Cut off thy hair, [O Jerusalem], and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on the bare heights; for Jehovah hath rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.

  • 9Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of wresting [of judgment] : for they say, Jehovah hath forsaken the land, and Jehovah seeth not.

  • 14Wherefore hear the word of Jehovah, ye scoffers, that rule this people that is in Jerusalem:

  • 31and they shall make themselves bald for thee, and gird them with sackcloth, and they shall weep for thee in bitterness of soul with bitter mourning.

  • 8Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.

  • 37And the peaceable folds are brought to silence because of the fierce anger of Jehovah.

  • 10Thus saith Jehovah unto this people, Even so have they loved to wander; they have not refrained their feet: therefore Jehovah doth not accept them; now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins.
