Zechariah 2

1 I lifted up my eyes and saw, and behold, four horns.

I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand.

2 I asked the angel who was speaking with me, 'What are these?' And he said to me, 'These are the horns that scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.'

Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.

3 Then the LORD showed me four craftsmen.

And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,

4 I asked, 'What are these coming to do?' And he answered, 'These are the horns that scattered Judah so that no one could lift his head. But these craftsmen have come to terrify them and throw down the horns of the nations who lifted their horns against the land of Judah to scatter it.'

And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:

5 I lifted up my eyes and saw, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand.

For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.

6 I asked, 'Where are you going?' And he replied, 'To measure Jerusalem, to see how wide and how long it is.'

Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the LORD: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the LORD.

7 Then behold, the angel who was speaking with me went out, and another angel came to meet him.

Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.

8 He said to him, 'Run and tell that young man: Jerusalem will be inhabited as a city without walls because of the multitude of people and livestock in it.'

For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.

9 'And I will be a wall of fire around her,' declares the LORD, 'and I will be the glory within her.'

For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me.

10 “Come! Come! Flee from the land of the north,” declares the LORD, “for I have scattered you to the four winds of heaven,” declares the LORD.

Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD.

11 Ho! Zion, escape, you who dwell with the Daughter of Babylon.

And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto thee.

12 For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: 'Afterglory—He has sent me against the nations that have plundered, hit His affect on marked prey which defines Exter.

And the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.

13 Behold, I will wave my hand over them, and they will become plunder for their servants. Then you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent me.

Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.

14 Sing and rejoice, Daughter of Zion, for behold, I am coming, and I will dwell in your midst,' declares the LORD.

15 Many nations will join themselves to the LORD on that day and become His people. I will dwell in your midst, and you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent me to you.

16 The LORD will take possession of Judah as His portion in the holy land, and He will again choose Jerusalem.

17 Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD, for He has been roused from His holy dwelling.
