1 To the director on lilies, a maskil of the sons of Korah, a song of love.

My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

2 My heart overflows with a good theme; I speak my composition to the king. My tongue is like the pen of a skillful writer.

Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.

3 You are the most beautiful of the sons of men; grace is poured upon your lips; therefore God has blessed you forever.

Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty.

4 Gird your sword upon your thigh, O mighty one, in your splendor and your majesty.

And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.

5 In your majesty ride forth victoriously on behalf of truth, humility, and righteousness; let your right hand perform awesome deeds.

Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; whereby the people fall under thee.

6 Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; the nations fall beneath your feet.

Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.

7 Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; the scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of righteousness.

Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

8 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of joy above your companions.

All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad.

9 All your garments are fragrant with myrrh, aloes, and cassia; from ivory palaces, stringed instruments bring you joy.

Kings' daughters were among thy honourable women: upon thy right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir.

10 Daughters of kings are among your noble women; at your right hand stands the queen in gold from Ophir.

Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father's house;

11 Listen, daughter, consider and incline your ear; forget your people and your father's house.

So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him.

12 The king will desire your beauty; bow down to him, for he is your lord.

And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour.

13 The daughter of Tyre will come with a gift; the wealthy among the people will seek your favor.

The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.

14 The royal daughter is glorious within; her clothing is interwoven with gold.

She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee.

15 In embroidered garments she is brought to the king; her virgin companions follow behind her and are led to you.

With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king's palace.

16 They are led with joy and gladness; they enter the palace of the king.

Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth.

17 In place of your fathers will be your sons; you will make them princes throughout the earth.

I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.

18 I will cause your name to be remembered in every generation; therefore, the peoples will praise you forever and ever.
