Verse 1
To the chief musician: A psalm of David.
In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.
Verse 2
In you, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame. In your righteousness, deliver me!
Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me.
Verse 3
Turn your ear to me; come quickly to rescue me. Be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me.
For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.
Verse 4
For you are my rock and my fortress. For the sake of your name, guide me and lead me.
Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength.
Verse 5
Free me from the net that they have secretly laid for me, for you are my stronghold.
Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.
Verse 6
Into your hand I entrust my spirit; you have redeemed me, O LORD, faithful God.
I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD.
Verse 7
I hate those who pay regard to worthless idols, but I trust in the LORD.
I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities;
Verse 8
I will rejoice and be glad in your steadfast love, for you have seen my affliction and have known the distress of my soul.
And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room.
Verse 9
You have not handed me over to the enemy, but you have set my feet in a spacious place.
Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly.
Verse 10
Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am in distress. My eyes grow weak with sorrow, as do my soul and my body.
For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed.
Verse 11
My life is consumed with grief and my years with sighing; my strength fails because of my iniquity, and my bones are wasting away.
I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.
Verse 12
I am a disgrace among all my enemies, and even more to my neighbors—a dread to my acquaintances; those who see me on the street flee from me.
I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.
Verse 13
I am forgotten like someone dead and gone; I have become like a broken vessel.
For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.
Verse 14
For I hear the slander of many; terror surrounds me as they conspire together against me and plot to take my life.
But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God.
Verse 15
But I trust in you, O LORD; I say, 'You are my God.'
My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.
Verse 16
My times are in your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies and from those who pursue me.
Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies' sake.
Verse 17
Let your face shine on your servant; save me in your unfailing love.
Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.
Verse 18
O LORD, let me not be put to shame, for I have called out to you. Let the wicked be put to shame; let them be silent in the grave.
Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.
Verse 19
Let lying lips be silenced, those that speak arrogantly against the righteous with pride and contempt.
Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!
Verse 20
How abundant is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you and worked out for those who take refuge in you, in the presence of humanity.
Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.
Verse 21
You hide them in the shelter of your presence from the schemes of men; you conceal them in a shelter from quarrelsome tongues.
Blessed be the LORD: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.
Verse 22
Blessed be the LORD, for he has shown his wondrous love to me in a fortified city.
For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.
Verse 23
In my alarm, I said, "I am cut off from your sight." Yet you heard the voice of my pleas when I cried out to you for help.
O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.
Verse 24
Love the LORD, all his faithful ones! The LORD preserves those who are true to him, but repays the proud in full.
Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.
Verse 25
Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD.
