Then I returned and saw all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and, behold, the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter.

  • 17And I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also was a striving after wind.

  • 21They have heard that I sigh; there is none to comfort me; all mine enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that thou hast done it: Thou wilt bring the day that thou hast proclaimed, and they shall be like unto me.

  • 4Therefore said I, Look away from me, I will weep bitterly; labor not to comfort me for the destruction of the daughter of my people.

  • 18There the prisoners are at ease together; They hear not the voice of the taskmaster.

  • 25For who can eat, or who can have enjoyment, more than I?

  • 4Therefore the law is slacked, and justice doth never go forth; for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore justice goeth forth perverted.

  • 12I know that there is nothing better for them, than to rejoice, and to do good so long as they live.

  • 15Then said I in my heart, As it happeneth to the fool, so will it happen even to me; and why was I then more wise? Then said I in my heart, that this also is vanity.
