Son of man, say to the ruler of Tyre, 'This is what the Lord GOD says: Because your heart has grown proud, and you have said, “I am a god; I sit in the seat of gods, in the heart of the seas,” but you are a man and not a god, though you have set your heart as if it were the heart of a god—

så, se, du er visere enn Daniel, ingen hemmeligheter er skjult for deg.

Indeed, you are wiser than Daniel; no secret is hidden from you.

Med din visdom og forstand har du skaffet deg rikdom og samler gull og sølv i dine skatter.

By your wisdom and understanding, you have made wealth for yourself, and you have gathered gold and silver into your treasuries.

Ved din store visdom i din handel har du økt din rikdom, og ditt hjerte er blitt stolt på grunn av din rikdom.

By your great skill in trading, you have increased your wealth, and your heart has grown proud because of your wealth.

Derfor sier Herren Gud: Fordi du gjør ditt hjerte som en Guds hjerte,

Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: Because you have set your heart as if it were the heart of a god,

se, jeg vil føre fremmede over deg, de fryktinngytende blant nasjonene, og de skal trekke sine sverd mot din visdoms prakt og vanhellige din herlighet.

therefore, behold, I will bring strangers upon you, the most ruthless of nations. They will draw their swords against your beauty and wisdom, and they will defile your splendor.

They will bring you down to the pit, and you will die the death of the slain in the heart of the seas.

Will you still say, “I am a god,” in the presence of those who kill you? Yet you are a man and not a god in the hands of those who wound you.

You will die the death of the uncircumcised at the hand of outsiders, for I have spoken,’ declares the Lord GOD.

Son of man, take up a lament concerning the king of Tyre, and say to him, ‘This is what the Lord GOD says: You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

Du var i Eden, Guds hage; alle slags edelstener var din bekledning: karneol, topas, og diamant, beryll, onyks og jaspis, safir, turkis og smaragd, og gull, kunstverket til dine trommer og fløyter hos deg ble laget på den dagen du ble skapt.

You were in Eden, the garden of God. Every precious stone was your covering: ruby, topaz, and diamond; beryl, onyx, and jasper; sapphire, turquoise, and emerald; and gold. The workmanship of your settings and mountings was prepared for you on the day you were created.

You were an anointed guardian cherub, and I placed you on the holy mountain of God. You walked among the stones of fire.

You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created until wickedness was found in you.

Through your widespread trade, you were filled with violence, and you sinned. So I drove you in disgrace from the mountain of God, and I expelled you, guardian cherub, from among the stones of fire.

Ditt hjerte ble stolt på grunn av din skjønnhet, du fordervet din visdom på grunn av din prakt; jeg kastet deg til jorden, jeg stilte deg foran kongene, så de kunne se på deg.

Your heart became proud because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom on account of your splendor. So I threw you to the earth; I made you a spectacle before kings.

Ved dine mange misgjerninger, ved ditt urettferdige handel vanhelliget du dine helligdommer; så jeg førte ild ut midt fra deg, den fortærte deg, og jeg gjorde deg til aske på jorden i øynene til alle som så på deg.

By your many sins and your dishonest trade, you have profaned your sanctuaries. So I brought fire out from within you, and it consumed you. I reduced you to ashes on the ground in the sight of all those watching.

All the nations who knew you are appalled at you; you have come to a terrible end and will exist no more forever.

The word of the LORD came to me, saying:

Menneskesønn, sett ditt ansikt mot Sidon og profeter mot henne.

Son of man, set your face toward Sidon, and prophesy against it,

Og si: Så sier Herren Gud: Se, jeg er imot deg, Sidon, og jeg vil bli herliggjort midt iblant deg, og de skal kjenne at jeg er Herren, når jeg utfører dommer i henne og viser meg hellig i henne.

and say, ‘This is what the Lord GOD says: Behold, I am against you, Sidon, and I will display My glory in your midst. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I execute judgments against her and reveal My holiness through her.

For jeg vil sende pest i henne og blod i hennes gater, og de som er drept skal falle midt i henne ved sverd på alle kanter, og de skal kjenne at jeg er Herren.

I will send a plague upon her and bloodshed in her streets. The slain will fall in her midst by the sword that attacks her from every side. Then they will know that I am the LORD.

Og det skal ikke mer være noen sårende torn eller smertefull brier for Israels hus blant alle deres naboer som forakter dem, og de skal kjenne at jeg er Herren Gud.

No longer will the people of Israel have among them a pricking brier or a painful thorn from any of their neighbors who scorn them. Then they will know that I am the Lord GOD.

Så sier Herren Gud: Når jeg samler Israels hus fra de folk som de er spredt blant, og blir helliggjort i dem for øynene til nasjonene, da skal de bo på sitt eget land som jeg gav min tjener Jakob.

This is what the Lord GOD says: When I gather the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they have been scattered, I will be shown as holy through them in the sight of the nations. Then they will live in their own land, which I gave to My servant Jacob.

De skal bo der trygt, bygge hus og plante vingårder; ja, de skal bo trygt når jeg utfører dommer over alle deres naboer som forakter dem, og de skal kjenne at jeg er Herren deres Gud.

They will live there in safety, build houses, and plant vineyards. They will live securely when I execute judgments on all their neighbors who treat them with contempt. Then they will know that I am the LORD their God.
