Verse 1

The LORD called to Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting, saying:

And the LORD called unto Moses, and spake unto him out of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,

Verse 2

Speak to the Israelites and say to them: When anyone among you brings an offering to the LORD, you are to bring your offering from the livestock—either from the herd or the flock.

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto the LORD, ye shall bring your offering of the cattle, even of the herd, and of the flock.

Verse 3

If the offering is a burnt offering from the herd, you are to offer a male without defect. You must present it at the entrance to the tent of meeting so that it will be acceptable to the LORD.

If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD.

Verse 4

You are to lay your hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted on your behalf to make atonement for you.

And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him.

Verse 5

You are to slaughter the young bull before the LORD, and Aaron's sons, the priests, shall bring the blood and splash it against the sides of the altar at the entrance to the tent of meeting.

And he shall kill the bullock before the LORD: and the priests, Aaron's sons, shall bring the blood, and sprinkle the blood round about upon the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

Verse 6

Then the burnt offering is to be skinned and cut into pieces.

And he shall flay the burnt offering, and cut it into his pieces.

Verse 7

The sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire on the altar and arrange wood on the fire.

And the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire upon the altar, and lay the wood in order upon the fire:

Verse 8

Then Aaron's sons, the priests, shall arrange the pieces, including the head and the fat, on the wood that is burning on the altar.

And the priests, Aaron's sons, shall lay the parts, the head, and the fat, in order upon the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar:

Verse 9

You are to wash the internal organs and the legs with water, and the priest is to burn all of it on the altar as a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, a pleasing aroma to the LORD.

But his inwards and his legs shall he wash in water: and the priest shall burn all on the altar, to be a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

Verse 10

If the offering is a burnt offering from the flock, from either the sheep or the goats, you are to offer a male without defect.

And if his offering be of the flocks, namely, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt sacrifice; he shall bring it a male without blemish.

Verse 11

You are to slaughter it on the north side of the altar before the LORD, and Aaron's sons, the priests, shall splash its blood against the sides of the altar.

And he shall kill it on the side of the altar northward before the LORD: and the priests, Aaron's sons, shall sprinkle his blood round about upon the altar.

Verse 12

You are to cut it into pieces, and the priest shall arrange them, including the head and the fat, on the wood that is burning on the altar.

And he shall cut it into his pieces, with his head and his fat: and the priest shall lay them in order on the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar:

Verse 13

You are to wash the internal organs and the legs with water, and the priest shall offer all of it and burn it on the altar as a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, a pleasing aroma to the LORD.

But he shall wash the inwards and the legs with water: and the priest shall bring it all, and burn it upon the altar: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

Verse 14

If the offering to the LORD is a burnt offering of birds, you are to bring your offering either from turtledoves or young pigeons.

And if the burnt sacrifice for his offering to the LORD be of fowls, then he shall bring his offering of turtledoves, or of young pigeons.

Verse 15

The priest shall bring it to the altar, wring off its head, and burn it on the altar. Its blood shall be drained out on the side of the altar.

And the priest shall bring it unto the altar, and wring off his head, and burn it on the altar; and the blood thereof shall be wrung out at the side of the altar:

Verse 16

He shall remove its crop with its feathers and throw it beside the altar on the east side, into the place for ashes.

And he shall pluck away his crop with his feathers, and cast it beside the altar on the east part, by the place of the ashes:

Verse 17

He shall tear it open by its wings without dividing it completely. Then the priest shall burn it on the wood that is on the fire on the altar. It is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, a pleasing aroma to the LORD.

And he shall cleave it with the wings thereof, but shall not divide it asunder: and the priest shall burn it upon the altar, upon the wood that is upon the fire: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.
