Balaam looked up and saw Israel camped according to their tribes, and the Spirit of God came upon him.

The total number in the camps, by divisions, is 603,550. 33 The Levites were not counted among the Israelites, as the LORD had commanded Moses. 34 So the Israelites did everything the LORD commanded Moses. They camped under their banners and set out, each in their clan and family.
