Etter dette viste Jesus seg igjen for disiplene ved Tiberiassjøen. Han viste seg på denne måten:

After this, Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias, and he revealed himself in this way.

Simon Peter, Tomas som kalles tvillingen, Nataniel fra Kana i Galilea, Sebedeus' sønner og to andre av disiplene hans var samlet sammen.

Simon Peter, Thomas (called the Twin), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together.

Simon Peter sa til dem: 'Jeg går for å fiske.' De sa til ham: 'Vi kommer også med deg.' De gikk ut og gikk straks om bord i båten, men den natten fikk de ingenting.

Simon Peter said to them, 'I am going fishing.' They said to him, 'We will come with you.' So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

Da morgenen kom, sto Jesus på stranden, men disiplene visste ikke at det var Jesus.

At dawn, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize it was Jesus.

Jesus sa til dem: 'Barn, har dere noe å spise?' De svarte ham: 'Nei.'

Jesus said to them, 'Children, do you have any fish?' They answered him, 'No.'

Da sa han til dem: 'Kast garnet på høyre side av båten, så skal dere finne noe.' Så kastet de det, og nå klarte de ikke lenger å dra det opp, så mye fisk var det.

He said to them, 'Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.' So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in because of the large number of fish.

Den disippelen som Jesus elsket, sa da til Peter: 'Det er Herren.' Da Simon Peter hørte at det var Herren, bandt han ytterplagget opp om seg (for han var lettkledd) og kastet seg i sjøen.

Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, 'It is the Lord!' When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he tied his outer garment around himself (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the sea.

De andre disiplene kom i båten, for de var ikke langt fra land, bare omkring to hundre alen borte, og de trakk fiskegarnet etter seg.

The other disciples came in the small boat, pulling the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about two hundred cubits away.

Da de steg i land, så de en kullild der, med fisk som lå oppå, og brød.

When they got out on the land, they saw a charcoal fire there, with fish on it, and some bread.

Jesus sa til dem: 'Bring hit noe av de fiskene dere nettopp har fått.'

Jesus said to them, 'Bring some of the fish you have just caught.'

Simon Peter gikk opp og trakk garnet over land, fullt av store fisker, ett hundre og femti-tre i alt. Og selv om det var så mange, ble garnet ikke revet i stykker.

Simon Peter went aboard and dragged the net to shore. It was filled with large fish, 153 in total. Even with so many fish, the net was not torn.

Jesus sa til dem: 'Kom og spis frokost.' Ingen av disiplene våget å spørre ham: 'Hvem er du?' for de visste at det var Herren.

Jesus said to them, 'Come and have breakfast.' None of the disciples dared to ask him, 'Who are you?' because they knew it was the Lord.

Jesus came, took the bread, and gave it to them, and he did the same with the fish.

Dette var nå tredje gang Jesus viste seg for disiplene etter at han var stått opp fra de døde.

This was now the third time Jesus revealed himself to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.

Da de hadde spist frokost, sa Jesus til Simon Peter: 'Simon, sønn av Johannes, elsker du meg mer enn disse?' Han sa til ham: 'Ja, Herre, du vet at jeg har deg kjær.' Jesus sa til ham: 'Fø lammene mine.'

When they had finished eating, Jesus asked Simon Peter, 'Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?' Peter replied, 'Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.' Jesus said to him, 'Feed my lambs.'

Jesus sa igjen til ham, annen gang: 'Simon, sønn av Johannes, elsker du meg?' Han sa til ham: 'Ja, Herre, du vet at jeg har deg kjær.' Jesus sa: 'Vokt sauene mine.'

Jesus asked him again, 'Simon son of John, do you love me?' Peter answered, 'Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.' Jesus said to him, 'Take care of my sheep.'

For tredje gang sa han til ham: 'Simon, sønn av Johannes, har du meg kjær?' Peter ble bedrøvet fordi han for tredje gang spurte: 'Har du meg kjær?' og han sa til ham: 'Herre, du vet alt; du vet at jeg har deg kjær.' Jesus sa til ham: 'Fø sauene mine.'

The third time, Jesus asked, 'Simon son of John, do you love me?' Peter was hurt that Jesus asked him a third time, 'Do you love me?' He said, 'Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.' Jesus said to him, 'Feed my sheep.'

Sannelig, sannelig, jeg sier deg: Da du var ung, bandt du belte om deg og gikk dit du ville. Når du blir gammel, skal du strekke ut hendene dine, og en annen skal binde deg og føre deg dit du ikke vil.'

'Truly, truly, I tell you, when you were younger, you dressed yourself and walked where you wanted; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.'

Dette sa han for å antyde ved hva slags død Peter skulle ære Gud. Etter at han hadde sagt dette, sa han til ham: 'Følg meg.'

Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, 'Follow me.'

Peter vendte seg og så at den disippelen som Jesus elsket, fulgte etter, han som hadde lent seg inntil Jesus under måltidet og sagt: 'Herre, hvem er det som forråder deg?'

Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them. This was the one who had leaned against Jesus at the supper and asked, 'Lord, who is going to betray you?'

Da Peter så ham, sa han til Jesus: 'Herre, hva med ham?'

When Peter saw him, he asked Jesus, 'Lord, what about him?'

Jesus sa til ham: 'Om jeg vil at han skal bli til jeg kommer, hva angår det deg? Følg du meg!'

Jesus said to him, 'If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!'

Det ryktet spredte seg da blant brødrene, at denne disippelen ikke skulle dø. Men Jesus hadde ikke sagt til ham at han ikke skulle dø, men: 'Om jeg vil at han skal bli til jeg kommer, hva angår det deg?'

So this saying spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but rather, 'If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you?'

Dette er den disippelen som vitner om alt dette og har skrevet det ned, og vi vet at hans vitnesbyrd er sant.

This is the disciple who is testifying about these things and who wrote them down, and we know that his testimony is true.

Jesus gjorde også mange andre ting. Skulle alt dette skrives ned, tror jeg ikke hele verden ville romme alle de bøker som ble skrevet. Amen.

There are also many other things that Jesus did. If every one of them were written down, I suppose not even the world itself could contain the books that would be written. Amen.
