The word of the LORD that came to Hosea son of Beeri during the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and during the days of Jeroboam son of Joash, king of Israel.

Det begynte da Herren talte ved Hosea. Herren sa til Hosea: «Gå og ta deg en kvinne som er en skjøge, og få barn med henne, for landet har drevet utukt mot Herren.»

When the LORD first began speaking through Hosea, the LORD said to Hosea, "Go, take for yourself a wife of promiscuity and children of promiscuity, for the land is utterly unfaithful to the LORD."

Så gikk han og tok Gomer, datter av Diblaim, til kone, og hun ble gravid og fødte ham en sønn.

So he went and married Gomer, daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and gave birth to a son for him.

Herren sa til ham: «Kall ham Jisre'el, for om kort tid vil jeg straffe Jehus hus for blodbadet i Jisre'el, og jeg vil gjøre ende på Israels kongedømme.»

Then the LORD said to him, "Call him Jezreel, because in a little while I will punish the house of Jehu for the bloodshed at Jezreel, and I will bring an end to the kingdom of Israel."

On that day, I will break the bow of Israel in the Valley of Jezreel.

Hun ble gravid igjen og fødte en datter. Da sa Herren til ham: «Kall henne Lo-Ruhama (Ikke Elsket), for jeg vil ikke lenger vise nåde mot Israels hus, likevel vil jeg bære over med dem.»

Then she conceived again and gave birth to a daughter. And the LORD said to him, "Call her Lo-Ruhamah (Not Pitied), for I will no longer show compassion to the house of Israel, that I should ever forgive them."

Men over Judas hus vil jeg vise nåde, og jeg vil frelse dem ved Herren deres Gud. Jeg vil ikke frelse dem ved bue, sverd, krig, hester eller ryttere.

But I will have compassion on the house of Judah, and I will save them by the LORD their God. I will not save them by bow or sword, by war, by horses, or by horsemen.

Da hun hadde avvent Lo-Ruhama, ble hun gravid igjen og fødte en sønn.

After she had weaned Lo-Ruhamah, she conceived and gave birth to a son.

Herren sa: «Kall ham Lo-Ammi (Ikke Mitt Folk), for dere er ikke mitt folk, og jeg er ikke deres Gud."

Then the LORD said, "Call him Lo-Ammi (Not My People), for you are not my people, and I am not your God."
