Zechariah 13

1 On that day, a fountain will be opened for the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to cleanse them from sin and impurity.

In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.

2 On that day, declares the LORD of hosts, I will remove the names of the idols from the land, and they will no longer be remembered. Moreover, I will eliminate the false prophets and the spirit of impurity from the land.

And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered: and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.

3 If anyone still prophesies on that day, his father and mother—those who gave birth to him—will say to him, ‘You must die, because you have spoken lies in the name of the LORD.’ Then his parents, who brought him into the world, will pierce him through when he prophesies.

And it shall come to pass, that when any shall yet prophesy, then his father and his mother that begat him shall say unto him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of the LORD: and his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth.

4 On that day, every prophet will be ashamed of their visions when they prophesy. They will no longer wear a cloak of hair to deceive.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the prophets shall be ashamed every one of his vision, when he hath prophesied; neither shall they wear a rough garment to deceive:

5 Instead, they will say, ‘I am not a prophet; I am a farmer, for I have been working the land since my youth.’

But he shall say, I am no prophet, I am an husbandman; for man taught me to keep cattle from my youth.

6 And if someone asks, ‘What are these wounds on your body?’ they will answer, ‘They are the wounds I received in the house of my friends.’

And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.

7 Awake, O sword, against My shepherd and against the man who is My companion, declares the LORD of hosts. Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; and I will turn My hand against the little ones.

Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.

8 In all the land, declares the LORD, two-thirds will be cut off and perish, but one-third will be left in it.

And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.

9 This third I will bring through the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on My name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘They are My people,’ and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God.’

And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.
