1 Og du, menneskesønn, profeter til Israels fjell og si: Israels fjell, hør Herrens ord.

And thou, son of man, prophesy unto the mountains of Israel, and say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of Jehovah.

2 Så sier Herren Gud: Fordi fienden har sagt mot dere: Haha! De gamle offerhaugene er blitt vår eiendom;

Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because the enemy hath said against you, Aha! and, The ancient high places are ours in possession;

3 derfor profeter og si: Så sier Herren Gud: Fordi de har lagt dere øde og slukt dere fra alle kanter, slik at dere skulle bli en eiendom for restene av folkene, og dere er blitt samtaleemne på leppene til dem som snakker, og et dårlig rykte blant folkene,

therefore prophesy, and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because, even because they have made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that ye might be a possession unto the residue of the nations, and ye are taken up in the lips of talkers, and the evil report of the people;

4 derfor, Israels fjell, hør Herrens ord: Så sier Herren Gud til fjellene og til haugene, til elvene og til dalene, til de øde markene og til de forlatte byene som har blitt til rov og hån for restene av folkene rundt omkring,

therefore, ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord Jehovah: Thus saith the Lord Jehovah to the mountains and to the hills, to the watercourses and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes and to the cities that are forsaken, which are become a prey and derision to the residue of the nations that are round about;

5 derfor sier Herren Gud: Sannelig, i min brennende iver har jeg talt mot restene av folkene og mot hele Edom, som har tildelt seg mitt land som eiendom med hele hjertets glede og med dyp forakt, for å drive det ut til rov.

therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Surely in the fire of my jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the nations, and against all Edom, that have appointed my land unto themselves for a possession with the joy of all their heart, with despite of soul, to cast it out for a prey.

6 Derfor, profeter om Israels land, og si til fjellene og haugene, til elvene og dalene: Så sier Herren Gud: Se, jeg har talt i min sjalusi og i min vrede, fordi dere har båret folks skam.

Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and say unto the mountains and to the hills, to the watercourses and to the valleys, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I have spoken in my jealousy and in my wrath, because ye have borne the shame of the nations:

7 Derfor sier Herren Gud: Jeg har sverget, siger jeg, sannelig, de folkene som er rundt dere, de skal bære sin skam.

therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I have sworn, `saying', Surely the nations that are round about you, they shall bear their shame.

8 Men dere, Israels fjell, dere skal skyte greiner og bære frukt til mitt folk Israel; for de er nær ved å komme.

But ye, O mountains of Israel, ye shall shoot forth your branches, and yield your fruit to my people Israel; for they are at hand to come.

9 For se, jeg er med dere, og jeg vil vende meg til dere, og dere skal bli dyrket og sådd;

For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn into you, and ye shall be tilled and sown;

10 og jeg vil gjøre mennesker tallrike på dere, hele Israels hus, ja hele det; og byene skal bli bebodd, og ødemarkene skal bygges opp;

and I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, even all of it; and the cities shall be inhabited, and the waste places shall be builded;

11 og jeg vil gjøre menneske og dyr tallrike på dere, og de skal øke og være fruktbare; og jeg vil la dere bli bebodd som før, og jeg vil gjøre det bedre for dere enn i begynnelsen: og dere skal vite at jeg er Herren.

and I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and be fruitful; and I will cause you to be inhabited after your former estate, and will do better `unto you' than at your beginnings: and ye shall know that I am Jehovah.

12 Ja, jeg vil la mennesker vandre på dere, mitt folk Israel; og de skal eie dere, og dere skal være deres arv, og dere skal ikke lenger berøve dem deres barn.

Yea, I will cause men to walk upon you, even my people Israel; and they shall possess thee, and thou shalt be their inheritance, and thou shalt no more henceforth bereave them of children.

13 Så sier Herren Gud: Fordi de sier om dere: Du land eter mennesker, og har vært en barnerøver av ditt folk;

Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because they say unto you, Thou `land' art a devourer of men, and hast been a bereaver of thy nation;

14 derfor skal du ikke lenger ete mennesker, heller ikke lenger berøve ditt folk, sier Herren Gud;

therefore thou shalt devour men no more, neither bereave thy nation any more, saith the Lord Jehovah;

15 heller ikke skal jeg la deg høre folks skam mer, heller ikke skal du bære folkets vanære lenger, og heller ikke skal du få ditt folk til å snuble lenger, sier Herren Gud.

neither will I let thee hear any more the shame of the nations, neither shalt thou bear the reproach of the peoples any more, neither shalt thou cause thy nation to stumble any more, saith the Lord Jehovah.

16 Og Herrens ord kom til meg og sa:

Moreover the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

17 Menneskesønn, da Israels hus bodde i sitt eget land, gjorde de det urent ved sin vei og ved sine gjerninger; deres vei for meg var som urenheten til en kvinne i hennes menstruasjon.

Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their way and by their doings: their way before me was as the uncleanness of a woman in her impurity.

18 Derfor helte jeg ut min vrede over dem for blodet de hadde utøst over landet, fordi de hadde gjort det urent med sine avguder;

Wherefore I poured out my wrath upon them for the blood which they had poured out upon the land, and because they had defiled it with their idols;

19 og jeg spredte dem blant folkene, og de ble spredt gjennom landene; etter deres vei og etter deres gjerninger dømte jeg dem.

and I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them.

20 Og da de kom til folkene hvor de gikk, vanæret de mitt hellige navn, ved at folk sa om dem: Dette er Herrens folk, og de har gått ut av hans land.

And when they came unto the nations, whither they went, they profaned my holy name; in that men said of them, These are the people of Jehovah, and are gone forth out of his land.

21 Men jeg hadde omsorg for mitt hellige navn, som Israels hus hadde vanæret blant de folkene hvor de kom.

But I had regard for my holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations, whither they went.

22 Derfor skal du si til Israels hus: Så sier Herren Gud: Jeg gjør ikke dette for deres skyld, Israels hus, men for mitt hellige navn, som dere har vanæret blant folkene hvor dere kom.

Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I do not `this' for your sake, O house of Israel, but for my holy name, which ye have profaned among the nations, whither ye went.

23 Og jeg vil hellige mitt store navn, som har blitt vanæret blant folkene, som dere har vanæret midt iblant dem; og folkene skal vite at jeg er Herren, sier Herren Gud, når jeg helliger meg i dere for deres øyne.

And I will sanctify my great name, which hath been profaned among the nations, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the nations shall know that I am Jehovah, saith the Lord Jehovah, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.

24 For jeg vil ta dere fra folkene, samle dere fra alle landene, og føre dere til deres eget land.

For I will take you from among the nations, and gather you out of all the countries, and will bring you into your own land.

25 Og jeg vil stenke rent vann over dere, og dere skal bli rene; fra alle deres skitne gjerninger og fra alle deres avguder vil jeg rense dere.

And I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

26 Og jeg vil gi dere et nytt hjerte og legge en ny ånd i dere; og jeg vil ta bort steinhjertet av deres kjøtt, og gi dere et hjerte av kjøtt.

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.

27 Og jeg vil legge min Ånd i dere, og årsake dere til å vandre i mine forskrifter, og dere skal holde mine lover og gjøre dem.

And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep mine ordinances, and do them.

28 Og dere skal bo i det landet jeg ga til deres fedre; og dere skal være mitt folk, og jeg vil være deres Gud.

And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

29 Og jeg vil frelse dere fra all deres urenhet: og jeg vil kalle på kornet og multiplisere det, og ikke legge noen hungersnød over dere.

And I will save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the grain, and will multiply it, and lay no famine upon you.

30 Og jeg vil multiplisere frukten fra treet, og avlingen fra marken, slik at dere ikke lenger skal få folkets vanære ved hungersnød.

And I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that ye may receive no more the reproach of famine among the nations.

31 Da skal dere huske deres onde veier og deres gjerninger som ikke var gode; og dere skal avsky dere selv for deres misgjerninger og for deres vederstyggeligheter.

Then shall ye remember your evil ways, and your doings that were not good; and ye shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.

32 Ikke for deres skyld gjør jeg dette, sier Herren Gud, la det være kjent for dere: vær skamfulle og tilstoppet over deres veier, Israels hus.

Nor for your sake do I `this', saith the Lord Jehovah, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your ways, O house of Israel.

33 Så sier Herren Gud: Den dagen jeg renser dere fra alle deres misgjerninger, vil jeg få byene til å bli bebodd, og de øde steder skal bli bygget opp.

Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: In the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will cause the cities to be inhabited, and the waste places shall be builded.

34 Og landet som var øde skal bli dyrket, som det var en øde i alles øyne som gikk forbi.

And the land that was desolate shall be tilled, whereas it was a desolation in the sight of all that passed by.

35 Og de skal si: Dette landet som var øde har blitt som Edens hage; og de øde og forlatte og ødelagte byene er blitt befestet og bebodd.

And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are fortified and inhabited.

36 Da skal folkene rundt dere vite at jeg, Herren, har bygget det ødelagte stedet, og plantet den ødemark: jeg, Herren, har talt det, og jeg vil gjøre det.

Then the nations that are left round about you shall know that I, Jehovah, have builded the ruined places, and planted that which was desolate: I, Jehovah, have spoken it, and I will do it.

37 Så sier Herren Gud: For dette vil jeg la meg bli spurt av Israels hus, for å gjøre det for dem: jeg vil øke dem som en saueflokk.

Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: For this, moreover, will I be inquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them: I will increase them with men like a flock.

38 Som offerflokken, som flokken av Jerusalem i sine bestemte høytider, slik skal de øde byene være fylt med flokker av mennesker; og de skal vite at jeg er Herren.

As the flock for sacrifice, as the flock of Jerusalem in her appointed feasts, so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.
