Herrens hånd var over meg, og han førte meg ut ved Herrens Ånd og satte meg ned midt i dalen; den var full av bein.

The hand of Yahweh was on me, and he brought me out in the Spirit of Yahweh, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones.

Han førte meg rundt om dem: og se, det var svært mange i den åpne dalen; og se, de var svært tørre.

He caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, behold, they were very dry.

Han sa til meg: Menneskesønn, kan disse beina bli levende? Jeg svarte: Herre Gud, du vet.

He said to me, Son of man, can these bones live? I answered, Lord Yahweh, you know.

Igjen sa han til meg: Tal profetord over disse beinene og si til dem: Dere tørre bein, hør Herrens ord.

Again he said to me, Prophesy over these bones, and tell them, you dry bones, hear the word of Yahweh.

Så sier Herren Gud til disse beina: Se, jeg gir ånde i dere, og dere skal bli levende.

Thus says the Lord Yahweh to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live.

Jeg vil legge sener på dere, føre frem kjøtt på dere, dekke dere med hud, og gi ånde i dere, så dere blir levende; og dere skal kjenne at jeg er Herren.

I will lay sinews on you, and will bring up flesh on you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live; and you shall know that I am Yahweh.

Så profeterte jeg som jeg ble befalt: og mens jeg profeterte, var det en lyd, se, en uro; og beina kom sammen, bein til bein.

So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and, behold, an earthquake; and the bones came together, bone to its bone.

Jeg så, og se, det var sener på dem, og kjøtt kom opp, og hud dekte dem ovenfor; men det var ingen ånde i dem.

I saw, and, behold, there were sinews on them, and flesh came up, and skin covered them above; but there was no breath in them.

Da sa han til meg: Profeter til ånden, profeter, menneskesønn, og si til ånden: Så sier Herren Gud: Kom fra de fire vindretninger, ånde, og blås på disse drepte, så de kan bli levende.

Then said he to me, Prophesy to the wind, prophesy, son of man, and tell the wind, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Come from the four winds, breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.

Så profeterte jeg slik som han befalte meg, og ånden kom i dem, og de ble levende og sto opp på føttene, en overmåte stor hær.

So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up on their feet, an exceeding great army.

Da sa han til meg: Menneskesønn, disse bein er hele Israels hus: se, de sier: Våre bein er uttørrede, vårt håp er gått til grunne; vi er fullstendig avskåret.

Then he said to me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are clean cut off.

Derfor, profeter og si til dem: Så sier Herren Gud: Se, jeg vil åpne deres graver og føre dere opp av deres graver, mitt folk; og jeg vil føre dere til Israels land.

Therefore prophesy, and tell them, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, my people; and I will bring you into the land of Israel.

Dere skal kjenne at jeg er Herren, når jeg har åpnet deres graver og ført dere opp av deres graver, mitt folk.

You shall know that I am Yahweh, when I have opened your graves, and caused you to come up out of your graves, my people.

Jeg vil gi min Ånd i dere, og dere skal bli levende, og jeg vil sette dere i deres eget land: og dere skal kjenne at jeg, Herren, har talt og gjort det, sier Herren.

I will put my Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land: and you shall know that I, Yahweh, have spoken it and performed it, says Yahweh.

Herrens ord kom igjen til meg og sa:

The word of Yahweh came again to me, saying,

Du, menneskesønn, ta en stav og skriv på den: For Juda, og for Israels barn, hans venner: ta så en annen stav og skriv på den: For Josef, staven til Efraim, og for hele Israels hus, hans venner:

You, son of man, take one stick, and write on it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write on it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and [for] all the house of Israel his companions:

og før dem sammen, den ene til den andre, til en stav, så de blir en i din hånd.

and join them for you one to another into one stick, that they may become one in your hand.

Når ditt folks barn taler til deg og sier: Vil du ikke fortelle oss hva du mener med dette?

When the children of your people shall speak to you, saying, Will you not show us what you mean by these?

si til dem: Så sier Herren Gud: Se, jeg vil ta Josefs stav, som er i Efraims hånd, og stammene i Israels hus, hans venner; og jeg vil sette dem med staven til Juda og gjøre dem til en stav, og de skal bli en i min hånd.

tell them, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his companions; and I will put them with it, [even] with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in my hand.

Stavene du har skrevet på skal være i din hånd for deres øyne.

The sticks whereon you write shall be in your hand before their eyes.

Si til dem: Så sier Herren Gud: Se, jeg vil ta Israels barn fra folkene, hvor de har dratt, og samle dem fra alle kanter, og føre dem til deres eget land:

Say to them, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, where they are gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:

og jeg vil gjøre dem til et folk i landet, på Israels fjell; og en konge skal være konge over dem alle; og de skal ikke mer være to folk, og de skal ikke mer være delt i to kongeriker;

and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all; and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all;

de skal heller ikke mer gjøre seg urene med sine avguder, eller med sine motbydelige ting, eller med noen av sine overtredelser; men jeg vil frelse dem fra alle deres bosteder, hvor de har syndet, og rense dem: så skal de være mitt folk, og jeg vil være deres Gud.

neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; but I will save them out of all their dwelling-places, in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.

Min tjener David skal være konge over dem; og de skal alle ha en hyrde: de skal vandre etter mine lover og holde mine forskrifter og gjøre dem.

My servant David shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my ordinances, and observe my statutes, and do them.

De skal bo i det landet jeg gav til min tjener Jakob, der deres fedre bodde; og de skal bo der, de og deres barn og deres barnebarn, for alltid; og David, min tjener, skal være deres fyrste for alltid.

They shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob my servant, in which your fathers lived; and they shall dwell therein, they, and their children, and their children's children, forever: and David my servant shall be their prince for ever.

Jeg vil gjøre en fredspakt med dem; det skal være en evig pakt med dem; og jeg vil sette dem, og formere dem, og sette min helligdom midt iblant dem for alltid.

Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them forevermore.

Min bolig skal også være hos dem; og jeg vil være deres Gud, og de skal være mitt folk.

My tent also shall be with them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Folkene skal erkjenne at jeg er Herren som helliggjør Israel, når min helligdom skal være midt iblant dem for alltid.

The nations shall know that I am Yahweh who sanctifies Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them forevermore.
