1 Abraham took another wife, and her name was Keturah.

Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.

2 She bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah.

And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.

3 Jokshan fathered Sheba and Dedan. The sons of Dedan were the Asshurim, Letushim, and Leummim.

And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.

4 The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the sons of Keturah.

And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.

5 Abraham gave everything he owned to Isaac.

And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.

6 But to the sons of his concubines, Abraham gave gifts, and while he was still alive, he sent them away from his son Isaac, eastward to the land of the east.

But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.

7 This is the length of Abraham’s life: 175 years.

And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years.

8 Abraham breathed his last and died at a ripe old age, an old man full of years, and he was gathered to his people.

Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.

9 His sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, near the field of Ephron son of Zohar the Hittite, which is near Mamre.

And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;

10 The field Abraham had purchased from the sons of Heth. There Abraham was buried with his wife Sarah.

The field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.

11 After Abraham’s death, God blessed his son Isaac, who settled near Beer-lahai-roi.

And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahairoi.

12 This is the account of Ishmael, the son of Abraham, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah’s maidservant, bore to Abraham.

Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bare unto Abraham:

13 These are the names of the sons of Ishmael, listed in the order of their birth: Nebaioth, the firstborn of Ishmael; then Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,

And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,

14 Mishma, Dumah, and Massa,

And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,

15 Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah.

Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:

16 These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names by their villages and encampments: twelve princes, according to their tribes.

These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.

17 These are the years of Ishmael's life: one hundred thirty-seven years. He breathed his last, died, and was gathered to his people.

And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was gathered unto his people.

18 Ishmael's descendants settled from Havilah to Shur, which is opposite Egypt as you go toward Assyria. He lived in hostility toward all his brothers.

And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.

19 This is the account of the family line of Isaac, the son of Abraham: Abraham fathered Isaac.

And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begat Isaac:

20 Isaac was forty years old when he married Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean from Paddan-aram, the sister of Laban the Aramean.

And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.

21 Isaac prayed to the LORD on behalf of his wife because she was barren. The LORD answered his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

22 The children inside her struggled with each other, and she said, 'If it is like this, why is this happening to me?' So she went to inquire of the LORD.

And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD.

23 The LORD said to her, 'Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you will be separated. One people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger.'

And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.

24 When the time came for her to give birth, there were indeed twins in her womb.

And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.

25 The first came out red, covered with hair like a fur coat, and they named him Esau.

And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.

26 After that, his brother came out with his hand grasping Esau's heel. So he was named Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when Rebekah gave birth to them.

And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.

27 The boys grew up, and Esau became a skilled hunter, a man of the open country, while Jacob was a quiet man who stayed among the tents.

And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.

28 Isaac loved Esau because he enjoyed the game Esau brought, but Rebekah loved Jacob.

And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.

29 One day when Jacob was cooking stew, Esau came in from the field, exhausted.

And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:

30 Esau said to Jacob, 'Let me gulp down some of that red stew, for I am exhausted.' This is why he was also called Edom.

And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.

31 Jacob replied, 'First, sell me your birthright.'

And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.

32 Esau said, 'Look, I am about to die, so what good is a birthright to me?'

And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?

33 But Jacob said, 'Swear to me first.' So Esau swore an oath to him and sold his birthright to Jacob.

And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew. Esau ate, drank, got up, and went on his way. So Esau despised his birthright.

Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.
