1 Og Herren talte til Moses og sa:

And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Gi Israels barn befaling, og si til dem: Når dere kommer til Kanaans land (dette er landet dere skal få til arv, nemlig Kanaans land etter grensene),

Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land of Canaan (this is the land that shall fall unto you for an inheritance, even the land of Canaan according to the borders thereof),

3 skal deres sørlige grense gå fra ørkenen Sin langs Edoms side, og sørgrensen skal gå fra den østre enden av Dødehavet;

then your south quarter shall be from the wilderness of Zin along by the side of Edom, and your south border shall be from the end of the Salt Sea eastward;

4 Deres grense skal bøye seg sør for Akkrabbim-oppstigningen og gå forbi Sin; og utgangen av den skal være sør for Kadesj-Barnea og gå videre til Hazar-Addar og passere forbi Asmon;

and your border shall turn about southward of the ascent of Akrabbim, and pass along to Zin; and the goings out thereof shall be southward of Kadesh-barnea; and it shall go forth to Hazar-addar, and pass along to Azmon;

5 og grensen skal bøye seg fra Asmon til Egypterbekken, og utgangen skal være ved sjøen.

and the border shall turn about from Azmon unto the brook of Egypt, and the goings out thereof shall be at the sea.

6 Den store sjøen med kysten der skal være deres vestgrense.

And for the western border, ye shall have the great sea and the border `thereof': this shall be your west border.

7 Dette skal være deres nordgrense: fra den store sjøen skal dere sette grensen mot fjellet Hor;

And this shall be your north border: from the great sea ye shall mark out for you mount Hor;

8 fra fjellet Hor skal grensen gå til inngangen til Hamat, og utgangen av grensen skal være ved Sedad;

from mount Hor ye shall mark out unto the entrance of Hamath; and the goings out of the border shall be at Zedad;

9 og grensen skal gå til Sifron, og utgangen skal være ved Hazar-Enan: dette skal være deres nordgrense.

and the border shall go forth to Ziphron, and the goings out thereof shall be at Hazar-enan: this shall be your north border.

10 Dere skal sette deres østgrense fra Hazar-Enan til Sefam;

And ye shall mark out your east border from Hazar-enan to Shepham;

11 og grensen skal gå ned fra Sefam til Ribla, øst for Ain, og grensen skal gå videre ned og nå til østsiden av Kinnerets sjø;

and the border shall go down from Shepham to Riblah, on the east side of Ain; and the border shall go down, and shall reach unto the side of the sea of Chinnereth eastward;

12 og grensen skal gå ned til Jordan, og utgangen av den skal være ved Dødehavet. Dette skal være deres land etter grensene omkring.

and the border shall go down to the Jordan, and the goings out thereof shall be at the Salt Sea. This shall be your land according to the borders thereof round about.

13 Og Moses ga Israels barn beskjed og sa: Dette er landet dere skal dele ved lodd, som Herren har befalt å gi de ni stammene og en halv stamme;

And Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying, This is the land which ye shall inherit by lot, which Jehovah hath commanded to give unto the nine tribes, and to the half-tribe;

14 for Rubens stamme etter deres familier, Gads stamme etter deres familier, og en halv stamme av Manasse har mottatt deres arv;

for the tribe of the children of Reuben according to their fathers' houses, and the tribe of the children of Gad according to their fathers' houses, have received, and the half-tribe of Manasseh have received, their inheritance:

15 de to stammene og en halv stamme har mottatt deres arv på den andre siden av Jordan ved Jeriko, mot øst, der solen står opp.

the two tribes and the half-tribe have received their inheritance beyond the Jordan at Jericho eastward, toward the sunrising.

16 Og Herren talte til Moses og sa:

And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

17 Dette er navnene på de menn som skal dele landet for dere, til arv: Eleazar, presten, og Josva, Nuns sønn.

These are the names of the men that shall divide the land unto you for inheritance: Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun.

18 Og dere skal ta en fyrste av hver stamme for å dele landet til arv for dere.

And ye shall take one prince of every tribe, to divide the land for inheritance.

19 Dette er navnene på mennene: Fra Judas stamme, Kaleb, Jefunnes sønn.

And these are the names of the men: Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

20 Fra Simons barns stamme, Sjemuel, Ammiuds sønn.

And of the tribe of the children of Simeon, Shemuel the son of Ammihud.

21 Fra Benjamins stamme, Elidad, Kislons sønn.

Of the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad the son of Chislon.

22 Fra Dans barns stamme, en fyrste, Bukki, Joglis sønn.

And of the tribe of the children of Dan a prince, Bukki the son of Jogli.

23 Av Josefs barn: Fra Manasses barns stamme, en fyrste, Hanniel, Efods sønn.

Of the children of Joseph: of the tribe of the children of Manasseh a prince, Hanniel the son of Ephod.

24 Og fra Efraims barns stamme, en fyrste, Kemuel, Siftans sønn.

And of the tribe of the children of Ephraim a prince, Kemuel the son of Shiphtan.

25 Fra Sebulons barns stamme, en fyrste, Elisafan, Parnaks sønn.

And of the tribe of the children of Zebulun a prince, Elizaphan the son of Parnach.

26 Fra Isakars barns stamme, en fyrste, Paltiel, Assans sønn.

And of the tribe of the children of Issachar a prince, Paltiel the son of Azzan.

27 Fra Asers barns stamme, en fyrste, Ahihud, Sjelomis sønn.

And of the tribe of the children of Asher a prince, Ahihud the son of Shelomi.

28 Fra Naftalis barns stamme, en fyrste, Pedael, Ammiuds sønn.

And of the tribe of the children of Naphtali a prince, Pedahel the son of Ammihud.

29 Dette er de som Herren befalte å dele arven til Israels barn i Kanaans land.

These are they whom Jehovah commanded to divide the inheritance unto the children of Israel in the land of Canaan.
