Verse 1

At that time, the LORD said to me, 'Cut two stone tablets like the first ones, and come up to Me on the mountain, and make yourself a wooden ark.'

At that time the LORD said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood.

Verse 2

I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke, and you shall put them inside the ark.

And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark.

Verse 3

So I made an ark of acacia wood, and I cut two stone tablets like the first ones. Then I went up the mountain carrying the two tablets in my hands.

And I made an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in mine hand.

Verse 4

The LORD wrote on the tablets, just as He had done the first time, the Ten Commandments that He had proclaimed to you from the fire on the mountain on the day of the assembly. Then the LORD gave them to me.

And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the LORD spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the LORD gave them unto me.

Verse 5

I turned and came down from the mountain, and I placed the tablets in the ark I had made, as the LORD had commanded me, and they are there to this day.

And I turned myself and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they be, as the LORD commanded me.

Verse 6

The Israelites moved from Beeroth Bene-Jaakan to Moserah. There, Aaron died and was buried, and his son Eleazar served as priest in his place.

And the children of Israel took their journey from Beeroth of the children of Jaakan to Mosera: there Aaron died, and there he was buried; and Eleazar his son ministered in the priest's office in his stead.

Verse 7

From there, they traveled to Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land with streams of water.

From thence they journeyed unto Gudgodah; and from Gudgodah to Jotbath, a land of rivers of waters.

Verse 8

At that time, the LORD set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister to Him, and to pronounce blessings in His name, as they do to this day.

At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.

Verse 9

That is why the Levites have no share or inheritance among their brothers; the LORD Himself is their inheritance, as He promised them.

Wherefore Levi hath no part nor inheritance with his brethren; the LORD is his inheritance, according as the LORD thy God promised him.

Verse 10

I stayed on the mountain, as I had done the first time, forty days and forty nights, and the LORD listened to me at that time as well and was not willing to destroy you.

And I stayed in the mount, according to the first time, forty days and forty nights; and the LORD hearkened unto me at that time also, and the LORD would not destroy thee.

Verse 11

Then the LORD said to me, 'Arise, set out ahead of the people so that they may go and take possession of the land that I swore to their ancestors to give to them.'

And the LORD said unto me, Arise, take thy journey before the people, that they may go in and possess the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give unto them.

Verse 12

And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

Verse 13

and to keep the commandments of the LORD and His statutes that I am commanding you today for your own good?

To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?

Verse 14

Behold, to the LORD your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it.

Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the LORD'S thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.

Verse 15

Yet the LORD set His affection on your ancestors and loved them, and He chose their descendants after them, you above all peoples, as it is this day.

Only the LORD had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them, even you above all people, as it is this day.

Verse 16

Therefore, circumcise the foreskin of your hearts and do not be stiff-necked any longer.

Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.

Verse 17

For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, mighty, and awe-inspiring God, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes.

For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:

Verse 18

He ensures justice for the fatherless and the widow, and He loves the foreigner, giving him food and clothing.

He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment.

Verse 19

You are also to love the foreigner, for you yourselves were foreigners in the land of Egypt.

Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

Verse 20

Fear the LORD your God and serve Him. Hold fast to Him and take your oaths in His name.

Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.

Verse 21

He is your praise and He is your God, who has done great and awe-inspiring things for you, which your eyes have seen.

He is thy praise, and he is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.

Verse 22

Your ancestors went down to Egypt with seventy people, and now the LORD your God has made you as numerous as the stars of the heavens.

Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now the LORD thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.
