Jesus told them a parable to show that they should always pray and not give up.

And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:

Verse 3

And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him and saying, 'Grant me justice against my adversary.'

And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.

Verse 4

For a while, he refused. But later, he said to himself, 'Even though I do not fear God or respect people, I will give her justice.'

And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

Verse 5

'Because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won't wear me out with her continual coming.'

Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.

And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.

Verse 7

And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he delay in helping them?

And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?

Verse 8

I tell you, he will give them justice quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?

I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

Verse 14

'I tell you that this man went home justified before God rather than the other. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.'

Verse 17

Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will certainly not enter it.

Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

Verse 23

When he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was extremely wealthy.

And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.

Verse 24

Seeing that he had become sad, Jesus said, 'How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!'

And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

Verse 25

Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.

For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Verse 26

Those who heard this asked, 'Who then can be saved?'

And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?
