Det skjedde samme år, i begynnelsen av kong Sedekias' regjeringstid i Juda, i det fjerde året, i den femte måneden, at Hananja, sønn av Assur, profeten fra Gibeon, talte til meg i Herrens hus i nærvær av prestene og hele folket og sa:

It happened the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, that Hananiah the son of Azzur, the prophet, who was of Gibeon, spoke to me in the house of Yahweh, in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying,

Så sier hærskarenes Herre, Israels Gud: Jeg har brutt Babylons konges åk.

Thus speaks Yahweh of Hosts, the God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.

Innen to hele år vil jeg bringe tilbake til dette stedet alle karene fra Herrens hus, som Nebukadnesar, kongen av Babylon, tok herfra og førte til Babylon.

Within two full years will I bring again into this place all the vessels of Yahweh's house, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place, and carried to Babylon:

Og jeg vil bringe tilbake hit Jekonja, sønn av Jojakim, kongen av Juda, med alle Judas fanger som dro til Babylon, sier Herren; for jeg vil bryte Babylons konges åk.

and I will bring again to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, with all the captives of Judah, who went to Babylon, says Yahweh; for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.

Da sa profeten Jeremia til profeten Hananja i nærvær av prestene, og i nærvær av hele folket som sto i Herrens hus,

Then the prophet Jeremiah said to the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests, and in the presence of all the people who stood in the house of Yahweh,

at også profeten Jeremia sa: Amen, måtte Herren gjøre slik; måtte Herren oppfylle dine ord som du har profetert, om å bringe tilbake karene fra Herrens hus, og alle de bortførte fra Babylon til dette stedet.

even the prophet Jeremiah said, Amen: Yahweh do so; Yahweh perform your words which you have prophesied, to bring again the vessels of Yahweh's house, and all them of the captivity, from Babylon to this place.

Men hør nå dette ordet som jeg taler i ditt øre, og i ørene til hele folket:

Nevertheless hear you now this word that I speak in your ears, and in the ears of all the people:

De profetene som var før meg og før deg fra gammel tid, profeterte mot mange land og mot store riker, om krig og ulykker og pest.

The prophets who have been before me and before you of old prophesied against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pestilence.

Men profeten som profeterer om fred, når profetens ord går i oppfyllelse, da skal det kjennes at Herren virkelig har sendt ham.

The prophet who prophesies of peace, when the word of the prophet shall happen, then shall the prophet be known, that Yahweh has truly sent him.

Da tok profeten Hananja stangen fra profeten Jeremias' nakke og brøt den.

Then Hananiah the prophet took the bar from off the prophet Jeremiah's neck, and broke it.

Hananja talte i nærvær av hele folket og sa: Så sier Herren: På samme måte vil jeg bryte Nebukadnesar, kongen av Babylons åk fra nakken til alle nasjonene innen to hele år. Profeten Jeremia gikk bort.

Hananiah spoke in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus says Yahweh: Even so will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon within two full years from off the neck of all the nations. The prophet Jeremiah went his way.

Så kom Herrens ord til Jeremia, etter at profeten Hananja hadde brutt stangen fra profeten Jeremias' nakke, og sa:

Then the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah, after that Hananiah the prophet had broken the bar from off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah, saying,

Gå og si til Hananja: Så sier Herren: Du har brutt trestengene; men du har laget i stedet for dem jernstenger.

Go, and tell Hananiah, saying, Thus says Yahweh: You have broken the bars of wood; but you have made in their place bars of iron.

For så sier hærskarenes Herre, Israels Gud: Jeg har lagt et jernåk på nakken til alle disse folkene, så de skal tjene Nebukadnesar, kongen av Babylon; og de skal tjene ham: og jeg har også gitt ham markens dyr.

For thus says Yahweh of Hosts, the God of Israel: I have put a yoke of iron on the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him: and I have given him the animals of the field also.

Da sa profeten Jeremia til profeten Hananja: Hør nå, Hananja: Herren har ikke sendt deg; men du får dette folket til å stole på en løgn.

Then said the prophet Jeremiah to Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah: Yahweh has not sent you; but you make this people to trust in a lie.

Derfor sier Herren: Se, jeg vil sende deg bort fra jordens overflate: dette året skal du dø, fordi du har talt opprør mot Herren.

Therefore thus says Yahweh, Behold, I will send you away from off the surface of the earth: this year you shall die, because you have spoken rebellion against Yahweh.

Så døde profeten Hananja samme år, i den sjuende måneden.

So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.
