1 After this, Jesus was walking in Galilee, for He did not want to walk in Judea because the Jews were seeking to kill Him.

After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.

2 Now the Jewish festival of Tabernacles was near.

Now the Jews' feast of tabernacles was at hand.

3 So His brothers said to Him, 'Leave here and go to Judea, so that Your disciples also may see the works You are doing.'

His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest.

4 'For no one does anything in secret while seeking to be known publicly. If You are doing these things, reveal Yourself to the world.'

For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world.

5 For even His brothers did not believe in Him.

For neither did his brethren believe in him.

6 Jesus said to them, 'My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.'

Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready.

7 'The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me, because I testify about it that its works are evil.'

The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.

8 'You go up to the festival. I am not going up to this festival yet, because My time has not yet been fulfilled.'

Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come.

9 Having said this to them, He remained in Galilee.

When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee.

10 But when His brothers had gone up to the festival, He also went up, not publicly, but as it were in secret.

But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.

11 The Jews were looking for Him at the festival and saying, 'Where is He?

Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?

12 And there was a lot of murmuring among the crowds about Him. Some were saying, 'He is a good man,' but others were saying, 'No, He is deceiving the people.'

And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people.

13 Yet no one was speaking openly about Him for fear of the Jews.

Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews.

14 About halfway through the festival, Jesus went up to the temple and began teaching.

Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.

15 The Jews were amazed, saying, 'How does this man know so much without having been taught?'

And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?

16 Jesus answered them, 'My teaching is not Mine, but comes from the One who sent Me.

Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.

17 'If anyone wants to do His will, they will know whether My teaching comes from God or whether I speak on My own authority.'

If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

18 The one who speaks on his own seeks his own glory, but the one who seeks the glory of the One who sent him is truthful, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

19 Didn't Moses give you the law? Yet none of you keeps the law. Why are you trying to kill Me?

Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?

20 The crowd answered, 'You have a demon! Who is trying to kill You?'

The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee?

21 Jesus answered them, 'I did one work, and you all marvel.

Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel.

22 Because of this, Moses gave you circumcision (not that it comes from Moses, but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath.

Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man.

23 If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses is not broken, why are you angry at Me because I made a man entirely well on the Sabbath?

If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day?

24 Do not judge by appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.

Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

25 Then some of the people of Jerusalem began to say, 'Isn’t this the man they are trying to kill?

Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill?

26 Yet here He is speaking openly, and they are not saying anything to Him. Could it be that the authorities really have recognized that He is the Messiah?

But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?

27 But we know where this man is from. When the Messiah comes, no one will know where He is from.

Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is.

28 Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple, cried out, 'You know Me, and you know where I am from. I have not come on My own, but the One who sent Me is true. You do not know Him.

Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.

29 I know Him because I am from Him, and He sent Me.'

But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me.

30 They tried to seize Him, but no one laid a hand on Him because His hour had not yet come.

Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.

31 However, many in the crowd believed in Him and said, 'When the Messiah comes, will He perform more signs than this man has done?'

And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done?

32 The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things about Him, so the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to arrest Him.

The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him.

33 Then Jesus said, 'I will be with you a little while longer, and then I am going to the One who sent Me.'

Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.

34 You will look for Me, but you will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come.'

Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come.

35 At this, the Jews said to one another, 'Where does this man intend to go that we will not be able to find Him? Does He plan to go to the dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks?

Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?

36 What does He mean when He said, ‘You will look for Me, but you will not find Me,’ and ‘Where I am, you cannot come’?”

What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come?

37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and cried out, 'If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.'

In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

38 'Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.'

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

39 (He said this about the Spirit, which those who believed in Him were to receive. For the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.)

But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

40 When some in the crowd heard these words, they said, 'Truly, this is the Prophet.'

Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.

41 Others said, 'This is the Messiah.' But some asked, 'Surely, the Messiah doesn’t come from Galilee, does He?

Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?

42 Doesn’t the Scripture say that the Messiah comes from David’s line and from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?'”}, {

Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?

43 So a division arose among the crowd because of Him.

So there was a division among the people because of him.

44 But some of them wanted to seize Him, yet no one laid a hand on Him.

And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him.

45 Then the officers came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, 'Why didn’t you bring Him?'

Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him?

46 The officers answered, 'Never has anyone spoken like this man!'

The officers answered, Never man spake like this man.

47 The Pharisees replied to them, 'Have you also been deceived?'

Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived?

48 Have any of the rulers or Pharisees believed in Him?

Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him?

49 But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed.

But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed.

50 Nicodemus, the one who had previously come to Him at night and who was one of them, said to them,

Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,)

51 'Does our law condemn a man without first hearing him to find out what he is doing?'

Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth?

52 They responded, 'Are you also from Galilee? Search and see that no prophet arises from Galilee.'

They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.

53 Then each one went to his own house.

And every man went unto his own house.
