Verse 1
A psalm of David, composed when he fled from his son Absalom.
LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
Verse 2
LORD, how many are my enemies! Many are rising up against me.
Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.
Verse 3
Many say of me, "There is no salvation for him in God." Selah.
But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
Verse 4
But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.
I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.
Verse 5
I call out to the LORD with my voice, and He answers me from His holy mountain. Selah.
I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.
Verse 6
I lay down and slept; I awoke again, because the LORD sustains me.
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
Verse 7
I will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up against me on every side.
Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
Verse 8
Arise, LORD! Save me, my God! For you strike all my enemies on the cheek, and you break the teeth of the wicked.
Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.
Verse 9
Salvation belongs to the LORD; may Your blessing be upon Your people. Selah.
