Verse 1

The sons of Issachar were Tola, Puah, Jashub, and Shimron, four in total.

Now the sons of Issachar were, Tola, and Puah, Jashub, and Shimron, four.

Verse 2

The sons of Tola were Uzzi, Rephaiah, Jerial, Jahmai, Jibsam, and Samuel, heads of their ancestral families. They were mighty warriors in their generations, and their number during the days of David was twenty-two thousand six hundred.

And the sons of Tola; Uzzi, and Rephaiah, and Jeriel, and Jahmai, and Jibsam, and Shemuel, heads of their father's house, to wit, of Tola: they were valiant men of might in their generations; whose number was in the days of David two and twenty thousand and six hundred.

Verse 3

The sons of Uzzi: Izrahiah. The sons of Izrahiah: Michael, Obadiah, Joel, and Isshiah, five in total, all heads of families.

And the sons of Uzzi; Izrahiah: and the sons of Izrahiah; Michael, and Obadiah, and Joel, Ishiah, five: all of them chief men.

Verse 4

Alongside these, according to their generations and their ancestral families, were divisions of warriors for battle—thirty-six thousand in total, for they had many wives and children.

And with them, by their generations, after the house of their fathers, were bands of soldiers for war, six and thirty thousand men: for they had many wives and sons.

Verse 5

Their brothers among all the families of Issachar were mighty warriors, with a total of eighty-seven thousand registered in all.

And their brethren among all the families of Issachar were valiant men of might, reckoned in all by their genealogies fourscore and seven thousand.

Verse 6

Benjamin had three sons: Bela, Beker, and Jediael.

The sons of Benjamin; Bela, and Becher, and Jediael, three.

Verse 7

The sons of Bela: Ezbon, Uzzi, Uzziel, Jerimoth, and Iri, five in total, heads of their families and mighty warriors. Their registration totaled twenty-two thousand thirty-four.

And the sons of Bela; Ezbon, and Uzzi, and Uzziel, and Jerimoth, and Iri, five; heads of the house of their fathers, mighty men of valour; and were reckoned by their genealogies twenty and two thousand and thirty and four.

Verse 8

The sons of Beker were Zemirah, Joash, Eliezer, Elioenai, Omri, Jerimoth, Abijah, Anathoth, and Alemeth. All these were the sons of Beker.

And the sons of Becher; Zemira, and Joash, and Eliezer, and Elioenai, and Omri, and Jerimoth, and Abiah, and Anathoth, and Alameth. All these are the sons of Becher.

Verse 9

Their family records and registrations listed them as the heads of their ancestral families, mighty warriors totaling twenty thousand two hundred.

And the number of them, after their genealogy by their generations, heads of the house of their fathers, mighty men of valour, was twenty thousand and two hundred.

Verse 10

The sons of Jediael: Bilhan. The sons of Bilhan: Jeush, Benjamin, Ehud, Chenaanah, Zethan, Tarshish, and Ahishahar.

The sons also of Jediael; Bilhan: and the sons of Bilhan; Jeush, and Benjamin, and Ehud, and Chenaanah, and Zethan, and Tharshish, and Ahishahar.

Verse 11

All the sons of Jediael, counted among the heads of their ancestral families and mighty warriors prepared for battle, totaled seventeen thousand two hundred.

All these the sons of Jediael, by the heads of their fathers, mighty men of valour, were seventeen thousand and two hundred soldiers, fit to go out for war and battle.

Verse 12

Shuppim and Huppim were the sons of Ir, and Hushim was the son of Aher.

Shuppim also, and Huppim, the children of Ir, and Hushim, the sons of Aher.

Verse 13

The sons of Naphtali were Jahziel, Guni, Jezer, and Shallum. These were the sons of Bilhah.

The sons of Naphtali; Jahziel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shallum, the sons of Bilhah.

Verse 14

The descendants of Manasseh through his concubine the Aramean woman: Asriel, whom she bore. She gave birth to Makir, the father of Gilead.

The sons of Manasseh; Ashriel, whom she bare: (but his concubine the Aramitess bare Machir the father of Gilead:

Verse 15

Makir took a wife for Huppim and Shuppim. His sister’s name was Maacah. Another descendant was Zelophehad, who had only daughters.

And Machir took to wife the sister of Huppim and Shuppim, whose sister's name was Maachah;) and the name of the second was Zelophehad: and Zelophehad had daughters.

Verse 16

Maacah, the wife of Makir, bore a son, and she named him Peresh. His brother’s name was Sheresh, and his sons were Ulam and Rakem.

And Maachah the wife of Machir bare a son, and she called his name Peresh; and the name of his brother was Sheresh; and his sons were Ulam and Rakem.

Verse 17

The sons of Ulam were Bedan. These were the descendants of Gilead, the son of Makir, the son of Manasseh.

And the sons of Ulam; Bedan. These were the sons of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh.

Verse 18

His sister Hammoleketh bore Ishhod, Abiezer, and Mahlah.

And his sister Hammoleketh bare Ishod, and Abiezer, and Mahalah.

Verse 19

The sons of Shemida were Ahian, Shechem, Likhi, and Aniam.

And the sons of Shemida were, Ahian, and Shechem, and Likhi, and Aniam.

Verse 20

The descendants of Ephraim were Shuthelah, Bered his son, Tahath his son, Eleadah his son, and Tahath his son.

And the sons of Ephraim; Shuthelah, and Bered his son, and Tahath his son, and Eladah his son, and Tahath his son,

Verse 21

Zabad his son, and Shuthelah his son, with Ezer and Elead. Men of Gath, who were born in the land, killed them because they had gone down to raid their cattle.

And Zabad his son, and Shuthelah his son, and Ezer, and Elead, whom the men of Gath that were born in that land slew, because they came down to take away their cattle.

Verse 22

Their father Ephraim mourned for many days, and his brothers came to comfort him.

And Ephraim their father mourned many days, and his brethren came to comfort him.

Verse 23

He went in to his wife, and she conceived and gave birth to a son. He named him Beriah because evil had come upon his family.

And when he went in to his wife, she conceived, and bare a son, and he called his name Beriah, because it went evil with his house.

Verse 24

His daughter Sheerah built Lower and Upper Beth-horon, as well as Uzzen Sheerah.

(And his daughter was Sherah, who built Bethhoron the nether, and the upper, and Uzzensherah.)

Verse 25

Rephah was his son, Resheph, Telah his son, and Tahan his son.

And Rephah was his son, also Resheph, and Telah his son, and Tahan his son,

Verse 26

Laadan his son, Ammihud his son, and Elishama his son.

Laadan his son, Ammihud his son, Elishama his son,

Verse 27

Nun his son, and Joshua his son.

Non his son, Jehoshua his son.

Verse 28

Their territories and settlements were Bethel and its surrounding villages, to the east Naaran, to the west Gezer and its villages, and Shechem and its villages, as far as Ayyah and its villages.

And their possessions and habitations were, Bethel and the towns thereof, and eastward Naaran, and westward Gezer, with the towns thereof; Shechem also and the towns thereof, unto Gaza and the towns thereof:

Verse 29

Along the borders of the sons of Manasseh were Beth-shean and its villages, Taanach and its villages, Megiddo and its villages, and Dor and its villages. In these places lived the sons of Joseph, son of Israel.

And by the borders of the children of Manasseh, Bethshean and her towns, Taanach and her towns, Megiddo and her towns, Dor and her towns. In these dwelt the children of Joseph the son of Israel.

Verse 30

The sons of Asher were Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, and Beriah; and Serah was their sister.

The sons of Asher; Imnah, and Isuah, and Ishuai, and Beriah, and Serah their sister.

Verse 31

The sons of Beriah were Heber and Malkiel, who was the father of Birzaith.

And the sons of Beriah; Heber, and Malchiel, who is the father of Birzavith.

Verse 32

Heber became the father of Japhlet, Shomer, Hotham, and their sister Shua.

And Heber begat Japhlet, and Shomer, and Hotham, and Shua their sister.

Verse 33

The sons of Japhlet were Pasach, Bimhal, and Ashvath. These were the sons of Japhlet.

And the sons of Japhlet; Pasach, and Bimhal, and Ashvath. These are the children of Japhlet.

Verse 34

The sons of Shamer were Ahi, Rohgah, Hubbah, and Aram.

And the sons of Shamer; Ahi, and Rohgah, Jehubbah, and Aram.

Verse 35

The sons of Helem, his brother, were Zophah, Imna, Shelesh, and Amal.

And the sons of his brother Helem; Zophah, and Imna, and Shelesh, and Amal.

Verse 36

The sons of Zophah were Suah, Harnepher, Shual, Beri, and Imrah.

The sons of Zophah; Suah, and Harnepher, and Shual, and Beri, and Imrah,

Verse 37

Bezer, Hod, Shamma, Shilshah, Ithran, and Beera were also included.

Bezer, and Hod, and Shamma, and Shilshah, and Ithran, and Beera.

Verse 38

The sons of Jether were Jephunneh, Pispah, and Ara.

And the sons of Jether; Jephunneh, and Pispah, and Ara.

Verse 39

The sons of Ulla were Arah, Hanniel, and Rizia.

And the sons of Ulla; Arah, and Haniel, and Rezia.

Verse 40

All these were descendants of Asher, heads of their families, choice and mighty warriors, chiefs among the princes. Their total enrollment in the army for battle was twenty-six thousand men.

All these were the children of Asher, heads of their father's house, choice and mighty men of valour, chief of the princes. And the number throughout the genealogy of them that were apt to the war and to battle was twenty and six thousand men.
