Verse 1

On the third day, a wedding took place in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.

And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:

Verse 2

Jesus and His disciples were also invited to the wedding.

And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.

Verse 3

When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to Him, 'They have no more wine.'

And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

Verse 4

Jesus said to her, 'Woman, what does this have to do with me? My time has not yet come.'

Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

Verse 5

His mother said to the servants, 'Do whatever He tells you.'

His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

Verse 6

Nearby were six stone water jars, used for the Jewish ceremonial washing, each holding twenty to thirty gallons.

And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

Verse 7

Jesus said to them, 'Fill the jars with water.' So they filled them to the brim.

Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

Verse 8

Then He told them, 'Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.' So they did.

And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.

Verse 9

When the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine, not knowing where it had come from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), he called the bridegroom aside.

When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

Verse 10

He said, 'Everyone brings out the choice wine first, and then the cheaper wine after the guests have drunk freely; but you have saved the best till now.'

And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

Verse 11

This, the first of the signs, Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee. He revealed His glory, and His disciples believed in Him.

This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

Verse 12

After this, He went down to Capernaum with His mother, His brothers, and His disciples, and they stayed there for a few days.

After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.

Verse 13

When the Jewish Passover was near, Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,

Verse 14

In the temple courts, He found people selling oxen, sheep, and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money.

And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:

Verse 15

So He made a whip out of cords and drove all from the temple courts, both the sheep and the oxen. He scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.

And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;

Verse 16

To those selling doves He said, 'Get these out of here! Stop turning My Father's house into a marketplace!'

And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.

Verse 17

Then His disciples remembered that it is written: 'Zeal for Your house will consume me.'

And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.

Verse 18

So the Jews responded to Him, 'What sign can You show us to prove Your authority to do all this?'

Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?

Verse 19

Jesus answered them, 'Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.'

Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

Verse 20

They replied, 'It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and You are going to raise it in three days?'

Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?

Verse 21

But He was speaking about the temple of His body.

But he spake of the temple of his body.

Verse 22

After He was raised from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.

When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

Verse 23

While He was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, many believed in His name when they saw the signs He was performing.

Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.

Verse 24

But Jesus did not entrust Himself to them, for He knew all people.

But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,

Verse 25

He did not need anyone to testify about mankind, for He Himself knew what was in each person.

And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
