The word of the LORD came to me, saying:

Son of man, face toward the mountains of Israel and prophesy to them.

Og du skal si: Hør Herrens ord, Israels fjell! Så sier Herren Gud til fjellene og høydene, til ravinene og dalene: Se, jeg skal sende et sverd over dere og ødelegge deres offerhauger.

Say, 'Mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD: This is what the Lord GOD says to the mountains, the hills, the ravines, and the valleys: I am about to bring a sword against you, and I will destroy your high places.

Your altars will be demolished, and your incense altars will be shattered. I will throw down your slain before your idols.

I will lay the corpses of the Israelites before their idols, and I will scatter your bones around your altars.

I alle deres bosteder skal byene bli ødelagt og offerhaugene lagt i ruiner, så deres altere blir lagt øde og knust, deres avguder ødelagt og utslettet, deres røkelsesaltre brutt ned og deres verk utslettet.

Wherever you dwell, your cities will become ruins, and your high places will be desolate. Your altars will be demolished and abandoned, your idols broken and destroyed, your incense altars cut down, and your works wiped out.

The slain will fall among you, and you will know that I am the LORD.

Men jeg vil la noen av dere bli igjen, noen som slipper unna sverdet blant nasjonene, når jeg sprer dere blant landene.

Yet I will leave a remnant, so that some of you will escape the sword among the nations when you are scattered throughout the lands.

Then your survivors will remember Me among the nations where they are taken captive—how I was grieved by their adulterous hearts that turned away from Me, and by their eyes which lusted after their idols. They will loathe themselves for the evil they have done and for all their detestable practices.

Og de skal vite at jeg er Herren; ikke uten grunn har jeg talt om å gjøre denne ondt mot dem.

And they will know that I am the LORD; I did not warn about bringing this disaster on them without cause.

Så sier Herren Gud: Slå sammen hendene og stamp med foten, og si: Åh! Over alle de onde avskyelighetene til Israels hus, som skal falle for sverd, sult og pest.

This is what the Lord GOD says: Clap your hands, stomp your feet, and cry out, 'Alas!' because of all the wicked abominations of the house of Israel, for they will fall by the sword, famine, and plague.

Den som er langt borte skal dø av pest; den som er nær skal falle for sverdet; og den som er igjen og er beleiret, skal dø av sult. Jeg vil la min vrede ramme dem.

The one who is far away will die by the plague, the one who is near will fall by the sword, and those who survive and are besieged will die of famine. Then I will exhaust My wrath upon them.

Da skal dere kjenne at jeg er Herren når de drepte ligger blant deres avguder, omkring deres altere, på hver høyde, på alle toppen av fjellene, under hvert grønt tre og under hver frodig eik, steder hvor de har gitt en behagelig duft til alle deres avguder.

And you will know that I am the LORD, when their slain are among their idols, around their altars, on every high hill, on all the tops of the mountains, under every leafy tree, and under every thick oak—the places where they offered fragrant incense to all their idols.

Jeg vil strekke ut min hånd mot dem og gjøre landet øde, totalt øde fra ørkenen til Diblah, overalt hvor de bor. Og de skal vite at jeg er Herren.

I will stretch out My hand against them and make the land a desolate wasteland, from the wilderness to Diblah—wherever they live. Then they will know that I am the LORD.
