The Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the eastern gate of the house of the Lord, which faces eastward, and I saw twenty-five men at the entrance of the gate. Among them were Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, leaders of the people.

Og han sa til meg: Menneskesønn, disse er mennene som tenker ut ondt og gir onde råd i denne byen.

He said to me, 'Son of man, these are the men who plan evil and give wicked advice in this city.'

They say, 'It is not time to build houses; this city is the pot, and we are the meat.'

Derfor, profeter mot dem, profeter, menneskesønn.

Therefore prophesy against them; prophesy, son of man!

Og Herrens ånd kom over meg, og han sa til meg: Si: Så sier Herren: Dette er hva dere sier, Israels hus, og jeg kjenner deres tanker.

The Spirit of the Lord came upon me, and He said to me, 'Say: This is what the Lord says: This is what you have said, house of Israel, and I know the thoughts that come into your mind.'

Dere har økt antallet av deres drepte i denne byen og fylt dens gater med døde.

You have multiplied your slain in this city and filled its streets with the dead.

Derfor sier Herren Gud: De drepte som dere har lagt midt i byen, de er kjøttet, og byen er gryten. Men jeg vil føre dere ut av den.

Therefore, this is what the Lord God says: The slain you have put within it—they are the meat, and this city is the pot. But I will bring you out of it.

Sverdet som dere frykter, vil jeg føre over dere, sier Herren Gud.

You have feared the sword, so I will bring the sword against you, declares the Lord God.

Jeg vil føre dere ut fra byen og gi dere i hendene på fremmede, og jeg vil holde dom over dere.

I will bring you out of the city and deliver you into the hands of strangers. I will execute judgments upon you.

Dere skal falle for sverdet, og jeg vil dømme dere ved Israels grense. Da skal dere innse at jeg er Herren.

You will fall by the sword, and I will judge you at the border of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

Denne byen skal ikke være en gryte for dere, og dere skal ikke være kjøttet i den. Jeg vil dømme dere ved Israels grense.

This city will not be a pot for you, nor will you be the meat in it. I will judge you at the border of Israel.

Da skal dere vite at jeg er Herren, for dere har ikke fulgt mine forskrifter og ikke etterlevd mine lover. I stedet har dere fulgt lovene til de nasjonene som omgir dere.

Then you will know that I am the Lord, for you have not followed My statutes or kept My judgments, but instead you have conformed to the judgments of the nations around you.

Mens jeg profeterte, døde Pelatja, sønn av Benaja. Da falt jeg ned på mitt ansikt og ropte med høy røst: «Å, Herre Gud! Vil du utslette hele Israels rest?»

Now it came to pass, while I was prophesying, that Pelatiah son of Benaiah died. Then I fell face down and cried out with a loud voice, saying, 'Alas, Lord God! Will You completely destroy the remnant of Israel?'

Så kom Herrens ord til meg, og lød slik:

The word of the Lord came to me again, saying:

Menneskesønn, dine brødre, dine brødre og hele Israels hus har sagt til dem: Trekk dere bort fra Herren, for landet er gitt til oss som eiendom.

'Son of man, your brothers, your brothers—those close to you by kinship, and the entire house of Israel—are the ones to whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, "Keep away from the Lord; this land has been given to us as a possession."

Derfor sier Herren Gud: Selv om jeg har sendt dem langt bort blant nasjonene og spredt dem rundt i landene, vil jeg være en helligdom for dem for en liten stund i de landene hvor de har kommet.

Therefore say: This is what the Lord God says: Although I have sent them far away among the nations and scattered them among the countries, yet I have been a sanctuary for them for a little while in the lands to which they have gone.

Derfor sier Herren Gud: Jeg vil samle dere fra folkene og bringe dere fra landene der dere er spredt, og gi dere Israels land.

Therefore say: This is what the Lord God says: I will gather you from the nations, collect you from the lands where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.

Når de kommer dit, skal de fjerne alle dens motbydelige avguder og avskyeligheter.

When they arrive there, they will remove all its detestable things and all its abominations.

Jeg vil gi dem et nytt hjerte og fylle deres indre med en ny ånd. Jeg vil fjerne steinhjertet fra deres kjøtt og gi dem et kjøtthjerte,

I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them. I will remove the heart of stone from their bodies and give them a heart of flesh.

slik at de følger mine forskrifter, holder mine lover og etterlever dem. De skal være mitt folk, og jeg vil være deres Gud.

Then they will follow My statutes, keep My judgments, and carry them out. They will be My people, and I will be their God.

Men for dem som følger deres egne hjerters motbydelige avguder og avskyeligheter, vil jeg gi over deres veier på deres egne hoder, sier Herren Gud.

But as for those whose hearts follow their detestable things and their abominations, I will bring their conduct down upon their own heads, declares the Lord God.

Da løftet kjerubene sine vinger, og hjulene var ved siden av dem, og Herrens herlighet hvilte over dem.

Then the cherubim lifted their wings, and the wheels were beside them, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them.

Herrens herlighet forlot byen og stanset ved fjellet øst for byen.

The glory of the Lord went up from the midst of the city and stood over the mountain east of the city.

Så løftet ånden meg opp og brakte meg i en visjon ved Guds ånd til de bortførte i Kaldea. Visjonen jeg hadde sett, forsvant fra meg.

The Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the exiles in Chaldea in the vision given by the Spirit of God. Then the vision I had seen went up from me.

Og jeg talte til de bortførte om alle de ordene som Herren hadde vist meg.

And I spoke to the exiles all the things the Lord had shown me.
