1 I det første året til Kyros, kongen av Persia, for at Herrens ord gjennom Jeremia skulle oppfylles, vakte Herren ånden til Kyros, kongen av Persia, slik at han kunngjorde det i hele sitt rike, og skrev det også ned, og sa:

Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of Jehovah by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and `put it' also in writing, saying,

2 Så sier Kyros, kongen av Persia: Alle jordens riker har Herren, himmelens Gud, gitt meg, og han har pålagt meg å bygge et hus for ham i Jerusalem, som er i Juda.

Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath Jehovah, the God of heaven, given me; and he hath charged me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

3 Enhver blant dere av hans folk, må hans Gud være med ham, og la ham dra opp til Jerusalem, som er i Juda, og bygge Herrens, Israels Guds hus (han er Gud), som er i Jerusalem.

Whosoever there is among you of all his people, his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of Jehovah, the God of Israel (he is God), which is in Jerusalem.

4 Og enhver som er igjen, uansett hvor han bor, la mennene fra hans sted hjelpe ham med sølv, med gull, med gods og med dyr, i tillegg til de frivillige offerene for Guds hus som er i Jerusalem.

And whosoever is left, in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, besides the freewill-offering for the house of God which is in Jerusalem.

5 Da reiste lederne for fedrenes hus av Juda og Benjamin seg, og prestene og levittene, alle som Gud hadde vekket ånden til, for å dra opp og bygge Herrens hus som er i Jerusalem.

Then rose up the heads of fathers' `houses' of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, even all whose spirit God had stirred to go up to build the house of Jehovah which is in Jerusalem.

6 Og alle de rundt dem styrket deres hender med sølvkar, med gull, med gods, med dyr, og med kostbare ting, i tillegg til alt som ble villig ofret.

And all they that were round about them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with beasts, and with precious things, besides all that was willingly offered.

7 Også Kyros, kongen, tok frem karene fra Herrens hus, som Nebukadnesar hadde tatt ut av Jerusalem og plassert i sitt gudehus.

Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of Jehovah, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put in the house of his gods;

8 Disse lot Kyros, kongen av Persia, bringe frem ved Mithredats hånd, skattmesteren, og tellet dem til Sjesjbassar, styresmannen i Juda.

even those did Cyrus king of Persia bring forth by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and numbered them unto Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah.

9 Og dette er antallet av dem: tretti gullfat, tusen sølvfat, ni og tjue kniver,

And this is the number of them: thirty platters of gold, a thousand platters of silver, nine and twenty knives,

10 tretti gullboller, fire hundre og ti sølvboller av annen sort, og tusen andre kar.

thirty bowls of gold, silver bowls of a second sort four hundred and ten, and other vessels a thousand.

11 Alle karene av gull og sølv var fem tusen fire hundre. Alle disse tok Sjesjbassar med seg da de kom tilbake fra fangenskapet i Babylon til Jerusalem.

All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred. All these did Sheshbazzar bring up, when they of the captivity were brought up from Babylon unto Jerusalem.
