1 På den dagen skal det åpnes en kilde for Davids hus og for Jerusalems innbyggere, for synd og urenhet.

"In that day there will be a spring opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for uncleanness.

2 På den dagen, sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud, skal jeg skjære navnene på avgudene ut av landet, og de skal ikke mer bli husket; og jeg skal også få profetene og urenhetens ånd til å forsvinne fra landet.

It will come to pass in that day, says Yahweh of Hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they will no more be remembered; and also I will cause the prophets and the spirit of impurity to pass out of the land.

3 Det skal skje at når noen fremdeles profeterer, skal hans far og mor som fødte ham si til ham: 'Du må dø, for du har talt løgner i Herrens navn;' og hans far og mor som fødte ham skal stikke ham når han profeterer.

It will happen that, when anyone still prophesies, then his father and his mother who bore him will tell him, 'You must die, because you speak lies in the name of Yahweh;' and his father and his mother who bore him will stab him when he prophesies.

4 Det skal skje på den dagen at profetene vil skamme seg over sitt syn når de profeterer; de vil heller ikke bære en hårete kappe for å bedra.

It will happen in that day, that the prophets will each be ashamed of his vision, when he prophesies; neither will they wear a hairy mantle to deceive:

5 Men han skal si: 'Jeg er ingen profet, jeg er en jordbruksarbeider; for jeg har vært en trell siden min ungdom.'

but he will say, 'I am no prophet, I am a tiller of the ground; for I have been made a bondservant from my youth.'

6 Noen vil si til ham: 'Hva er disse sårene mellom dine armer?' Da vil han svare: 'De som jeg ble såret med i mine venners hus.'

One will say to him, 'What are these wounds between your arms?' Then he will answer, 'Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.'

7 Våkn opp, sverd, mot min hyrde, og mot mannen som står meg nær, sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud. Slå hyrden, og sauene vil bli spredt; og jeg vil vende min hånd mot de små.

"Awake, sword, against my shepherd, And against the man who is close to me," says Yahweh of Hosts. Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; And I will turn my hand against the little ones.

8 Det skal skje i hele landet, sier Herren, at to deler skal bli utryddet og omkomme; men den tredje delen skal bli igjen.

It shall happen that in all the land," says Yahweh, Two parts in it will be cut off and die; But the third will be left in it.

9 Jeg vil føre den tredje delen gjennom ilden, og lutre dem som man lutrer sølv, og teste dem som man tester gull. De skal påkalle mitt navn, og jeg vil høre dem. Jeg vil si: 'Dette er mitt folk;' og de skal si: 'Herren er min Gud.'

I will bring the third part into the fire, And will refine them as silver is refined, And will test them like gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will hear them. I will say, 'It is my people;' And they will say, 'Yahweh is my God.'"
