified, they remembered that these things had been written about Him and that they had done these things to Him.

These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.

The crowd that had been with Him when He called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to testify about it.

The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.

This is why the crowd went to meet Him—because they heard that He had performed this sign.

For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.

Then the Pharisees said to one another, "You see, you are achieving nothing. Look, the whole world has gone after Him!"

The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.

Now some Greeks were among those who went up to worship at the festival.

And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:

They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and requested of him, "Sir, we want to see Jesus."

The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.

Philip went and told Andrew; then Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus.

Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.

Jesus replied to them, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.

Truly, truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains by itself alone. But if it dies, it produces much fruit.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

The one who loves his life will lose it, and the one who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me. And where I am, there My servant also will be. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.

If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

Now My soul is troubled. And what shall I say? 'Father, save Me from this hour'? But this is why I came to this hour.

Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

Father, glorify Your name." Then a voice came from heaven: "I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again."

Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

The crowd that was standing there and heard it said it was thunder. Others said, "An angel has spoken to Him."

The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.

Jesus replied, "This voice did not come for My sake, but for yours."

Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.

Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be thrown out.

Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to Myself."

And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

He said this to indicate the kind of death He was going to die.

This he said, signifying what death he should die.

The crowd answered Him, "We have heard from the Law that the Christ remains forever. So how can You say, 'The Son of Man must be lifted up'? Who is this Son of Man?"

The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

Then Jesus said to them, "The light will be with you only a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, so that darkness does not overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.

Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

While you have the light, believe in the light, so that you may become children of light." Jesus said this, then went away and was hidden from them.

While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

Though He had performed so many signs in their presence, they did not believe in Him.

But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet, who said: "Lord, who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?"

That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

This is why they were unable to believe, because Isaiah also said:

Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

"He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so that they would not see with their eyes or understand with their hearts, and turn, and I would heal them."

He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

Isaiah said these things because he saw His glory and spoke about Him.

These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

Nevertheless, many even among the rulers believed in Him. But because of the Pharisees, they did not confess Him, so that they would not be expelled from the synagogue.

Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

For they loved the approval of people more than the approval of God.

For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

Then Jesus cried out, "Whoever believes in Me does not believe in Me only, but in the One who sent Me.

Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

"And whoever sees Me sees the One who sent Me.

And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

I have come into the world as light, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.

I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

"If anyone hears My words and does not keep them, I do not judge them. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.

And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

The one who rejects Me and does not accept My words has a judge: The word I have spoken will judge them on the last day.

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

For I have not spoken on My own, but the Father who sent Me has commanded Me what to say and how to speak.

For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

I know that His command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told Me to say.

And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
