1 A psalm, a song for the dedication of the house, of David.

I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.

2 I will exalt You, O LORD, for You drew me up and did not let my enemies rejoice over me.

O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.

3 O LORD, my God, I cried to You for help, and You healed me.

O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

4 O LORD, You brought my soul up from Sheol; You preserved me alive so that I would not go down to the pit.

Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

5 Sing praises to the LORD, you His faithful ones, and give thanks to His holy name.

For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

6 For His anger lasts only a moment, but His favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning.

And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.

7 As for me, I said in my prosperity, 'I will never be shaken.'

LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.

8 O LORD, by Your favor, You made my mountain stand strong; but when You hid Your face, I was terrified.

I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication.

9 To You, O LORD, I call; to the Lord I plead for mercy:

What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?

10 What profit is there in my blood, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your faithfulness?

Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper.

11 Hear me, O LORD, and be merciful to me; O LORD, be my helper.

Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;

12 You have turned my mourning into dancing; You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,

To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

13 so that my glory may sing Your praise and not be silent. O LORD, my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
