21[ Doubtless], thou knowest, for thou wast then born, And the number of thy days is great!
14So shalt thou know wisdom to be unto thy soul; If thou hast found it, then shall there be a reward, And thy hope shall not be cut off.
8For inquire, I pray thee, of the former age, And apply thyself to that which their fathers have searched out:
9(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, Because our days upon earth are a shadow);
17I will show thee, hear thou me; And that which I have seen I will declare:
10Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not inquire wisely concerning this.
5Then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah, And find the knowledge of God.
13[This is] the end of the matter; all hath been heard: fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole [duty] of man.
18Behold, that which I have seen to be good and to be comely is for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy good in all his labor, wherein he laboreth under the sun, all the days of his life which God hath given him: for this is his portion.

8It will be health to thy navel, And marrow to thy bones.
7Now therefore, [my] sons, hearken unto me, And depart not from the words of my mouth.
10Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do [it] with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in Sheol, whither thou goest.
1My son, attend unto my wisdom; Incline thine ear to my understanding:
25I turned about, and my heart [was set] to know and to search out, and to seek wisdom and the reason [of things], and to know that wickedness is folly, and that foolishness is madness.
24To the wise the way of life [goeth] upward, That he may depart from Sheol beneath.
15But thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.
25All men have looked thereon; Man beholdeth it afar off.
12I know that there is nothing better for them, than to rejoice, and to do good so long as they live.
20Hear counsel, and receive instruction, That thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
22Destruction and Death say, We have heard a rumor thereof with our ears.
