Herren talte til Moses og sa,

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

«Snakk til Aron og si til ham: 'Når du tenner lampene, skal de syv lampene gi lys foran lysestaken.'»

"Speak to Aaron, and tell him, 'When you light the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light in front of the lampstand.'"

Aron gjorde slik; han tente lampene så de lyste opp området foran lysestaken, som Herren hadde befalt Moses.

Aaron did so. He lit its lamps to light the area in front of the lampstand, as Yahweh commanded Moses.

Lysestaken var laget av hamret gull. Fra foten til blomstrene var det hamret arbeid: etter mønsteret som Herren hadde vist Moses, slik laget han lysestaken.

This was the workmanship of the lampstand, beaten work of gold. From its base to its flowers, it was beaten work: according to the pattern which Yahweh had shown Moses, so he made the lampstand.

Herren talte til Moses og sa,

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

«Ta levittene blant Israels barn og rens dem.

"Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them.

Slik skal du gjøre for å rense dem: sprut renselsesvannet over dem, la dem barbere hele kroppen med barberhøvel, vaske klærne sine og rense seg.

Thus shall you do to them, to cleanse them: sprinkle the water of cleansing on them, let them shave their whole bodies with a razor, and let them wash their clothes, and cleanse themselves.

Deretter skal de ta en ung okse, og dens matoffer, fint mel blandet med olje; og du skal ta en annen ung okse som syndoffer.

Then let them take a young bull, and its meal offering, fine flour mixed with oil; and another young bull you shall take for a sin offering.

Du skal føre levittene fremfor møte teltet, og du skal samle hele menigheten av Israels barn.

You shall present the Levites before the Tent of Meeting. You shall assemble the whole congregation of the children of Israel.

Du skal føre levittene fremfor Herren, og Israels barn skal legge hendene på levittene,

You shall present the Levites before Yahweh. The children of Israel shall lay their hands on the Levites,

og Aron skal gi levittene som et svingeoffer for Herren fra Israels barn, slik at de kan utføre Herrens tjeneste.

and Aaron shall offer the Levites before Yahweh for a wave offering, on the behalf of the children of Israel, that it may be theirs to do the service of Yahweh.

Levittene skal legge hendene sine på hodene til oksene, og du skal ofre den ene som et syndoffer og den andre som et brennoffer til Herren for å gjøre soning for levittene.

The Levites shall lay their hands on the heads of the bulls, and you shall offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering to Yahweh, to make atonement for the Levites.

Du skal stille levittene fremfor Aron og hans sønner, og gi dem som et svingeoffer til Herren.

You shall set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them as a wave offering to Yahweh.

Slik skal du skille levittene fra Israels barn, og levittene skal være mine.

Thus you shall separate the Levites from among the children of Israel, and the Levites shall be mine.

«Deretter skal levittene gå inn for å utføre tjenesten i møte teltet: og du skal rense dem og gi dem som et svingeoffer.

"After that, the Levites shall go in to do the service of the Tent of Meeting: and you shall cleanse them, and offer them as a wave offering.

For de er helt gitt til meg blant Israels barn; i stedet for alle som åpner morslivet, selv de førstefødte av alle Israels barn, har jeg tatt dem til meg.

For they are wholly given to me from among the children of Israel; instead of all who open the womb, even the firstborn of all the children of Israel, I have taken them to me.

For alle førstefødte blant Israels barn er mine, både mennesker og dyr. På den dagen da jeg slo alle førstefødte i landet Egypt, helliget jeg dem for meg selv.

For all the firstborn among the children of Israel are mine, both man and animal. On the day that I struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I sanctified them for myself.

Jeg har tatt levittene i stedet for alle førstefødte blant Israels barn.

I have taken the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel.

Jeg har gitt levittene som en gave til Aron og hans sønner fra blant Israels barn, for å utføre tjenesten for Israels barn i møte teltet og gjøre soning for Israels barn, så det ikke skal komme noen plage blant Israels barn når Israels barn nærmer seg helligdommen.»

I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the Tent of Meeting, and to make atonement for the children of Israel; that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come near to the sanctuary."

Slik gjorde Moses, Aron og hele menigheten av Israels barn til levittene. Etter alt Herren hadde befalt Moses om levittene, slik gjorde Israels barn til dem.

Thus did Moses, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of Israel, to the Levites. According to all that Yahweh commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so the children of Israel did to them.

Levittene renset seg fra synd og vasket klærne sine; og Aron ga dem som et svingeoffer for Herren; og Aron gjorde soning for dem for å rense dem.

The Levites purified themselves from sin, and they washed their clothes; and Aaron offered them for a wave offering before Yahweh; and Aaron made atonement for them to cleanse them.

Etter dette gikk levittene inn for å utføre sin tjeneste i møte teltet foran Aron og hans sønner, slik Herren hadde befalt Moses om levittene, slik gjorde de til dem.

After that, the Levites went in to do their service in the Tent of Meeting before Aaron, and before his sons: as Yahweh had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they did to them.

Herren talte til Moses og sa,

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

«Dette gjelder levittene: fra tjuefem år og oppover skal de gå inn for å utføre tjenesten i møte teltet,

"This is that which belongs to the Levites: from twenty-five years old and upward they shall go in to wait on the service in the work of the Tent of Meeting;

og fra fylte femti år skal de opphøre å utføre arbeidet og ikke tjene mer,

and from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting on the work, and shall serve no more,

men de skal bistå sine brødre i møte teltet, for å overse tjenesten, men de skal ikke utføre arbeid. Slik skal du gjøre med levittene angående deres plikter.»

but shall minister with their brothers in the Tent of Meeting, to keep the charge, and shall do no service. Thus shall you do to the Levites concerning their duties."
