Når du kommer inn i landet som Herren din Gud gir deg i arv, og tar det i besittelse og bor der,

It shall be, when you are come in to the land which Yahweh your God gives you for an inheritance, and possess it, and dwell therein,

da skal du ta av den første frukten av jorden som du høster inn fra landet som Herren din Gud gir deg. Du skal legge det i en kurv og gå til det stedet som Herren din Gud velger ut for å la sitt navn bo der.

that you shall take of the first of all the fruit of the ground, which you shall bring in from your land that Yahweh your God gives you; and you shall put it in a basket, and shall go to the place which Yahweh your God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there.

Du skal gå til presten som er der på den tiden og si til ham: Jeg bekjenner i dag for Herren min Gud at jeg har kommet til det landet som Herren sverget å gi våre fedre.

You shall come to the priest who shall be in those days, and tell him, I profess this day to Yahweh your God, that I am come to the land which Yahweh swore to our fathers to give us.

Presten skal ta kurven fra din hånd og sette den ned foran Herrens, din Guds, alter.

The priest shall take the basket out of your hand, and set it down before the altar of Yahweh your God.

Så skal du si foran Herren din Gud: En omstreifer av syrisk herkomst var min far, og han dro ned til Egypt og bodde der som utlending, få i antall, men der ble han til et stort, mektig og tallrikt folk.

You shall answer and say before Yahweh your God, A Syrian ready to perish was my father; and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there, few in number; and he became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous.

Egypterne behandlet oss dårlig, undertrykte oss og la tungt arbeid på oss.

The Egyptians dealt ill with us, and afflicted us, and laid on us hard bondage:

Da ropte vi til Herren, våre fedres Gud, og Herren hørte vår røst. Han så vår nød, vårt slit og vår undertrykkelse.

and we cried to Yahweh, the God of our fathers, and Yahweh heard our voice, and saw our affliction, and our toil, and our oppression;

Og Herren førte oss ut av Egypt med sterk hånd og utstrakt arm, med stor frykt, tegn og under.

and Yahweh brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terror, and with signs, and with wonders;

Han brakte oss til dette stedet og ga oss dette landet, et land som flyter av melk og honning.

and he has brought us into this place, and has given us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey.

Nå, se, jeg har brakt den første av frukten av jorden som du, Herren, har gitt meg. Du skal sette det ned foran Herren din Gud og tilbe Herren din Gud.

Now, behold, I have brought the first of the fruit of the ground, which you, Yahweh, have given me. You shall set it down before Yahweh your God, and worship before Yahweh your God:

Og du skal glede deg over alt det gode som Herren din Gud har gitt deg og ditt hus, du, levitten og den fremmede som er blant dere.

and you shall rejoice in all the good which Yahweh your God has given to you, and to your house, you, and the Levite, and the foreigner who is in the midst of you.

Når du har fullført uttakingen av hele din avgrøde i det tredje året, tiendeåret, skal du gi det til levitten, den fremmede, den farløse og enken, så de kan spise innenfor byene dine og bli mette.

When you have made an end of tithing all the tithe of your increase in the third year, which is the year of tithing, then you shall give it to the Levite, to the foreigner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, that they may eat within your gates, and be filled.

Du skal si foran Herren din Gud: Jeg har fjernet de hellige ting fra huset og også gitt det til levitten, den fremmede, den farløse og enken, slik du har befalt meg. Jeg har ikke overtrådt noen av dine bud og heller ikke glemt dem.

You shall say before Yahweh your God, I have put away the holy things out of my house, and also have given them to the Levite, and to the foreigner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all your commandment which you have commanded me: I have not transgressed any of your commandments, neither have I forgotten them:

Jeg har ikke spist av det i min sorg, heller ikke har jeg fjernet noe av det som var urent, eller gitt noe av det for de døde. Jeg har lyttet til Herrens, min Guds, røst. Jeg har gjort alt som du har befalt meg.

I have not eaten of it in my mourning, neither have I put away of it, being unclean, nor given of it for the dead: I have listened to the voice of Yahweh my God; I have done according to all that you have commanded me.

Se ned fra din hellige bolig, fra himmelen, og velsign ditt folk Israel og jorden som du har gitt oss, som du sverget til våre fedre, et land som flyter av melk og honning.

Look down from your holy habitation, from heaven, and bless your people Israel, and the ground which you have given us, as you swore to our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.

Denne dagen befaler Herren din Gud deg å holde disse forskrifter og lover. Du skal derfor holde dem med hele ditt hjerte og med hele din sjel.

This day Yahweh your God commands you to do these statutes and ordinances: you shall therefore keep and do them with all your heart, and with all your soul.

Du har i dag bekjent Herren til å være din Gud, og at du vil vandre på hans veier, holde hans forskrifter, bud og lover, og lytte til hans røst.

You have declared Yahweh this day to be your God, and that you would walk in his ways, and keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his ordinances, and listen to his voice:

Og Herren har i dag bekjent deg til å være hans folk, hans eiendom, slik han har lovet deg, og at du skal holde alle hans bud.

and Yahweh has declared you this day to be a people for his own possession, as he has promised you, and that you should keep all his commandments;

Og for å sette deg høyt over alle de folk han har skapt, i lovprisning, ry og ære, for at du skal være et hellig folk for Herren din Gud, som han har sagt.

and to make you high above all nations that he has made, in praise, and in name, and in honor; and that you may be a holy people to Yahweh your God, as he has spoken.
