1 På den dagen skal Herren med sitt harde, store og sterke sverd straffe Leviatan, den flyktige slangen, og Leviatan, den krokete slangen; og han skal drepe uhyret i havet.

In that day Yahweh with his hard and great and strong sword will punish leviathan the swift serpent, and leviathan the crooked serpent; and he will kill the monster that is in the sea.

2 På den dagen: En vingård med vin, syng for den.

In that day: A vineyard of wine, sing you to it.

3 Jeg, Herren, er dens vokter; jeg skal vanne den hele tiden. Slik at ingen skader den, skal jeg vokte den natt og dag.

I Yahweh am its keeper; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.

4 Vrede er ikke i meg: Var det bare torner og klunger mot meg i kamp! Jeg ville marsjere mot dem og brenne dem ned.

Wrath is not in me: would that the briers and thorns were against me in battle! I would march on them, I would burn them together.

5 Eller la ham gripe min styrke, så han kan gjøre fred med meg; ja, la ham gjøre fred med meg.

Or else let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; [yes], let him make peace with me.

6 I de kommende dager skal Jakob slå rot; Israel skal blomstre og spire, og de skal fylle verdens overflate med frukt.

In days to come shall Jacob take root; Israel shall blossom and bud; and they shall fill the surface of the world with fruit.

7 Har han slått dem slik han slo dem som slo dem? Eller er de slått i henhold til drapene på dem som ble drept av dem?

Has he struck them as he struck those who struck them? or are they slain according to the slaughter of those who were slain by them?

8 Med måte, når du sender dem bort, kjemper du med dem; han har fjernet dem med sterk vind på østenvindens dag.

In measure, when you send them away, you do contend with them; he has removed [them] with his rough blast in the day of the east wind.

9 Derfor skal Jakobs misgjerning tilgis ved dette, og dette er all frukt av å ta bort hans synd: at han gjør alle alterets steiner som kalksteiner som er knust, slik at Asjerimene og solbildene ikke skal stå opp igjen.

Therefore by this shall the iniquity of Jacob be forgiven, and this is all the fruit of taking away his sin: that he makes all the stones of the altar as chalk stones that are beaten in sunder, [so that] the Asherim and the sun-images shall rise no more.

10 For den befestede byen er ensom, en bolig forlatt og forlatt, som en ørken; der skal kalven spise, og der skal den ligge og fortære dens grener.

For the fortified city is solitary, a habitation deserted and forsaken, like the wilderness: there shall the calf feed, and there shall he lie down, and consume the branches of it.

11 Når dens grener visner, skal de bli brutt av; kvinnene skal komme og sette dem i brann, for det er et folk uten forstand; derfor vil han som skapte dem ikke ha medfølelse med dem, og han som formet dem vil ikke vise dem gunst.

When the boughs of it are withered, they shall be broken off; the women shall come, and set them on fire; for it is a people of no understanding: therefore he who made them will not have compassion on them, and he who formed them will show them no favor.

12 Det skal skje på den dagen, at Herren skal høste fra elvens flom til Egyptens bekk; dere, Israels barn, skal bli samlet én etter én.

It shall happen in that day, that Yahweh will beat off [his fruit] from the flood of the River to the brook of Egypt; and you shall be gathered one by one, you children of Israel.

13 Det skal skje på den dagen, at en stor trompet skal lyde; og de som var klare til å omkomme i Assyrias land, og de som var utstøtt i Egyptens land, skal komme og tilbe Herren på det hellige fjell i Jerusalem.

It shall happen in that day, that a great trumpet shall be blown; and they shall come who were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and those who were outcasts in the land of Egypt; and they shall worship Yahweh in the holy mountain at Jerusalem.
