1 Deretter sa Jehova til Moses: Gå inn til farao og si til ham: Så sier Jehova, Hebreernes Gud, La mitt folk gå, så de kan tjene meg.

Then Jehovah said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

2 For hvis du nekter å la dem gå, og fortsatt vil holde dem tilbake,

For if thou refuse to let them go, and wilt hold them still,

3 se, så vil Jehovas hånd komme over ditt buskap som er på marken, over hestene, over eslene, over kamelene, over dyreflokkene og over hjordene: det vil oppstå en svært alvorlig pest.

behold, the hand of Jehovah is upon thy cattle which are in the field, upon the horses, upon the asses, upon the camels, upon the herds, and upon the flocks: `there shall be' a very grievous murrain.

4 Og Jehova skal gjøre forskjell på Israels buskap og Egypts buskap, og ingen ting av det som tilhører Israels barn skal dø.

And Jehovah shall make a distinction between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt; and there shall nothing die of all that belongeth to the children of Israel.

5 Og Jehova fastsatte en tid og sa: I morgen skal Jehova gjøre dette i landet.

And Jehovah appointed a set time, saying, To-morrow Jehovah shall do this thing in the land.

6 Og Jehova gjorde dette neste dag, og all buskapen i Egypt døde, men av Israels barns buskap døde ikke en eneste.

And Jehovah did that thing on the morrow; and all the cattle of Egypt died; but of the cattle of the children of Israel died not one.

7 Og farao sendte speidere, og se, det var ikke en eneste av Israels barns buskap som var død. Men faraos hjerte var sta, og han lot ikke folket gå.

And Pharaoh sent, and, behold, there was not so much as one of the cattle of the Israelites dead. But the heart of Pharaoh was stubborn, and he did not let the people go.

8 Og Jehova sa til Moses og Aron: Ta håndfuller av aske fra ovnen, og la Moses kaste den opp mot himmelen foran farao.

And Jehovah said unto Moses and unto Aaron, Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward heaven in the sight of Pharaoh.

9 Og det skal bli et fint støv over hele Egypt, og det skal bli byller som bryter ut med blemmer på mennesker og dyr i hele Egypt.

And it shall become small dust over all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains upon man and upon beast, throughout all the land of Egypt.

10 Og de tok asken fra ovnen og stilte seg foran farao, og Moses kastet den opp mot himmelen, og det ble byller som brøt ut med blemmer på mennesker og dyr.

And they took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward heaven; and it became a boil breaking forth with blains upon man and upon beast.

11 Og magikerne kunne ikke stå foran Moses på grunn av byllene, for byllene var på magikerne og på alle egypterne.

And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boils were upon the magicians, and upon all the Egyptians.

12 Og Jehova gjorde faraos hjerte hardt, og han hørte ikke på dem, som Jehova hadde sagt til Moses.

And Jehovah hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he hearkened not unto them, as Jehovah had spoken unto Moses.

13 Og Jehova sa til Moses: Stå tidlig opp om morgenen og still deg foran farao, og si til ham: Så sier Jehova, Hebreernes Gud, La mitt folk gå, så de kan tjene meg.

And Jehovah said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

14 For denne gangen vil jeg sende alle mine plager mot deg, mot dine tjenere og mot ditt folk, slik at du skal vite at det ikke er noen som meg i hele verden.

For I will this time send all my plagues upon thy heart, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people; that thou mayest know that there is none like me in all the earth.

15 For nå kunne jeg ha rakt ut min hånd og slått deg og ditt folk med pest, slik at du var blitt utslettet fra jorden.

For now I had put forth my hand, and smitten thee and thy people with pestilence, and thou hadst been cut off from the earth:

16 Men for dette har jeg opprettholdt deg, for at jeg skal vise deg min makt, og at mitt navn skal forkynnes over hele jorden.

but in very deed for this cause have I made thee to stand, to show thee my power, and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.

17 Men ennå opphøyer du deg mot mitt folk, og du vil ikke la dem gå.

As yet exaltest thou thyself against my people, that thou wilt not let them go?

18 Se, i morgen på denne tiden vil jeg la det regne en svært kraftig haglstorm, slik som ikke har vært i Egypt fra den dagen det ble grunnlagt, og til nå.

Behold, to-morrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as hath not been in Egypt since the day it was founded even until now.

19 Send derfor og hent inn din buskap og alt du har på marken, for hver mann og dyr som finnes på marken og ikke bringes hjem, skal få haglet over seg og dø.

Now therefore send, hasten in thy cattle and all that thou hast in the field; `for' every man and beast that shall be found in the field, and shall not be brought home, the hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die.

20 Den blant faraos tjenere som fryktet Jehovas ord, beforet sine tjenere og sin buskap til husene.

He that feared the word of Jehovah among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses.

21 Men den som ikke brydde seg om Jehovas ord, lot sine tjenere og sin buskap bli igjen på marken.

And he that regarded not the word of Jehovah left his servants and his cattle in the field.

22 Og Jehova sa til Moses: Rekk ut din hånd mot himmelen, så det kan bli hagl over hele Egypt, over mennesker, over dyr og over hver plante på marken i hele Egypt.

And Jehovah said unto Moses, Stretch forth thy hand toward heaven, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, upon man, and upon beast, and upon every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.

23 Og Moses rakte ut staven sin mot himmelen, og Jehova sendte torden og hagl, og ild flammende ned på jorden; og Jehova lot hagl regne over Egypt.

And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and Jehovah sent thunder and hail, and fire ran down unto the earth; and Jehovah rained hail upon the land of Egypt.

24 Så det ble hagl og ild blandet med haglet, veldig kraftig, slik som det ikke hadde vært i hele Egypt fra det ble en nasjon.

So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.

25 Og haglet slo ned alt som var på marken i hele Egypt, både mennesker og dyr, og haglet slo hver plante på marken og brøt hvert tre på marken.

And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field.

26 Bare i landet Gosen, der Israels barn var, var det ikke hagl.

Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail.

27 Og farao sendte bud og kalte på Moses og Aron og sa til dem: Denne gangen har jeg syndet: Jehova er rettferdig, og jeg og mitt folk er ugudelige.

And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time: Jehovah is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.

28 Be Jehova, for det har vært nok av denne voldsomme torden og hagl; og jeg vil la dere gå, og dere skal ikke bli lenger.

Entreat Jehovah; for there hath been enough of `these' mighty thunderings and hail; and I will let you go, and ye shall stay no longer.

29 Og Moses sa til ham: Så snart jeg har gått ut av byen, vil jeg strekke ut mine hender til Jehova; torden skal slutte, og det skal ikke mer være hagl, så du kan vite at jorden tilhører Jehova.

And Moses said unto him, As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands unto Jehovah; the thunders shall cease, neither shall there be any more hail; that thou mayest know that the earth is Jehovah's.

30 Men hva deg og dine tjenere angår, vet jeg at dere ennå ikke frykter Jehova Gud.

But as for thee and thy servants, I know that ye will not yet fear Jehovah God.

31 Og lin og bygg ble slått ned, for byggen hadde nå aks, og linen var i blomst.

And the flax and the barley were smitten: for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was in bloom.

32 Men hvete og spelt ble ikke slått ned, for de var ikke vokst opp.

But the wheat and the spelt were not smitten: for they were not grown up.

33 Og Moses gikk ut av byen fra farao, og strakte ut sine hender til Jehova; og torden og hagl sluttet, og regn strømmet ikke lenger ned på jorden.

And Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread abroad his hands unto Jehovah: and the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured upon the earth.

34 Og da farao så at regnet og haglet og torden var sluttet, syndet han ennå mer, og gjorde sitt hjerte hardt, både han og hans tjenere.

And when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders were ceased, he sinned yet more, and hardened his heart, he and his servants.

35 Og faraos hjerte ble forherdet, og han lot ikke Israels barn gå, slik Jehova hadde sagt gjennom Moses.

And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the children of Israel go, as Jehovah had spoken by Moses.
