    25While they were in high spirits, they shouted, 'Bring out Samson to entertain us!' So they brought Samson from the prison, and he performed for them. They made him stand between the pillars.

    26Samson said to the servant who held his hand, 'Put me where I can feel the pillars that support the temple, so that I may lean against them.'

    28Then Samson called to the LORD, 'Sovereign LORD, remember me. Please, God, strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes.'

    29Then Samson reached toward the two central pillars on which the temple stood. Bracing himself against them, his right hand on one and his left hand on the other,

    30Samson said, 'Let me die with the Philistines!' Then he pushed with all his might, and down came the temple on the rulers and all the people in it. So he killed many more when he died than while he lived.

    31Then his brothers and his father's whole family went down to get him. They brought him back and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the tomb of Manoah, his father. He had led Israel for twenty years.

    11Then three thousand men of Judah went to the cleft of the rock of Etam and said to Samson, "Don’t you know that the Philistines rule over us? What have you done to us?" He replied, "I only did to them what they did to me."

    12They said to him, "We have come down to tie you up and hand you over to the Philistines." Samson said to them, "Swear to me that you yourselves will not harm me."

    1Samson went to Gaza, where he saw a prostitute and went in to her.

    2When the Gazites were told, 'Samson has come here,' they surrounded the place and waited for him all night at the city gate. They remained quiet throughout the night, saying, 'At dawn, we will kill him.'

    3But Samson lay down until midnight. At midnight, he got up, seized the doors of the city gate along with the two doorposts, pulled them up with the bar, laid them on his shoulders, and carried them to the top of the hill facing Hebron.

    4Some time later, Samson fell in love with a woman in the Valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.

    5The rulers of the Philistines went to her and said, 'Entice him and find out the secret of his great strength and how we can overpower him so that we may tie him up and subdue him. Each of us will give you eleven hundred pieces of silver.'

    6So Delilah said to Samson, 'Please tell me the source of your great strength and how you can be tied up and subdued.'

    8He attacked them viciously, defeating them completely. Then he went down and stayed in the cleft of the rock of Etam.

    19Then the Spirit of the LORD came powerfully upon him. He went down to Ashkelon, struck down thirty of their men, took their belongings, and gave their clothes to those who had explained the riddle. Burning with anger, he went back to his father’s house.

    16So Samson’s wife wept before him and said, 'You only hate me; you do not love me. You have posed a riddle to my people, but you have not told me the answer.' He replied, 'I have not even told it to my father or mother; why should I tell you?'

    17She cried before him the entire seven days of the feast, and on the seventh day, he told her because she pressed him so much. Then she revealed the answer to the riddle to her people.

    13Delilah said to Samson, 'You have been making a fool of me and telling me lies. Now tell me how you can be bound.' He replied, 'If you weave the seven locks of my hair into the fabric on the loom and fasten it with the pin, I will become weak like any other man.'

    14While he slept, Delilah took the seven locks of his hair, wove them into the fabric, and fastened them with the pin. Then she called to him, 'Samson, the Philistines are upon you!' But he awoke from his sleep and pulled out the pin, the loom, and the fabric.

    15Finding a fresh jawbone of a donkey, he reached out, took it, and struck down a thousand men with it.

    16Then Samson said, "With the jawbone of a donkey, I have made heaps upon heaps; with the jawbone of a donkey, I have killed a thousand men."
