1 The Lord said to Moses, "See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet."

And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.

2 You shall speak everything I command you, and your brother Aaron will speak to Pharaoh, so that he may let the Israelites go out of his land.

Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land.

3 But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and I will multiply my signs and wonders in the land of Egypt.

And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.

4 Pharaoh will not listen to you, so I will stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring my armies—my people, the Israelites—out of the land of Egypt with great acts of judgment.

But Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.

5 The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out from among them.

And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.

6 Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord commanded them.

And Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them, so did they.

7 Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron was eighty-three years old when they spoke to Pharaoh.

And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spake unto Pharaoh.

8 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron,

And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

9 "When Pharaoh says to you, 'Perform a miracle,' you shall say to Aaron, 'Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh, and it will become a serpent.'"

When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent.

10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord had commanded. Aaron threw down his staff before Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a serpent.

And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent.

11 Pharaoh then summoned the wise men and sorcerers, and the magicians of Egypt did the same things by their secret arts.

Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.

12 Each one threw down his staff, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs.

For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.

13 Yet Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he would not listen to them, just as the Lord had said.

And he hardened Pharaoh's heart, that he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.

14 Then the Lord said to Moses, "Pharaoh’s heart is stubborn; he refuses to let the people go.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Pharaoh's heart is hardened, he refuseth to let the people go.

15 "Go to Pharaoh in the morning as he goes down to the water. Wait to meet him by the riverbank, and take in your hand the staff that was turned into a snake.

Get thee unto Pharaoh in the morning; lo, he goeth out unto the water; and thou shalt stand by the river's brink against he come; and the rod which was turned to a serpent shalt thou take in thine hand.

16 Then say to him, 'The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to say to you: Let my people go so that they may worship me in the wilderness. But so far you have not listened.'

And thou shalt say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath sent me unto thee, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness: and, behold, hitherto thou wouldest not hear.

17 This is what the Lord says: 'By this you will know that I am the Lord. With the staff that is in my hand, I will strike the water of the Nile, and it will be turned into blood.'

Thus saith the LORD, In this thou shalt know that I am the LORD: behold, I will smite with the rod that is in mine hand upon the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.

18 The fish in the Nile will die, the river will stink, and the Egyptians will not be able to drink water from the Nile.

And the fish that is in the river shall die, and the river shall stink; and the Egyptians shall lothe to drink of the water of the river.

19 Then the Lord said to Moses, "Tell Aaron, 'Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt—over their rivers, canals, ponds, and all their reservoirs—and they will turn to blood. There will be blood throughout the land of Egypt, even in wooden and stone containers.'"

And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone.

20 Moses and Aaron did as the Lord had commanded. Aaron raised his staff and struck the water of the Nile in the sight of Pharaoh and his officials, and all the water in the river was turned into blood.

And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.

21 The fish in the Nile died, the river smelled so bad that the Egyptians could not drink its water, and blood was everywhere in Egypt.

And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.

22 But the magicians of Egypt did the same thing by their secret arts, and Pharaoh’s heart remained hardened. He would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said.

And the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, neither did he hearken unto them; as the LORD had said.

23 Pharaoh turned and went back to his palace. He did not take this to heart either.

And Pharaoh turned and went into his house, neither did he set his heart to this also.

24 All the Egyptians dug along the Nile to get drinking water because they could not drink the water from the river.

And all the Egyptians digged round about the river for water to drink; for they could not drink of the water of the river.

25 Seven days passed after the Lord struck the Nile.

And seven days were fulfilled, after that the LORD had smitten the river.

26 Then the Lord said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh and tell him: 'This is what the Lord says: Let my people go so that they may worship me.'"

27 If you refuse to let them go, I will strike your entire country with frogs.

28 The Nile will teem with frogs. They will come up into your palace, your bedroom, onto your bed, into your officials’ houses, among your people, into your ovens, and into your kneading bowls.

29 The frogs will come up on you, your people, and all your officials.
