1 Egypts byrde. Se, Herren rir på en rask sky og kommer til Egypt; og Egyptens avguder skal skjelve for hans nærvær, og hjertet til Egypt skal smelte i dens midte.

The burden of Egypt. Behold, Jehovah rideth upon a swift cloud, and cometh unto Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall tremble at his presence; and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.

2 Og jeg vil egge egypterne mot egypterne; de skal kjempe, hver mot sin bror og hver mot sin nabo; by mot by og rike mot rike.

And I will stir up the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbor; city against city, `and' kingdom against kingdom.

3 Og Egypts ånd skal svikte i dens midte; og jeg vil ødelegge dens kloke råd, og de vil spørre sine avguder og trollmenn, de som taler med ånder, og spåmenn.

And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst of it; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek unto the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards.

4 Og jeg vil gi egypterne over i en grusom herres hender, og en hard konge skal herske over dem, sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud.

And I will give over the Egyptians into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts.

5 Og vannet skal svinne fra sjøen, og elven skal bli ødelagt og tørke ut.

And the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and become dry.

6 Og elvene skal bli forurenset; Egypts bekker skal svinne og tørke ut; sivet og rørplantene skal visne bort.

And the rivers shall become foul; the streams of Egypt shall be diminished and dried up; the reeds and flags shall wither away.

7 Engene ved Nilen, ved Nils bredder, og alle de sådde feltene ved Nilen, skal bli tørre, bli ført bort og ikke mer finnes.

The meadows by the Nile, by the brink of the Nile, and all the sown fields of the Nile, shall become dry, be driven away, and be no more.

8 Og fiskerne skal klage, og alle de som kaster stang i Nilen skal sørge, og de som sprer garn på vannet skal sygne hen.

And the fishers shall lament, and all they that cast angle into the Nile shall mourn, and they that spread nets upon the waters shall languish.

9 Dessuten skal de som arbeider med kardet lin, og de som vever hvite stoffer, bli til skamme.

Moreover they that work in combed flax, and they that weave white cloth, shall be confounded.

10 Og støttepilarene i Egypt skal bli knust; alle som arbeider for lønn skal bli bedrøvet i sjelen.

And the pillars `of Egypt' shall be broken in pieces; all they that work for hire `shall be' grieved in soul.

11 Fyrstene i Soan er fullstendig tåpelige; rådene fra de klokeste rådgiverne til Farao er blitt tåpelige: Hvordan kan dere si til Farao, Jeg er sønn av de vise, sønn av gamle konger?

The princes of Zoan are utterly foolish; the counsel of the wisest counsellors of Pharaoh is become brutish: how say ye unto Pharaoh, I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?

12 Hvor er da dine vise menn? La dem nå fortelle deg, og la dem vite hva hærskarenes Gud har til hensikt med Egypt.

Where then are thy wise men? and let them tell thee now; and let them know what Jehovah of hosts hath purposed concerning Egypt.

13 Fyrstene i Soan er blitt tåper, fyrstene i Memfis er forledet; de har ført Egypten på villspor, de som er hjørnesteinen i hennes stammer.

The princes of Zoan are become fools, the princes of Memphis are deceived; they have caused Egypt to go astray, that are the corner-stone of her tribes.

14 Herren har blandet en ånd av fordervelse i hennes midte; og de har ført Egypt vill i alt hennes verk, som en drukken mann vakler i sitt spy.

Jehovah hath mingled a spirit of perverseness in the midst of her; and they have caused Egypt to go astray in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit.

15 Og det skal ikke finnes noe arbeid for Egypt som verken hode eller hale, palmegren eller siv, kan utføre.

Neither shall there be for Egypt any work, which head or tail, palm-branch or rush, may do.

16 På den dagen skal egypterne bli som kvinner; de skal skjelve og frykte på grunn av det Herrens, hærskarenes Guds, hånd gjør mot dem.

In that day shall the Egyptians be like unto women; and they shall tremble and fear because of the shaking of the hand of Jehovah of hosts, which he shaketh over them.

17 Og Judas land skal bli en skrekk for Egypt; hver den som nevner det skal bli redd på grunn av hva hærskarenes Gud har fastsatt mot det.

And the land of Judah shall become a terror unto Egypt; every one to whom mention is made thereof shall be afraid, because of the purpose of Jehovah of hosts, which he purposeth against it.

18 På den dagen skal det være fem byer i Egypt som taler Kanaans språk og sverger ved hærskarenes Gud; en av dem skal kalles Ødeleggelsens by.

In that day there shall be five cities in the land of Egypt that speak the language of Canaan, and swear to Jehovah of hosts; one shall be called The city of destruction.

19 På den dagen skal det være et alter for Herren midt i Egypt og en støtte ved grensen til Herren.

In that day shall there be an altar to Jehovah in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to Jehovah.

20 Og det skal være et tegn og et vitnesbyrd for hærskarenes Gud i Egypt; for de skal rope til Herren på grunn av undertrykkerne, og han vil sende dem en frelser og en forsvarer, og han vil befri dem.

And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto Jehovah of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they shall cry unto Jehovah because of oppressors, and he will send them a saviour, and a defender, and he will deliver them.

21 Og Herren skal bli kjent for Egypt, og egypterne skal kjenne Herren på den dagen; de skal tilbe med offer og blot, gi løfter til Herren og oppfylle dem.

And Jehovah shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know Jehovah in that day; yea, they shall worship with sacrifice and oblation, and shall vow a vow unto Jehovah, and shall perform it.

22 Og Herren vil slå Egypten, men deretter helbrede den; og de skal vende om til Herren, og han vil la seg overbevise av dem og helbrede dem.

And Jehovah will smite Egypt, smiting and healing; and they shall return unto Jehovah, and he will be entreated of them, and will heal them.

23 På den dagen skal det være en vei fra Egypt til Assyria; assyreren skal komme inn i Egypt, og egypteren inn i Assyria, og egypterne skal tilbe sammen med assyrerne.

In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria; and the Egyptians shall worship with the Assyrians.

24 På den dagen skal Israel være den tredje sammen med Egypt og Assyria, en velsignelse midt på jorden;

In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth;

25 for Herren, hærskarenes Gud, har velsignet dem og sagt: Velsignet er Egypt, mitt folk, og Assyria, mine henders verk, og Israel, min arv.

for that Jehovah of hosts hath blessed them, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.
