All these are the beginning of sorrows.

'So when you see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),'

For at that time there will be great tribulation, unlike anything that has happened from the beginning of the world until now, and never will happen again.

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Verse 22

If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect, those days will be shortened.

And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

Verse 23

At that time, if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Messiah!' or 'There he is!' do not believe it.

Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

Verse 24

For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

Verse 25

See, I have told you in advance.

Behold, I have told you before.

Verse 26

So if anyone tells you, 'He is in the wilderness,' do not go out; or 'He is in the inner rooms,' do not believe it.

Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

Verse 27

For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

Immediately after the distress of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly powers will be shaken.

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

Verse 30

Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the peoples of the earth will mourn as they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Verse 32

Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its branch becomes tender and its leaves sprout, you know that summer is near.

Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

Verse 33

In the same way, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door.

So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

For in the days before the flood, people were eating, drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark;

For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

Verse 39

and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Verse 42

Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.

Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

Verse 43

But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.

But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

Verse 44

So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Verse 45

Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time?

Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

Verse 46

Blessed is that servant whom the master finds doing so when he returns.

Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

Verse 47

Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.

Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

Verse 48

But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, 'My master is staying away a long time,'

But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;

Verse 49

and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards.

And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

Verse 50
